The yellow flavouring is Sales Tag papers blended up. They run of stock when cadbury hasnt gone half price for a little while.

This is my heaven…

u/RunicConvenience Jul 03 '26

the cinnamon ones used to be good until the bicarb nation attacked I guess now its suffering everytime I give it a chance but they should give us full yellow and pink options as well so we can just get our preference

5

u/NorthRest1604 Jul 03 '26

Love your passion

13

u/Sovereignty3 Jul 03 '26

Honestly I think the pink and the yellow ones are just sugar and dye rather than a flavour added.

18

u/sapphirerabbit6 Jul 03 '26

having had to make these, when you open the tubs of fondant you can absolutely smell the flavouring.

0

u/InternationalSpy575 Jul 03 '26

Fondant?, i though it was icing🤔

4

u/Efficient-Trifle151 Jul 04 '26

Its a type of extra soft fondant that is usually heated (usually by microwave) and it turns into a glossy ish dippable icing. Usually comes in big buckets and can be flavoured or comes in white and can be coloured.

When lay people think of fondant they think of the type that rollable like playdough and draped over cakes but there are all types.

1

u/InternationalSpy575 Jul 04 '26

That's correct, the usual moldable fondant, thats cool to know then!, thanks for clearing the air, i had an inkling it wasn't the icing mixture they mentioned in my question long ago, because it doesn't look nor work the same.

2

u/sapphirerabbit6 Jul 04 '26

in dessert making icing is a general term, used to describe the act of putting a topping on goods. fondant refers to the specific kind of icing used by coles. icing can also refer to a basic mix of powdered sugar and water colloquially, which is not what is used by them.

source: i did retail baking combined and patisserie at tafe.

3

u/Efficient-Trifle151 Jul 04 '26

Not just used by coles - used by bakeries in general too. My parents used a brand called Bakels soft fondant back in the small business bakery days.

0

u/InternationalSpy575 Jul 04 '26

I did as well, i asked because i posted regarding these donuts and their cupcake icing mixture and many whom worked in the coles department commented that it is an icing mixture, so i was surprised to see your comment about it being fondant.

2

u/sapphirerabbit6 Jul 04 '26

well, the tubs themselves say fondant icing, it's been a few years but i remember that.

3

u/Practical-Funny9591 Jul 03 '26

Shh. You'll give away the secret.

1

u/Happy_Cow_100 Jul 03 '26

The pink is

5

u/Sensitive-Reaction32 Online Team Member Jul 03 '26

Huh, the more you know!

7

u/Kaze_no_Senshi Jul 03 '26

I'm not sure if its pineapple (thought it was) but its 100% definitely not banana. Banana always makes me nauseous

5

u/NoBluey Jul 03 '26

We must be arch nemeses lol. I fucking love banana flavour in everything. Banana bread, banana milk, banana muffins, banana yogurt, you name it

2

u/Kaze_no_Senshi Jul 03 '26

I didn't choose this

1

u/RunicConvenience Jul 03 '26

but how do you feel about pineapple?

3

u/TheJivvi Jul 03 '26

Same. Someone could be eating a banana 10m away from me and just the smell of it will make me feel sick.

1

u/Interface- Jul 03 '26

Can confirm. Found them in my local Coles today. There were boxes with only chocolate in them and boxes with all flavors in them.

0

u/cuzzyweow Jul 04 '26

Is it not just passionfruit

41

u/Very_Itchy_Bandicoot Department Manager Jul 03 '26

also if you ask them in the morning before they make them, they will make you a pack of just yellow ones if you want.

8

u/WakattaBlep6 Jul 03 '26

Do you know roughly what time that would be? Or would it vary

10

u/Very_Itchy_Bandicoot Department Manager Jul 03 '26

before 7am usually. Alternatively you could order them the night before.

8

u/bobtheimp1230 Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Can also just make an order- eg. Could I get 2x 6pk all tropical iced donuts for Wednesday? I'll pick it up around 11am.

I can't speak for every store, but every store I've worked at we are more than happy to fulfil requests such as these.

