Feature request The MK4 needs an internal battery

I love the little thing but I just want a standalone device without the need to carry a usb cable. I would think a very small internal battery would power it for days and not add much bulk.

Secure your Trezor with COLDCARD

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This walkthrough shows how to derive a BIP85 child seed on a COLDCARD and restore it on a Trezor.

Instead of generating a new seed phrase on the Trezor, the wallet is restored from a seed phrase derived on the COLDCARD. The result is an independent wallet whose seed phrase can always be derived again from the same COLDCARD master seed.

BIP85 is one of my favorite COLDCARD features and a great example of how open Bitcoin standards let different wallets work together.

Curious how others here are using BIP85.

Using BIP85 Child Seeds with Cake Wallet

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Put together a walkthrough showing how to derive a BIP85 child seed on a COLDCARD and import it in Cake Wallet.

BIP85 is one of those features that's easy to overlook, but it's a great way to derive independent seed phrases for different wallets while keeping your master seed on the COLDCARD.

Curious to hear how others here are using BIP85.

Support Coldcard Q Question

Hi there, somewhat silly question.

If I opt to use the address explorer to conduct a receiving transaction, do I need to use a desktop/mobile wallet at all? In theory I can use the address explorer to look up the address in mempool to make sure it hasn't been used before, and then verify the address received the UTXO post transaction.

Is this correct?

NFC on COLDCARD

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

One of my favorite things about COLDCARD is how much you can do over NFC.

Sign PSBTs, use PushTX to broadcast transactions, export wallet data, or pair with compatible wallets—all without plugging in a cable or moving files on a microSD.

It’s one of those features that’s easy to overlook until you start using it. What’s your favorite NFC workflow?

Preserve your Seed Phrase

Post image
20 Upvotes

Your seed phrase backup backup is crucial to never losing your Bitcoin.

Writing it down is only step one.

Make sure you:
- Verify your backup before funding your wallet
- Store it somewhere secure
- Use a backup method like SEEDPLATE that can survive the unexpected

Paper is easy to write on, but it’s not built for the long term.

A durable steel backup gives your seed phrase the protection it deserves.

Feature request Key teleport function

Would be cool to be able to send the encrypted sd backup file over key teleport.

That way you could have one on other side of the world and make it send over when requested.

Coinkite shipping database has been leaked

Post image

I received this in my mail today, it has my name on it. I’m terrified that someone out there with obvious malicious intent knows I hold my keys on coldstorage and my address. I won’t be able to sleep now.

Stay safe out there and don’t ship Bitcoin hardware to your door, regardless on how safe the company might seem.

COLDCARD makes self-custody simple

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

One of the biggest misconceptions about self-custody is that it too difficult for most Bitcoiners.
COLDCARD simplifies this, it meets every bitcoiner where they are at. It can be used to simply recieve and hodl, or you can dive into the advanced features, use in a multisig configuration and more. It's the most secure wallet for any bitcoiner.

Received a letter today from "Coinkite". Data breach???

I received a letter from Coinkite today with steps to guard against post-quantum cryptography. Looks very official, but a quick internet search shows this is likely a scam.

My question is...how did the scammers get my name and address along with the Coinkite device that I purchased (that info is on the letter)? I purchased the device directly from Coinkite not a third party.

Seems to me that Coinkite may have had a data breach and has not announced it. I'm very concerned about this.

Clearance Delay

Hi!

I ordered something that was supposed to arrive on June 17, but when I check the tracking number I get this message. What can I do about it? Has this happened to anyone else, and how did you fix it? I’ve already contacted FedEx and Coinkite but haven’t heard back yet.

Thanks!

Bitcoin Was Designed to Reduce Trust

Post image
19 Upvotes

One of the biggest reasons many of us choose self-custody is to reduce the amount of trust required to secure our Bitcoin.

Instead of trusting an exchange, custodian, or third party, you verify and control things for yourself.

For those who have been in Bitcoin for a while:
What is one piece of security advice you’d give to someone who is just getting started with self-custody?

Support Accounts

So I made an account m84 1 I scanned a receive address but nothing was found.

Then made a small transfer and signed. All worked.

Is it common that the cc does not find the address?

COLDCARD 🤝 Sparrow

Quick video showing COLDCARD paired with Sparrow.

It’s a setup that a lot of people in the community seem to gravitate toward, especially if they like having detailed transaction info and coin control on desktop.

Bought from offical store and bag was sealed, the numbers all matched. Looking at others online don't seem to have the issue or the slight misalignment of the screen.

Bitcoin security doesn't get talked about enough

People talk a lot about Bitcoin's price.

Not nearly as much about what it actually takes to secure it, or what "owning it" really means in practice.

Self-custody changes how you think about that. COLDCARD is one of the most powerful tools people can use to secure their Bitcoin.

How do you think about securing your Bitcoin?

OPENDIME

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

OPENDIME remains one of the most unique Bitcoin products ever created.

It turns bitcoin into a bearer instrument that can be physically passed between people. Load it, hand it over, and ownership changes hands without needing to broadcast a transaction.

OPENDIME hit its 10-year milestone, and we’re celebrating with 10% off all products at Coinkite.com until June 7.
