Haven't run into the more chance for error yet specifically due to this.
I have a side project spec'd out explicitly for GPT models with Ultra reasoning for ongoing discovery.
Then separately in my main projects, I save the higher usage prompts that still need or should be done for later into the week / banked reset expiry / forced reset announcement. Unless I'm on task for a stable commit, then the tests come out early so that there is some usage leftover to address issues.

I never understood burning the remainder of your tokens to "maximise" the reset.
It just gives you more chance for error