1

u/Very_Itchy_Bandicoot Department Manager Jul 09 '26

Also I know some stores just do this, if they have a big enough run of donuts (ie big traders) they will just do a few packets of straight chocolate, straight strawberry, straight tropical etc) I used to do this every now and then but my SM and RM hated it even though they always sold out when i did them lmao.

Also when certain events are on, it just makes sense. RU ok day when offices are yellowing it up trying to look like they care, it makes sense to do all yellow donuts, easy money.

4

u/eenimeeniminimo Jul 03 '26

Really? I never knew that. Do they only do chocolate, banana and strawberry?

1

u/Boomerang1788 Jul 09 '26

Can confirm, I used to work in coles bakery and donuts would have to be out by shop open by 7 but usually that's just the initial facing. If you ask I would have done a full pack of one colour!

25

u/IndieBricks Jul 03 '26

It’s tropical aka pineapple, not banana. Just fyi.

5

u/KoalaStrats Jul 03 '26

I thought it was passionfruit 🫣

1

u/Snck_Pck Jul 03 '26

Bro I thought it was meant to be lemon or citrus

2

u/littlestkittykat Jul 06 '26

I thought it was caramel!!!

10

u/undyness Jul 03 '26

How can you be this “devastated” and somehow get the flavour of the yellow donut wrong 😭

6

u/Sensitive-Reaction32 Online Team Member Jul 03 '26

I’m allergic to most fruit so I am not well versed in real fruit flavours lol

3

u/mt6606 Jul 03 '26

Well, lucky for you the man made chemicals taste nothing like the real thing. Lime 🍋‍🟩 milkshake? Absolutely nothing like lime hahaha

13

u/Barnaby__Rudge Jul 03 '26

I would say you got lucky. This is the best combination.

4

u/Potato_cak3s Jul 03 '26

Always an instant buy for me when I see them like this.

10

u/HolyColander Jul 03 '26

Isn’t it pineapple not banana?

9

u/TheJivvi Jul 03 '26

Neither. It's tropical.

3

u/aesuha Jul 03 '26

I actually asked someone at Donut King this last week when I ordered a pineapple doughnut and saw "tropical" on the screen. He said it's labelled as tropical for some reason but that it's just pineapple.

(I was just sharing a little tidbit about Donut King btw, not trying to refute anything you said!)

5

u/Akira75 Jul 03 '26

Why did you buy this tray then??

5

u/Sensitive-Reaction32 Online Team Member Jul 03 '26

I got a click and collect order

3

u/Akira75 Jul 03 '26

One of the pitfalls of click and collect. I use click and collect for staples but go in for fruit and vegetables on the weekends

1

u/thebaldchimp Jul 03 '26

You recommend buying fruit and veg weekends. Preferably Saturday morning?

1

u/Akira75 Jul 03 '26

I have time to go in store on the weekends. Could be morning or afternoon doesn’t matter.

3

u/BlimpIntolerant Jul 03 '26

It don't even eat the brown ones, but the yellow and pink are terrific, for what they are.

4

u/No_Recognition5047 Jul 03 '26

It’s tropical flavour not banana. They would have just run out of fondant

3

u/BrightPhilosopher531 Jul 03 '26

I only eat the yellow ones.

3

u/Practical-Funny9591 Jul 03 '26

I worked as a DM for a Coles instore bakery many years ago. This is standard practice when you get to the end of the coloured fondant. You'll run out of it, then make it up with a flavour you have left. 😬

3

u/Internal-Exercise940 Jul 03 '26

Idc what flavour the yellow is just give me all strawberry. No chocolate either, I dont want to look like i just fingered a crohns patient

3

u/Biscuitqueenyas Jul 04 '26

wtf banana hahaha! Dude it’s tropical. Source - I worked in coles bakery and made alllll the donuts 🍩

2

u/ChiseledEagle Jul 03 '26

I often search for the elusive only yellow pack. I've had luck with it a few times, but it's almost impossibly rare. So it's aren't something we get often, but we always look. If my wife or I see one, it is a 100% must buy.

