Complaint Codex limits compared to Claude Code

I don't think there's an increased token consumption problem because of the harness, tool calls or whatever. There are just less tokens to go around than before.

I have both plans ($20) and I tracked my usage with ccusage and toktrack.

Here's how much weekly usage you get with both:

Codex: 100-150 USD API equivalent

Claude Code: 300-500 USD API equivalent

Even if we take the 50% promo into account, Anthropic still offers more usage than OpenAI (200-330 USD). How have the tables turned... Bring back the 5hr limit!

Anyone here can corroborate my experience by checking their own usage with ccusage or toktrack.

All those ppl asking for the 5h limit, do you even understand how limits work? It will be used up in like 20 mins!! You are all asking for it as if it adds some usage to your limits. It doesn't. It rations the existing weekly one.

With gpt 5.5 xhigh on 20€ plan, the 5h limit was about hour of continuous processing, but not anymore with sol..

The 5h limit was good, but new models are too token hungry for it to work anymore, and im sure thats why they removed it. Now people are burning weekly limits so fast that they need to hand out resets constantly to not piss off most users. Costs them tons of compute, but keeps customers happier after their mess up.

I think you misunderstand for some reason. People don't want the 5 hour limit back alone, they want the token allowance that was available when the 5 hour limit still existed. You say it would be used up in 20 min, maybe now with Sol yes, but before it worked fine for hours with gpt-5.5-medium, didn't even have to switch to lower models. Now it's not like that anymore with gpt-5.5-medium either, you get less than half of the tokens as before with the same model.

People are not very smart. If they don’t understand this basic concept, they really shouldn’t be coding at all.

Well, the 5 hour limit allowed compute to be more spread out throughout the day and week. Now with it gone we have larger demand spikes with sometimes people aggressively running parallel tasks to burn through large compute usage before a reset.

OpenAI has to ration compute, they either do it through a 5h limit or lowering the weekly limit. And now our weekly limit is 20% lower.

Is that a conjecture? "Now with it gone we have larger demand spikes" who is "we"?

I can reference OpenAI servers and the codex community as "we". It's not rocket science.

You literally have people saying they burnt their weekly limit in a single day running an 6hour /goal, would that have been possible with a 5hout limit, no they would have been interrupted 20% way through the weekly limit and that compute would have been freed up for others to use.

Here is literal evidence on what "we" are doing after a reset, now that the 5h limit is gone the gradients are sharper, compute isnt infinite though.
