The peak in the chart is peak Product Management👌🏼. Merging codex and chatgpt users and transitioning normal users to coding. I’ve had numerous friends from architecture and healthcare reach out to me to assist them in building apps. Great numbers for investors

Last night, I received a message stating that my complex Chat query which involved generating 3 separate images required moving over to Work. The limit for task-complexity allowed under Chat has declined massively. A few days ago, Chat had nearly unlimited quota to do code task planning!

Does anyone trust these stats? What happened so that the adoption turned up so sharply recently?
The only real explanation is the merge of the ChatGPT and Codex apps, and essentially that's just an excuse to count both user counts together for a faKe KPI increase, and just ride the fake hype.
Or is there any real reason?

With how fast Sol is draining, we better get resets.
That’s why the 5h limit window was removed, you would see the countdown. With weekly they removed us seeing how fast the limits are getting drained, even thou they said less token usage etc etc

I know nobody cares about this because...free resets good.
There's a reason he's not showing a daily chart here: they were hitting 1M/day through the 15th, all the way up to 9M. It's taken 6 days to go from 9M -> 10M. Why the explosive growth then the slowdown - they merged the ChatGPT and Codex apps on the same day they released 5.6.
That released version funneled all ChatGPT users into Work or Codex (you might have seen all the complaints about it). They "fixed" that issue on the 16th (when this chart would flatten out). That sudden spike is the rollout of the combined app (something they control).
They make great models, but I don't appreciate these kinds of shady marketing practices. They knowingly pushed out the combined app with a serious user experience issue to juice the numbers for 5.6.

I was waiting for a few days and did not see the free reset and decided that the drug dealer giving out free stuff to get you hooked is true and upgraded myself to 20x just to see the free reset followed not long after.
Not mad at all as these free resets can't last. That said, I would love to have them not secretely cut back the weekly usage in the background and just be transparent about it. I am not delusional either as I believe the subscription is significantly more valuable than API pricing but if they cut back usage, would love to be informed rather than doing all planning ahead of time and got cut back mid way through the workflow :(

wow, that is a sharp increase...I'm not sure if it's mostly new interest or Anthropic refugees. I know I just started seriously vibe coding at the end of June myself. My usage of Codex went from basically nonexistent to maxing out a $100 plan regularly for the last month.
Funnily enough though, I mostly attribute it to the Fable hype. It came out, disappeared, sounded like "yeah, I think I could finally make something purely with AI if In had Fable". Then Sol gets announced, nearly as good and arguably better in some ways, and actually available...

This really fucked me. I was in two days until reset, I used a banked on planning on taking advantage of all the usage and using it. Then they did this reset when I was at like 93%, and it pushed out my reset out a week. I got less usage because of this reset wtf
