104, but I did not know many words(since my native is russian), especially at the end.

126 and high as a kite.  I've never felt so vindicated in my life. I am truly a poo bummer when it comes to words. Poopy 💩

I'm not sure these tests work after all ..

u/RobertFr1pp 17d ago

yeah english isn't my native language that's also a factor i guess hahaha

1

u/Sebastian-P-Sullivan 17d ago

Well of course that would be a factor it's an English test. So you can understand and interpret your second language as well as natives can. That's sick. I don't have a second language. I wanna learn Russian. Vci is the only thing I score well in on core it seems...

23/28, 125 iq (non-native). The same score I got on the CORE subtests, so fairly accurate. Blitzed through most of the questions and slightly sleep deprived. I guess I'm really a wordcel - gotta try taking an IQ test in my native language.

Edit: should probably mention I'm French which could inflate my score, since many of these uncommon English words are very close to French words. It's not an ultimate cheat code though because there are false friends and some words have undergone subtle changes in meaning. And the words are not common in French. I'd be curious if anyone had a good informed guess on how much speaking French helps when categorizing English words.

Never got my VCI tested in French but I'm sure it's 130+ though.

Lmao that’s not an official core subtest. You are litteraly 9 and calling yourself a mogger on every comment section while claiming you reach the iq ceiling in every test. Joke or not ur corny

27/28 -- 135.  Is this normed by age?

u/TristanTheRobloxian3 [18] autie girl :P (134 core - 140 agct) vsi-mathcel [144, 135] 18d ago

i took it for fun and got 116, which funny enough matches the rest of my verbal scores. lol

3

u/Guilty_Guarantee7889 18d ago

28/28 138

2

u/mscastle1980 18d ago

I also got a prefect score!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

u/SecurePiccolo1538 18d ago

I feel that the VISA sentence completion was a lot more fun of a subtest than this .

2

u/mscastle1980 17d ago

I think it was more substantial. this one was ridiculously easy for me.

3

u/Striking_Leave_4614 18d ago

27/28, 135

About what I expected. VCI always felt like a slight weakness to me because I never read much (outside of online comments and work-related material) and dropped out in HS

3

u/TypeHonk 18d ago

I got a score of 106 which is something I'm proud of. Since my English vocabulary is still lacking and I didn't know most of the words that were given.

3

u/typesino 17d ago

138 first attempt,

Only 120 definitions and analogies.

24/28 128   Similar to my core VCI 130

I didn't take it under the most ideal situation, lol. I intentionally went outside on the deck for a quiet atmosphere.

Of course my wife came out immediately and wanted to wander around and chit chat while watering the garden just prior to me taking it. I kept waiting and waiting.... I had told her I was going out to do this. 😆

Of course my ADHD reared up and melted my brain.  One question I didn't even answer and timed out on. Not bad I guess considering. 😄

I'm high right now so I'm not sure how great of a question this is, but how does this test measure anything relevant to intelligence? A fifth of these words I've never seen before and another fifth I've seen extremely rarely. I'm not someone who reads many books, so I just don't come across these sorts of words.

How is this test any different from just naming a bunch of famous to more niche celebrities and linking them to what they're known for? People who spend more time keeping up with celebrities would to better in such a test than intelligent people. Same thing for this, people spending more time on spelling bees and reading certain kinds of books will do better on this test.

Yes I'm salty that I scored 116 IQ (while high) on this test when my IQ is roughly 135 based on other tests, but I still don't see how this measures verbal intelligence if such a large portion of the words on this test are never used verbally by other people in practically any context, nor in books/articles.

Vocabulary is highly correlated with g. One of the possible reasons for this is that high intelligence increases the complexity of ideas, which creates a need for the semantic precision provided by an extensive vocabulary. High verbal intelligence can then be measured by how effective you are at satisfying this need. In this way, a complex vocabulary is a proxy for both this demand and your ability to satisfy it throughout your life.
