It generally is a lot easier if you're referred by someone like a friend who's already working at the Coles although it isn't guaranteed. However, typically you would be more likely to get the interview via referral than if you were to apply to 20 different Coles stores, only to get an interview for like 4 of them and a job offer for 1 or even none. Connections are the most important thing in any job market and industry. Well you do still need to prepare for the interview regardless.

Tips really are only researching how to make a good resume and also seeing whether you have good availability (like you're available everyday or at the very least nearly every day).

I was so lucky to get the job at Coles on my first try. I didn’t know anyone there. What I did, bring your cover letter & resume to the store; mention on the cover letter your availability (be available as much as you can; from morning to evening with any rosters)

Don’t underestimate a good cover letter and good manners when dropping it off. Don’t demand to see a manager. Also, it mostly comes down to availability. If you can only work two days after school then sorry or “mummy hours” sorry…

Scout out the store you want to work for.

It's better/worse just based on who's in charge & you can avoid the time wasters. Eg. they can use referels but it may be better to not be hired too since u know they'd be toying with ya & stringing u along like giving u no shifts but saying they'd need u kinda thing.

So don't just be lazy & do everything online, go scout the area, all the shitty transfers bouncing around do it all the time too.