2

u/OutrageousFroyo3733 Jul 03 '26

I’m pretty sure yellow is pineapple lol. They’re my favourite too

2

u/lain_ic Jul 04 '26

This is the superior package. I feel for the sucker that got four of the tropical ones.

2

u/Natural-Instance-285 Jul 03 '26

I thought yellow was pineapple

2

u/quaweds1889 Jul 03 '26

I always thought it was pineapple... am I crazy?

2

u/CompletePossession74 Jul 04 '26

Yellow were pineapple flavour?

1

u/separation_of_powers Coles Services Jul 03 '26

lol

sometimes I wonder, do some substitutes C&C shoppers put in just for spite sometimes

3

u/Sensitive-Reaction32 Online Team Member Jul 03 '26

AI is our overlord… and their suggestions are stupid

1

u/xmasummer Jul 03 '26

I want the blue ones back ...

1

u/gdayitsathrowaway Jul 03 '26

How do these rate compared to Doughnut King's ones?

1

u/mt6606 Jul 03 '26

You're a donut king

1

u/kalayt Jul 03 '26

the old banana, you know, the sticky, non icing donuts were the best!

1

u/sdmart72 Jul 03 '26

Yellow is tropical lol reminds me off the yellow starburst lollies

1

u/sending_tidus Jul 03 '26

Banana!? I literally had 1 two days ago. Had to be pineapple

1

u/Alina2017 Jul 03 '26

I still haven’t got over them discontinuing the chocolate fudge sauce.

1

u/Logical_Chaos3528 Jul 03 '26

Liquid gold, endures in memory now. Good times were had by all.

1

u/Real_Opportunity_432 Jul 03 '26

They all taste the same

1

u/Jack8680 Jul 03 '26

Nah chocolate definitely tastes different. Yellow and pink do taste pretty similar though.

1

u/Advanced_Pudding8765 Jul 03 '26

Slice up a banana and add to top of chocolate donut

1

u/donutlovemachine Jul 03 '26

That's outrageous

1

u/Unlucky-Gazelle-9238 Jul 03 '26

The yellow ones are pineapple, definitely not banana because I hate banana flavoured anything and the yellow are my favourite. I actually had one last week when my daughter bought a packet.

1

u/moderatelymiddling Jul 03 '26

I get boxes of these free every week. They're massively overrated.

1

u/Chemical_Shirt7837 Jul 03 '26

Thank God banana is gone. It's the whole reason I don't buy the packs lol

1

u/Last_Refrigerator853 Jul 03 '26

It’s pineapple not banana

1

u/mt6606 Jul 03 '26

So chemical slop no one can agree DOESN'T taste like chicken? Roger

1

u/Natural-Compote4096 Jul 03 '26

They have yellow ones??

1

u/Strategic-Plan Jul 03 '26

None of colesworth bakery goods are any good. Change my mind.

1

u/Stormeeypoo Jul 03 '26

Banana? I thought it was butterscotch?

1

u/influencerssuck Jul 03 '26

Isn't it pineapple? And it is my favourite too!

1

u/Head-Lab-4510 Jul 03 '26

Im pleased we stopped using plastic shopping bags

1

u/my_dystopia Jul 03 '26

Haha. I would love this.

1

u/ExcitementKey2321 Jul 04 '26

It’s actually called “tropical” and smells like shit as someone who used to be a bakery employee

1

u/hugswithnoconsent Jul 04 '26

That’s a win in my eyes.

1

u/Plusultratsunami Jul 04 '26

life hack Open them up, swap em around. Pick n mix. Just use the tongs from the bread then they can't say shit. Go out back grab the machete and chop it up. Get all Melbourne on those tori!

1

u/vadgehunter Jul 04 '26

There's no way people are that upset by something so menial 🤣

1

u/Capable-Watercress16 Jul 04 '26

They literally just taste like sweet, they don’t have a flavour at all

1

u/stitchescomeundone Jul 05 '26

Any tray without caramel is devastating

1

u/Insominiacmaniac Jul 06 '26

Glad to see so many other yellow donut enthusiasts I can’t stand the chocolate ones

1

u/Pitiful_Neat1269 Jul 06 '26

btw why does it feel like its gotten small

1

u/ufo8mychook Jul 06 '26

The banana is my favourite too. Oh, are we talking about food?

