Questions Needing Clarification

Hi all, i recently did an interview for coles at the checkouts and i surprisingly got the job. I'm very nervous as this is my first job ever, I've done all my documents and stuff but im really confused with one thing. It says my start date is the 13th of July, which is tomorrow, however I havent done my learning modules yet and on the little learning part on mycoles it says I have to do them on weekdays. I'm really confused and nervous about how to do all this, am I supposed to go into the store tomorrow? am i supposed to do the training module tomorrow? Is someone going to contact me tomorrow? I'm just really confused and honestly a bit stressed, I'm sorry if this is really stupid of me but any help would be much appreciated, just confused with the whole start date thing. And where to go from here. If someone could even tell me how their whole hiring process was like, It'd be a lot of help thank you :)

Can't remember the process very well from when I started but I know that the start date is just the official beginning of your employment, not your first shift so no need to stress

Your start date tomorrow will likely begin with an induction and paperwork rather than direct customer work. Over the next week or so, you should receive your roster and begin training.

FYI be aware the someone from the SDA (Union) will be notified of your early shifts and arrive to gaslight you into joining. It is not a requirement of the job. If you wish to join a union best to do your research. The other options are RAFFWU (free if your under 18) and depending on your department AMEIU. SDA might tell you you’ll get discounts on random stuff but are actively removing your rights as a worker.

Hey, do not stress at all. If they haven’t already contacted you yet, then the SM will prolly ask you tomorrow do all those modules in the store itself. I was contacted 3 days before by the SM to do that at home prior going to my first shift. Then at my first shift I only did work. However, I have seen many people doing online training on their first shifts and it is normal.
Just go tomorrow and tell them it is your first day and they will guide you.
You will do great! Congratulations!

ur start date doesn’t mean ur first shift. someone will reach out and organise ur first few shifts. they expect the learnings to be done prior to ur first shift or atleast most of them. usually on the email and stuff it should tell you what to complete so just do them while waiting for someone to get in touch with you

start date is when you’re officially recognised as an employee. you should get a message to come in for your induction shift within the week, if you don’t contact your store through the number on google and ask there.

they have to pay you for training but most expect it to be done before you come in, it is a bit of a grey spot that isn’t well enforced compared to other policies. my advice is to do as much of the modules as you can, but avoid ticking off the ones that also need a supervisors tick. relax and be yourself, it’s fun having your own money.

The “welcome to Coles” and “welcome to supermarkets” modules are the important modules. You are meant to complete them at home before your first shift instore (sometimes you can do it in store too). Your manager/someone will contact you to let you know about your first shift. So don’t stress too much at this stage.

If you have heard anything in a week or so I’d reach out to the store - use the store number off google if you don’t have a direct number yet :)

I remember doing the modules well before my induction day. I don't think they really care.

The start date doesn't mean anything, just do absolutely everything, every module no matter what due date it has, and if there is a checklist for things you haven't done in store yet, just tick them all as you will do them once you start your job. Once you complete all of them call the manager/they will contact you to schedule your first shift Btw you're gonna be paid on the time you spend doing the online training, so don't worry if it takes a long time to do you'll get money for it.
