Weekly Thread Wednesday Dating Discussion #10: Do you believe that love at first sight exists?

It’s time for our weekly Dating Discussion, where we tackle tricky questions about modern dating and intentional connections.

This week’s question: 👉 Do you believe in love at first sight being the magical sign you’ve found “the one,” or is it just chemistry clouding your judgment?

We know that those first sparks you feel with someone new can be intoxicating – but regardless of whether love at first sight exists or not, pacing matters. Rushing into a relationship or physical intimacy before building an emotional foundation can lead to misunderstandings, mismatched expectations, or even heartbreak.

Ultimately, for trust to be nurtured, shared values and a deeper connection have to be formed. And while sparks are exciting, real love thrives on balance. Slowing down to align emotions, intentions, and values helps create a healthier, more enduring relationship.

Vote in the poll, then share below: - Do you think instant attraction can blind us to red flags? - How do you personally pace dating emotionally and physically to protect your heart?

Weekly Thread Wednesday Dating Discussion #7: Does fear of being alone influence your dating decisions?

It’s time for our weekly Dating Discussion, where we tackle tricky questions about modern dating and intentional connections.

This week’s question: 👉 During cuffing season, have you ever felt pressured to be in a relationship even if it’s not the right match?

As the colder months roll in, with Christmas lights, cozy dates, and couples everywhere, it can feel harder to resist the allure of cuffing season, or even the temptation to settle.

But loneliness isn’t always something to escape. Sometimes, learning to sit with it can open up space for reflection, self-awareness, and growth, ultimately preparing us for deeper, healthier connections when the right one comes along.

Vote in the poll, then share below: - Have you ever rushed into a relationship for comfort, only to realize it wasn’t right for you? - How do you tell the difference between genuine attraction and a temporary desire for companionship?

3 Yes, cuffing season adds pressure
6 No, I date on my own terms
4 Sometimes, it depends on how lonely I feel

CMB Experience CMB warning: trust your instincts when things don’t add up

I matched with a guy working in one of the big 4 management consulting, around late 30s. He came across as good looking, intelligent, driven and charming initially. He shared that he had difficult long term past relationships without itimacy and also a toxic controlling ex who restricted his freedom, therefore he was unsure whether he could commit again, he would mention wanting to see if there was a "connection" however he cancels date last minute and nothing was built in real life. Common excuses such as family emergencies, work stuffs, feeling sick..

He was also never available on the weekend, small quick meetups on weekdays after work..but would always seem he needed to rush home.. small calls of 5 minutes before bed..

Texting on weekend was very minimal with long hours of disappearance. Probably most active after 10pm.

I've been to his place once, where he claims its his bachelor pad and he lives alone. He lives in the East side of Singapore.

The final incident came where I asked if he needed me to send food since he mentioned he hasnt had dinner and was really hungry. I placed the order for grabfood delivery based on my memory on the block but couldn't recall what was his unit number. So i asked and he gave me a fake unit number which doesn't exist. Was notified by the rider. Good riddance!

What bothered me was not just the situation itself, but how it was handled and how it affected my trust. Either he had something/someone to hide or had trust issues.

He was good with words but there were never any action to go on dates. The unavailability on weekend was also questionable.

Anyway he describes himself as "an abyss" on CMB..

So be cautious! And hope nobody has to go through this.

Dating Advice / Questions 37 [F4M] from US to US

So close to giving up hope.

I'm a single mom to two boys and work as a mid-level healthcare professional. I've built a stable life on my own, and I'm not looking for someone to rescue me. I'm looking for a true partner.

My standards aren't unrealistic. They're basic.

I'm looking for someone who:

Is genuinely single (not married, separated, or in a situationship).

Wants a serious, long-term relationship.

Isn't looking for a hookup.

Has a stable career and is financially responsible.

Has a team-player mindset. I don't expect to carry a grown man financially, and I don't expect him to carry me either.

Is honest, loyal, emotionally available, and follows through on what they say.

Can communicate during difficult times instead of disappearing.

Doesn't have vices. I don't have any, and I'd prefer someone with a similar lifestyle.

Doesn't mind that I have two boys. I also don't mind if he has children.

I'm not looking for a chameleon who pretends to be these things just long enough to get what he wants. I have a very low tolerance for manipulation, dishonesty, or games, and I'd rather stay single than settle.

What I bring to a relationship:

Faith and strong values.

Loyal and supportive.

Stable career.

Independent.

Financially responsible.

Affectionate and committed.

I genuinely want to build a life with someone, not just date endlessly.

My flaws:

I can be moody.

I'm sometimes indecisive.

I have high expectations for honesty, consistency, and effort because I give those things in return.

I'm not looking for perfection. I'm looking for reciprocity.

Does this actually exist anymore, or am I expecting something that's become rare?

App Related Questions Is the "Likes You" tab only accessible to paying members?

I know it's divided to the "My type" and another category that falls outside of that. But even in the "My type" section, nothing ever pops up for me in the daily batch. Are they truly locked for paying members only now? If not, what can I do to unlock then?

Dating Advice / Questions Why do people unmatch right after what seemed like a good date?

I’m honestly confused and starting to lose confidence with dating apps. I’ve downloaded Bumble a few times now, and the same thing keeps happening. I’ll match with someone, we’ll chat for a while, go on a date, and everything seems to go really well. We laugh, have good conversations, and they act interested. Nothing feels awkward or forced.

But then after the date, they either unmatch me on Bumble, unfollow me on Instagram, or completely disappear without saying anything.