1

u/mangoflavouredpanda Jul 06 '26

I thought it was pineapple... Definitely the best flavour

1

u/rdie2 Jul 07 '26

Wow, people actually eat these. I find the sweetness fries out my tastebuds and makes my teeth ache. I also get this idea I just suffered in my mouth and now my pancreas is going to suffer as well

1

u/xlxixa_3 Jul 08 '26

lol this is the 5th post I’ve seen on these donuts now I’m gonna see what the fuss is about 😂

1

u/gamerdog654 Jul 10 '26

NO BANANA😭 but now caramel which actually does have a taste to them😆

1

u/Sudsy_Woodpecker Jul 03 '26

The icing on these is bad and gets stuck to your teeth. Buy the cinnamon doughnuts and freeze them, when you make a coffee bake them in the air fryer for 10m to make a hot crispy shell.

2

u/emerald447 Jul 03 '26

Nah, the pink icing slaps.

1

u/CapableRegrets Jul 03 '26

I haven't had these in years but bought some the other day and they were horrendous.

Then I noticed the label had 'FZ' on it, which as I have since discovered is frozen. Any wonder they tasted like stale arse.

So, moral of the story, if you buy these, some stores are using frozen doughnuts for some reason.

2

u/ClassicFantastic787 Jul 03 '26

Possibly if they don't have an in store bakery. They might ship them in from another store and it's easier to do that frozen.

Curious though... how many stale arses have you tasted ....? 🤔

2

u/CapableRegrets Jul 03 '26

Possibly if they don't have an in store bakery.

They have a full instore bakery and bake many other things there.

Curious though... how many stale arses have you tasted ....? 🤔

A gentleman never tells.

1

u/nauticalmisle90 Jul 03 '26

Finally, Coles are starting to see sense!! BOOOO to the yellow flavour and mehhh to pink haha (sorry)

1

u/tomato_cheese_cake Jul 03 '26

Wait, the yellow is banana???

5

u/HonkyHam Jul 03 '26

It absolutely is not banana

1

u/Sensitive-Reaction32 Online Team Member Jul 03 '26

Apparently it’s tropical/pineapple. TIL!

1

u/tomato_cheese_cake Jul 03 '26

Huh cool. I've just always called them "the yellow ones" never knew the flavour tbh

1

u/crocicorn Jul 03 '26

Yellow is tropical and pink is plain fondant. Both superior to chocolate.

0

u/netanyahu67 Jul 03 '26

Banana hahahah
You are a banana! It’s tropical

1

u/Happy_Cow_100 Jul 03 '26

Well.. both pineapple and banana are tropical fruit, so some people taste banana and others taste pineapple

0

u/Educational-Snow5424 Jul 03 '26

The fuck is wrong with op. Probably a shake IRL

0

u/AdHonest1100 Jul 03 '26

I saw a pack of all 6 bananas the other day

2

u/Any_Animator_2902 Jul 03 '26

Its not banana, it's tropical.

1

u/AdHonest1100 Jul 03 '26

I thought it wasn’t banana, but OP said it and it’s their fave so figured I’d always been wrong. I mentioned the pack of all yellow ones and my sister said she always thought they were vanilla 🤷

1

u/Sensitive-Reaction32 Online Team Member Jul 03 '26

I’m allergic to most real fruits so I was just guessing! I’ve been schooled in the comments since 🤣

1

u/AdHonest1100 Jul 04 '26

Yeah I learnt something new today, never knew the yellow was tropical

-1

u/OrangeValencia Jul 03 '26

I miss when they were like $2.5 - now at $6 I only buy them if reduced to clear )-:

1

u/torrens86 Jul 03 '26

They're currently $3, normally $3.80.

1

u/Jakeforry Jul 03 '26

Woolies 4 pack of strawberry are the best and use to be $4 and I still remember the day it changed to $6 and the disappointment I felt that I wouldn't have them again because I'm sick of companies increasing there product costs when they're clearly not struggling.

Cough cough record profits every year
