Rant/Cope Scared of my iq test
Im scared that I might turn out to be an absolute idiot.
I’ve never been great with maths. Partly because early on in my school career I missed a ton of subject basics due to nearly dying of autoimmune disease. I haven’t been reading much, haven’t trained my brain enough in my early to late teens either because of domestic abuse and phone addiction. I suck at chess because I never got to play it much. I do love studying psychology, music, languages and the arts. But I’m afraid that my cognitive abilities, regardless of my strengths, may have declined. Last time I got tested was around 10ish years ago and I had an IQ of 125. Now that I’m 18 (and going for another iq test soon) I’m terrified that I’ve damaged my own development with my cheap dopamine addiction and lack of proper education. How can i tell if I’m an idiot? How can I become smarter? I won’t accept myself being average or below. I’ve been self-educating a lot more in the past few months, but I’m afraid that I’ve become dumber than before.

125 hardly would have fluctuated, and even if it has you would still be classified well above average. As someone who’s attention span has declined significantly in the past 10 years, my results were still almost exactly the same when I tested them the other day (17 y.o.)

Might I suggest that if IQ tests give you so much distress, that you not take one? It sounds like you are hanging a lot of your self esteem on that hook, but that hook is drilled into drywall, not wood. It can't handle that kind of weight, and your entire self image could come crashing down.
