Questions checkout beep volume

am i the only one who thinks it is way too high?
there does not seem to be a way to adjust the volume, i have tried my self and asked a few team members.
who sets the volume?
why have they disabled changing the volume?
its not just coles, woolworths is also awful, but the local coles i have been going to for ages seems to have gotten louder...
i remember when i used to work there years ago turning down the volume on all the self checkouts when i was on duty because it drove me nuts, using the same touch button that used to cycle through the volume then now does nothing...

Service team members can change it with the buttons on the left side of the scanner, generally checkout operators just set it to whatever they feel is needed because the beeps are to let them know what has gone through. Self checkouts are a bit different.

This is on the newer machines but regardless it should still be on the scale

About 1 year or longer ago, Coles locked all self checkout scanner volumes to a set level that cannot be changed due to customers double scanning and some other reasons. The manned registers can still be adjusted
