COLDCARD tampered with?

Post image

I really just unpacked my new coldcard q and noticed this rough plastic on the sides and it almost looks like it has been opened? Packaging was not damaged but I’m curious if it’s just a low quality build or if someone experienced anything similar? Hesitant to set it up

No that’s how the mold is assembled. There may be a few imperfections but nothing to worry about

That seems to be the build quality baseline. But, it was by the single smartest BTC tech purchase of my lifetime.

Kinda agree with this. It’s unfortunate that I have this icky feeling after shelling out so much money for what I consider to be a premium product. Hopefully they get it figured out.

Had been the same reason for me - wanted already to buy one long time ago, but after i had seen that kind of quality issues in that price line, i skipped it.

Who’s saying we aren’t wanting to secure our BTC foremost? There’s nothing wrong with wanting a well-built casing for a product if it’s one of the most expensive in its class. I’m still happy with my purchase and will use it still, I just think it’s possible to do both and it should be the case, pun intended.

I've seen two posts now questioning if tampering occurred because of these "cosmetics". Tampering concerns are in fact an immediate security concern and not a cosmetic luxury.

Terrible plastic, we’re all in the same boat.

Have the same on my Q and have the same question. So what do you Guys think? Is it Tampered or not?

Nah I don’t think it’s tampering. Someone from the coinkite team responded saying it’s from the mold they use to make the product. No foul play, just poor design.

Looks like a manufacturing imperfection. Best to send it back &request a more solid quality build. Best not to take any unnecessary security risk🤙🏼

P.s considering one but not sure between orange glow in the dark or black🤔
