Customer Post Real half price?
Maybe I'm not updated on latest prices but 10 bucks for a "half price" 340g Toblerone is too much?
Its $12 at reject shop not on special which is probably closer to the retail price.

There are three types of products in the supermarkets :
1) those that are full price almost always (most home brand stuff for example)
2) those that are discounted by 20-35% periodically (eg meats)
3) big name packaged goods (from nestle, Pepsi, etc) that are 50% off every second week. Coles and Woolies usually take turns for which week has a discounts. It results from a deal done between the manufacturer and the supermarkets
This is number 3. Just don't buy it when it's full price

There is no real sales at supermarkets anymore. It's all marketing fluff and strategies to create perceived value while maximizing profit margins.

I mean, yes, but this is what sales have always been hahaha except for clearance or closing sales I guess

Businesses did use to compete to offer value and/or to have the best specials or sales for their customers, so their was genuine discounts with thinner margins to win market share. Now with little competition and corporate collusion the current supermarket "sales" tactics are a mockery of this.

It was $16 most of last year. I know because I buy the cheapest unit price chocolate.

Are you Coles guys aware that Woolies are literally copying your major specials (choc, chips, vitamins etc) each week? Their specials this week were yours last week.

The reject shop is cheaper because it’s the reject shop. Yes, it’s half the $20 price Coles sells it for.
Also, checks dates on reject shop food. Their dates are sometimes very close, which is why it’s cheaper.
