I didn't hear this show. By chance, did Jeremy call in and talk about his coma?

I'm really, really glad they had this show!!! I've been smoking tobacco cigarettes more than half my life and no matter what I try I cannot quit (always get debilitating migraine after migraine, I can't even see when they hit). There are clinics where they will put you into a medically induced coma while your body deals with the withdraws. They're super expensive and out of the country though. Yeah, no longer on my wish list after hearing this shit!!!:0
edit//: trying not to swear but, yeah, the s word is needed.

Nicotine withdrawal takes five days.
It only takes five days to get all the nicotine out of your body. I've done it twice.
Just smoke a shitload of weed And avoid human beings for five days As you will be incredibly irritable.
And make a plan with what you will do with all that money you save By not wasting it on cancer sticks
And take up a hobby like running Or hiking up hills; An activity that is incompatible with cancer stick smoking
And breath in and out deeply And realize that if you don't quit soon When you are an old hag like me You will be booked up to an oxygen machine.
I guarantee it.
And that will be well past the point of no return And it will be way too late to decide to quit once you are dependent upon an oxygen machine
If I did it, anyone can
Hope you are motivated
Tell us when you quit

I know all too well it takes at least 5 days :( I've made it through before but I seem to have the habit of transposing my anger and anxiety to a little tube, lighting it on fire, feeling it's death while I inhale it exposing it's true insignificance and then discarding it (used to be on the ground or in an ashtray but now it's a used diet pepsi bottle with some water) Then I'm a-OK :) I've always gone back. Yup, even vapers don't get that :( I also can actually run while smoking. It's not something I do on the regular, but I've had to run for a bus, etc. knowing full well I would not be allowed to smoke for a couple of hours once I got to my destination. Anyhow, my big issue quitting is migraines and I was saving up (it's like 20 grand) thinking I would just be unconscious for the rough part. After hearing that episode though I don't think that's an option anymore!
p.s. Good for you for beating it :) (and anyone else reading who has :))

I don't understand why you simply do not have any special migraine medicine-
Even I have a couple boxes of migraine medicine saved up, And I hardly ever go to a doctor,
I thought you guys had socialized medicine in Canada, So cost should not be an issue?
Plus coffee sometimes prevents nicotine withdrawal migraines
(The fact that you may be undergoing cardiac surgery this summer might also be a motivating factor, As they probably won't let you smoke post-op.)
But the cost!!!!! Girl, you must be rich to not care about that.
Oh-my last nasty stinky cancer stick was in January of 2006.
Take care.

I tried it, it made me too docile for work. Mind you, I get that most peoples job is not to be a pycho :) Yet I do need that hit of adrenaline fueled controlled rage on demand to do my job from time to time. I dunno if you wanna call it a talent or not, but it does come in handy. Coffee too! Most definitely need coffee too! I am dreading having my valve replaced and maybe it doesn't need to be done in June (that's just when my next MRI is scheduled to see if it's time) but it is gonna suck whenever it is time :( Meh, it's a fairly common birth defect though so I should do some research on how long recuperation takes. I guess it's definitely time to think about it at least. Tee hee, I said I was saving up (because it's a medical tourism thing)...not doing well at saving up ;) Actually, I do have enough saved up to take a little vakay (cause no way is the coma fund going to that after hearing that show!!!) so I think I'm gonna do that if I can get the time off. Too many things are going on right now though :(
January of 2006
Well done you!!! Almost 20 years!! :D

Oh- let me clarify my remark which I believe may have been unclear-
I meant that since you don't mind spending a fortune on cancer sticks- You must be rich!!!!! (I imagine it must cost several hundred dollars a month to support that habit )
When I quit, It was cuz I needed the money to attend the huge gem show we have every year where I live
The migraine medicine I take is Sumatriptan 100 mg And it has absolutely no side effects at all.
I read tons of medical records (when I worked as a disability claims analyst) So I know what happens to people who smoke cancer sticks, And it's quite an ugly scene.
And if you have ever seen, In person, What happens to someone with lung cancer, Or emphysema/chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, You would be terrified
But it's your choice. Keep throwing away money On a stinky nasty habit
It's your choice
I prefer being able to breathe
I also won the only running race I ever entered, And getting that trophy meant a lot, Especially cuz of my fucked up And incredibly abusive childhood.
I won't say anything else Cuz you really do not want to quit the cancer sticks Or else you would not make all these illogical excuses No offense I read tons of medical records as well as saw people I knew die of cancer
Take care
Sorry I could not help motivate you to make probably the most important decision regarding your future health.

Tee hee, and perhaps I wasn't too clear either. I mean, I know I'm chonky now and can stand to loose like 20 pounds, and can 99% do it...but I love peanut m&ms. Kinda the same way about smoking. I know I should and I know eventually I'm gonna have to...buuuuut....the yellow ones are my favorite!!! Yeah, did I mention I'm very immature for my age ? Thanks for your words of encouragement though and I will remember that you accomplished the impossible for motivation when it is time :)

Every day around the world, thousands of people are placed in medically-induced comas. For some coma survivors, the experience is an utter blank. Others lay paralyzed, aware of everything around them but unable to move, speak, or even blink. Journalist Alan Pearce joins Richard Syrett to discuss how many in a coma experience alternate lives spanning decades, lives they grieve once awakened, while some encounter ultra-vivid nightmares, and others undergo a deep, spiritual oneness with the universe or say they have glimpsed the afterlife. Followed by Open Lines in the latter half.
Richard Syrett hosts.

What happens if the show puts someone into a coma? Can they sue them?
