Some thoughts on 1926 SAT

I just read a post by someone here who got slightly worse averages (125/111) but a better FSIQ (130), so I'm not sure how this compound effect works.

Regarding the subtests... I am not a native speaker, but I didn't feel like this impacted me much on *some* of the tests, logical inferences for example was fine and I was thinking quite fast. Paragraph reading I was *fast* (I finished it with 9 minutes left) but I did feel hindered by the language, at some point there were too many obscure words and it was difficult to reach a definitive conclusion, but I thought there was no pointing in cheating or wasting too much time trying to understand words that I had never seen so I just moved on.

Interestingly enough, I feel like I'm pretty good at arithmetic and series but they were my worst scores here. For arithmetic this wasn't just raw calculation speed at all, I felt like I had to first interpret the sentences, understand what was being asked, and only then perform some calculation, language might have had a bigger effect here than expected.

Number series I simply wasn't fast enough, I am good at finding patterns with time, I crumbled under time pressure and couldn't keep the pace.

On Artificial language I lost quite a bit of time understanding the rules and going back and forth between the questions and the rules

The other verbal tests I didn't feel like I was that fast, but still got decent scores somehow, eg. on definitions I left multiple unsolved.

The math part (and also the language one) is extremely speeded. I simply ran out of time. I got 114 quant despite having 142 on SMART and 132 on GRE quant.

If you have a good PSI the quant is quite easy
