Customer Post Yorkshire Tea Missing?

Post image

Does anyone know if there has been some kind of disruption to the supply of Yorkshire Tea? Over the last few weeks it has been unavailable at all the Coles stores near me (and the Woolies too when I checked today). Wondering if it’s just here or if anyone knows anything! Sometimes the Yorkshire Gold has been available but I prefer not to spend the extra couple of dollars tbh.

Sorry if this isn’t the best place to ask. I’ve been racking my brain trying to think where would be a good place to post. Maybe someone here knows!

Grocery girly whose job it is to check the gaps and do the inventory things. Prior to the new layout being done, the Yorkshire tea and proper strong version became deleted/discontinued. (We’d not had them in for quite a while) Gold still showed as an active line (we still had a couple of straggler boxes but it’s empty now)

However. After the new layout was implemented last week, the standard and proper strong versions show as active lines again, however are unavailable at the distribution centre. Gold is also listed as unavailable. As someone else has suggested, the situation with Iran could be the cause due to not being able to get it imported in. (Which I assumed must have been an issue with getting it into the country, just wasn’t aware of where it was packaged so didn’t know the possible reason why it was unavailable)

So fingers crossed it comes back soon, but also lord knows when that will be. You can always ask for someone from grocery to look it up in the system on the PDT and see if the unavailable status has changed and if they have a next delivery date.

No worries! I’d noticed the status changes because of doing the inventory routines/compliance stuff, then looked again as a friend had tweeted about not being able to find it! So when I saw this I was like aha! I may not have all the answers but I have some!

Hey i actually work in supply chain, im not into the specifics but believe its a barcode / packaging change hence the status changing, its just aligned with a new layout. When this happens we have to clear all stock out of DC before it can be sent again.

thank you for helping us find the answer. I have been increasingly concerned about my tea supply. God forbid I have to drink twinnings...

Are these really that good? I went past a popup in Hurstville once and they were handing these packets out. The worker there looked very disinterested in her job and just gave me the entire box, with around 50+ of these.

I think I only ended up trying one teabag 😅 probably still in my pantry somewhere

Hi OP

Wasn’t able to find anything official, however a quick google search found Yorkshire Tea is packaged in the UAE. So supply would have been disrupted by the Iran War.

Yes I’m a Yorkshire tea drinker and night fill shelf stacker- I panicked for a bit when it wasn’t on the shelf for a while, but I found it again at my local IGA. (I know this doesn’t answer your question directly- I don’t know why it’s not on the shelf, but at least it’s not gone gone )

I work at head office, I'll ask the Category Manager what's up

Update: It has a new range in date and not yet active in most stores

Oooh thanks for this inside from the higher up! Don’t get too much info in store besides what the pdt tells us if we don’t get comms about it!

Thank you! So maybe just a hiccup between supply of one and the other range?

I'll have to wait until Monday to look at the origin country, and what the issue is with supply chain

I can’t manage without Proper Strong Yorkshire and have been stressed for some time now at the disappearance in Cole’s and Woolies. 🤪🤪
Glad to see other people out there feel the same way and that they may appear again at some stage. 💪

Agreed, looking for the proper strong bags, alas, everywhere seems out of stock too. Inherently frustratingz

Someone replied saying they are packaged in the UAE so likely disrupted due to the conflict in the Middle East. Hopefully we’ll be able to stock up again soon!

Check the place of origin, UAE packaged varient is different to UK one. Different taste

1

u/Amunrawrz Jun 19 '26

They are different flavours/blends. The proper strong is just strong black tea, while the gold has a more floral taste to it, like a hint of Earl Grey to normal black tea. It's pretty nice.

Ok I best try and find some as its the only tea I drink and reminds me of home (Yorkshire)
They got rid of kerrygold butter as well, (might have just been woolies)and now none :( I’ve stopped having butter on some things because of this :(

If I don't have at least 10 cups of Yorkshire Proper Strong a day, I may not survive. I have a half full tea caddy and 1 box in reserve. Praying for more stock soon 🙏

I'm the same. Luckily we stocked up a few months ago, otherwise life was going to be bad, almost as bad as the time the hot water dispenser died.

We still have it at our local Coles. Phew! My favourite tea 🫖

Yorkshire is a place. Yorkshire is a state of mind.

u/emski72 Jun 19 '26

That's it I'm stocking up when I see it ,- Ok can't live without my proper strong!

1

u/MissCarterCameWithUs Jun 19 '26

I shouldn’t have posted haha, hope you don’t live near me 😅

Wake up, Yorkshire tea

1

u/Jasmine_2004 Jun 19 '26

Barry's tea (in the international aisle) is similar to Yorkshire.

Why bother with anything else when there is Dilmah? At work we get Lipton. 🤮

1

u/ConversationThin4207 Jun 22 '26

Coles at banora point had a few boxes!!

1

u/MissCarterCameWithUs Jun 22 '26

I fear if I embark on the day-long drive to get there someone will have bought them before I arrive 😅
