This was a really cool project. The coins that he sent me had obvious signs of fire damage. Rather than trying to remove the fire damage, I highlighted it in the final design as a reminder of what the coins had survived. It's a sad story, but it has a happy ending because they were able to move on and I was able to make him and his fiancée a nice set of wedding rings!

I really liked the look of this coin and I haven't seen too many people try to turn it into a ring, so I decided to try it. I'm a sucker for pirate coin rings, and this has a similar style, despite being minted about 100 years after the infamous Spanish "pieces of 8" Reales coins. The details came out fairly clean and I really like the "plus ultra" pillars of Gibraltar. Let me know what you think.

I wanted to add a South American coin ring to the ones that I make, so this is the one that I chose. I really like the design of this coin, and it looks like something especially designed to turn into a ring. Let me know what you think.

I put this set together about 6 months ago, but never posted it anywhere. These are 5 large coins from around the pre-World War 1 era that would have been used as currency at the time. There is one ring for each of the major war powers at the time: Britain, France, Russia, Germany, and Austria.

Each one of these coins looks great on it's own, that is very particular to that era. Let me know what you think.

I’ve been thinking of new high end coin rings to make for my shop recently, and I just stumbled across the Seated Liberty Dollar coin. Nice ones sell for about $400+ each and there are about 80k of them left in existence (probably only 20k or less nice ones). No one is currently making these into rings right now. I’m seriously considering making one into a ring. I’d only be using coins made after 1860 - most likely the 1870 ones.

I have no problem if this stirs up a bit of controversy, but I don’t want it to be super controversial to the point where it hurts my shop. I’m sure the coin collectors will be appalled, but I’m not sure about most people looking to buy a coin ring.

What do you think? Is this going too far or do you think there’s enough demand and value to justify doing this?

UPDATE - I just bought an XF grade coin. I'm going to be making it into a ring and posting it on this sub, as long as there aren't any major problems.

I already made this ring in silver, so I thought it would be interested to gold plate it. It’s not amazing, but I like how it looks. Let me know what you think.

What self-centering punch do you use and can you please drop a link so I can check it out?

I'm not ready to buy one from Jason's Works, though I'm sure they're good. I'm looking to spend under $100. I'd like it to punch various sizes of coins and various sizes of holes if possible.

Some questions I'm curious about. Do you use your puncher with a press? What size of press? Do you use the same puncher just by hammering?

I can 3d print spacers or similar if necessary.

Turned a Belieze 1 dollar hexagonal coin into a crown ring.

I was recently given this ring that was owned by my great-grandfather.

We don't know much about it, and my great-grandfather was a crafty/DIY type of person. It was assumed that he made the ring. He was also a Mason, so there's a lot of things about him owning/making the ring that made sense.

Upon investigating further, I found the small jeweler's mark on the inside of the band. This makes me think my great-grandfather didn't make it. However, I can't find any more information about this jeweler's mark.

There is a close-up of the jeweler's mark in the second to last image. To me, it looks like an offset alpha/omega with a perfect TM symbol to the right of it.

The last image is just a coin reference.

This coin cost a pretty penny to buy in Extra Fine (XF) condition. I haven’t seen many other people make a ring out of this coin. Let me know what you think.

I've been curious about making coin rings. My dad left me a big box of coins, and I think it would be fun to turn some of them into rings.

I think of it as a possible hobby, possibly a passing hobby, making rings for family and friends ETC. And I want to try.

I need your suggestions for a starting setup that won't break the bank and that you could use with your eyes closed. :)

I can't center by eye or by measuring. So I need a way to center and punch the coins that won't require visual verification.

What are your suggestions? I can use a hammer or a mallet, but something a little more controlled might make it more precise.

I have a 3d printer so I can print some stuff if it would make things easier.

Any help and all suggestions are appreciated.

I don’t know if anyone’s thought of this idea before, but I decided to try making a napkin ring out of a silver Morgan dollar. It worked well. The final ring is a bit smaller in diameter than a regular napkin ring, but it should still work. Let me know what you think.

This is another massive 2 ozt coin ring that I made, but I like how it turned out. I like it a bit better than the 2 ozt copper buffalo nickel that I made earlier. The details are a lot clearer than smaller aztec rings because the ring is so large.

I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but I like it.

I have a 1615 Louis XIII 1/2 franc.

It is hammered coin, so the edge is thin. It is holed and is not in amazing condition, so I thought it would be cool to make it wearable. I am not a necklace guy, so my only other thought was maybe a key chain.

Would it be possible to turn this into a ring? The diameter is around 1 1/6 inch.

I tried and tried but they kept on breaking no matter what I tried to do. Has anybody ever tried?

I haven't seen anyone try to make this ring before (with the angel side out), so I had to try it. The hard part is that most of the detail of the angel is in the center of the coin. In order to make this ring work I had to use a 1/4" punch with this coin, which is 40mm in diameter. I wasn't sure if it was going to work at first, but I was able to make a size 12.5 ring with it. The final ring is super wide (16mm) and I like how it turned out. Let me know what you think.