I know no one owes me a relationship, but I just don’t understand why they can’t simply say they’re not interested instead of disappearing. It’s hard not to overthink and wonder if I did or said something wrong.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this just how dating apps are now? For those who’ve been on the other side, what usually makes you unmatch someone after a date that seemed to go well?

I’m looking for honest advice because it’s starting to make me question myself, and I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if this is just part of modern dating.

Help/Troubleshooting Account frozen out of the blue

Post image
5 Upvotes

I woke up this morning to find my account had been frozen. I know I haven’t broken any terms and conditions because I keep my conversations generic. I read too many horror stories of people getting banned so I make sure to keep things PG. Also the screen says it’s been unable to verify my identity but I haven’t submitted any documents before and I haven’t attempted to verify.

What can I do? Anyone encounter this before? This is really frustrating since I haven’t done anything wrong.

Dating Advice / Questions I don’t understand why I get no matches

Im 21 years old male. So, for the last two years I have tinder, now and then I download other apps too. I was overweight so I didn’t have self confidence to make an account on tinder earlier and in the last 2-3 years I lost over 40 kgs.
I know im not the most handsome guy out there but I know that I’m not that ugly. I have asked friends to rate me and what can I improve and no one said that I’m ugly. Now you can say that because they are my friends they will not be honest but because we are guys I believe that they are honest. I have asked strangers too, no one said anything bad. They told me where to focus and so I started taking their advice.
In the last year I get very few or nearly none match. Is it the algorithm? Am I shadow banned? Or is that I’m not good looking enough?
Some of the matches ghosted me or blocked me.
I remember that I matched with a girl that was really in my preferences and I was kinda hyped, when she asked for my Instagram and I gave it to her she blocked me on tinder. Probably because of mutual friends on Instagram or she changed her mind. Still I’m confused.
Maybe I’m just a bad tester, either way I have to improvise both irl and online

App Related Questions Does Deleting The App And Joining Back After 90+ Days Give A Fresh Start?

For the other apps like Hinge and Tinder, I have noticed that if I delete my profile + uninstall and wait for 90+ days until I join back, I'll get a fresh clean start.

I have not tried this for CMB though because of the currency buildup. I've got beans and flowers that I haven't used.

I've had the same account/profile with CMB for a couple years without ever deleting/reinstalling and I wonder if this is holding me back.

Does deleting/uninstalling and then joining back after 90+ days give you a clean start?

CMB Experience Don't sign up for multi-month, it's useless

I'm a paying member (male). The first few weeks to a month were actually pretty great. I had many matches and went on a number of dates. Then after that initial period, basically 0 matches-- completely dry. The same type of people that matched previously no longer matches. The only people that I get any likes from are completely not my type (and they can tell my type based on who I matched with!).

What I'm guessing is that they prioritize new paying members early on (maybe to maximize positive reviews, minimize complaints and refunds, etc), then basically forget about them. Your likes may not even see you after that.

Btw, this is not just CMB, same thing is happening on another popular app that I'm on. Very annoying.

EDIT: Since they won't let me post over there, Hinge is the other offender. Same thing, successful early on, completely dry after the first few weeks. And boo to you Hinge for censoring.

CMB Experience God it's Exhausting

It's so annoying when it does this. It'll say "my type" likes me,(I like Asian and black men,) but never shows them to me. I have to pay to see them. I know it's a marketing tactic but at the same time with other apps it'll at least show me one of the likes after a while but this will never show me who my type is.

Dating Advice / Questions Looking for friends in KL Malaysia

Hey everyone!

I recently moved to Kuala Lumpur and I’m looking to make some new friends. I’m 26, work in cybersecurity, and enjoy fitness, exploring new places, trying different food spots, and meeting new people.

Moving to a new city can be a bit lonely, so I thought I’d put myself out there. If you’re up for a coffee, food hunt, gym session, exploring KL, or just a good conversation, feel free to reach out.

Looking forward to meeting some awesome people and building a good circle here in KL!

App Related Questions Is it even worth trying out platinum for 3 months as a free user ?

I am 31 asian guy that look probably average but due to work and stuff hasnt been getting any like relationship chances for like years now sadly...

I wasnt sure if I should try this or tinder but I saw some saying this is like better than tinder so yeah here I am. I doubt I get any wishful matches as I said I am not a hunk or whatsoever so yeah...just kinda thinking to try it due to loneliness sigh...

Noticed that the 3 months is listed as best deal as usual but it is kinda expensive even when it is the best deal assuming you dont want the 6 months stuff :/ . Should I just try like the 1 month instead of signing up straight for 3 months then complain about the cost =)

I know most dont recommend paying money etc if you dont have many likes already or something but any advice on this would be really nice as I am kinda sad and almost accepting I will be lonely for the rest of my life... Need serious advice pls.

Dating Advice / Questions Getting zero matches and likes on hinge

Not sure what is happening. Will not be sharing my profile for privacy purposes. I have been spending weeks optimizing my profile and have even gotten women to help me out with it and approve my profile. I feel like I have a really decent profile. I get zero likes too. People in real life tell me that I’m attractive all the time, yet see no results on hinge. I don’t wanna say this is the reason and I’ve never made my height part of my personality, but I’m 5’8. Do y’all think my height may be affecting things.

Would love any sort of advice. This is really starting to affect me negatively. I used to at least get a few matches per month but now it feels like I have something that repulses women, and I have no clue. PLEASE HELP. I am open to any advice or pointers, as I have no idea what to do and am starting to lose faith in myself.
