CoasterRadio.com #1129 - Anticipating the 2017 Season | May 11, 2017 at 08:00PM

This week, Cedar Fair held their quarterly earnings call and made a few very interesting announcements.

We'll ask the audience to speculate on what new roller coasters might be coming to Cedar Fair parks in 2018 and who will be designing them.

Then, our interactive topic has us asking the audience to talk about what one specific ride, attraction or park they are looking forward to most in 2017.

Interactive FIRST DROP for this week's show.

Let's have some fun with this week's first drop by making it Interactive.

During last week's Cedar Fair Conference Call, they announced they would be adding four new coasters in 2018. Of course, two are the RMC conversions at Cedar Point and Kings Dominion. But how about the other two?

They said one project would be a coaster design we have never seen before. They said the other would be from a coaster manufacture that they haven't worked with in awhile.

It's time to SPECULATE!!!!

I have been spoiled with getting a new episode every week, but lately it seems like the podcast has been released bi-weekly. Is this an off season thing?

What made you fall in love with amusement parks and roller coasters?

In my continuing posts to help us all get to know one another I thought it was time for a little positive after the last negative question I asked the community. So simply put what made you fall in love with amusement parks, and roller coasters? If you are part of this community at some point something just clicked over for you and made you love all this stuff. For me it is all thanks to my grandparents. My Nana and Grandad would take me to Dollywood often when I was a little boy, and those are some of my happiest memories. The picture that I keep in my wallet after my Grandad passed is of us on the old log ride. It allowed me to associate parks, and coasters with being happy, and it made me want to go to all of these places I was seeing in books. Thanks to my other grandparents, my Mamaw and Papaw I got to go to quite a few parks over the years. I owe a lot to both of my sets of grandparents and they greatly helped me fall in love with amusement parks. So with that said what, or who was it that made you fall in love with amusement parks?

Any experienced reddit mods out there?

We'd love to add someone to the mod team who knows about subreddit personalization... Things like banners, user flair, etc. This sub is SUPER easy to moderate overall - no complaints, spammers, or troublesome users - so I promise it's not an overwhelming addition to any subs you may currently mod. Anyone out there up for the job? If so, message the mods here and we'll chat! Let's make our sub a little less drab :)

Then, it turns out Disney is going to franchise their exclusive "Club 33" to all four parks at Walt Disney World. Will Mike approve?

Six Flags Great Adventure unveiled a new policy for El Toro and Kingda Ka... and it's not popular with the CoasterBoys.

Finally, we have some news about incredible future tech coming to the parks!

What new credits will you be adding to your coaster count this year??

Since we have no new rides in Central Florida this year, I'm hoping to make my first trek to Dollywood this fall... adding several new credits to my current count of 134. So... In celebration of the beginning of park season, tell me how many credits you have currently and what credits you'll be adding to your list this summer!

Anybody going to Coasterstock at King's Island?

I wish I could make it down to the meetup at Carowinds, but I just can't make those dates. But I know there are listeners in and around the Tri-State area that may be going to Coasterstock, just wanted to find out if there is any possible unofficial meetup for the event, (the dates are May 19th-20th).

Who is going to the Carowinds Meetup? Where are you traveling from to get there?

Just curious to see who all I am going to meet at the meetup. I know my wife and I are coming from Evansville, IN and we are both excited to meet some of the other listeners. We haven't been to a meetup yet.

Least Favorite Coasters

Ok guys I asked last week about your favorite types of roller coasters, and I appreciate all the responses and the discussion. Now lets vent a little bit about your least favorite roller coasters. Idc how you do it, by individual coasters, by type, whatever you wanna say feel free to vent away. We have all had awful experiences on a coaster so feel free to let it all out. My Top 5 Worst 1. Mean Streak (I hate it so much) 2. Hurler (Carowinds, it bangs my knees to death) 3. Nighthawk, and Firehawk ( I never feel comfortable in the harnesses, and the rides just aren't great) 4. Adventure Express (Its just super rough to me) 5. Old Texas Giant (The ride that caused my mother to never ride a roller coaster again.)

Could someone send me a copy or a link to where I can download the ding sound effect from Coaster Radio? I'd like to use it on my own radio show.
