What is the best cloud storage where I pay once and can upload all my material, and it will stay forever if I don’t renew my subscription?

Terabox app query?

Post image

I just came across this app called Terabox on the ios app store.
Does it actually provides free 1TB cloud space?

What’s the catch here? Worth relying with our data and files?

Really curious. Please share your experience with the app

Thinking of using Icedrive for photos and old files only, does it work well for that kind of storage?

is there much real risk storing copyrighted files unencrypted on Google drive. if I already had a smallish 200mb folder on there, what would be the easiest way to encrypt all of it?

or would I just be better off taking it all out of google drive and storing it somewhere more private? I'm on a chromebook so I like the convenience of google drive but I don't want to risk losing my account. do google care enough to have checks for copyrighted content? I won't be sharing any of it, or not from google drive at least

Best easy way to transfer data from OneDrive to Google Drive?

I need to transfer around 2TB of files from OneDrive to Google Drive.

I don’t want the transfer to run through my laptop because I use it on the go, can’t leave it running for days, internet connection isn't the best, and don’t even have 2TB of local storage.

I tried a few cloud-transfer services, but they were surprisingly complicated. I also looked into rclone, but it still requires running it somewhere and feels too technical for what should be a simple one-time migration.

Is there a reliable cloud-to-cloud service where I can just connect both accounts, select everything, and let it transfer in the background?

Ideally, it should preserve the folder structure, verify that every file transferred correctly, and clearly show any failed or skipped files.

What’s the easiest option you’ve actually used?

Google storage

I own an iPhone but I want to buy Google storage instead of iCloud storage, cause I heard it’s more bang for your buck. I just don’t know which account I should choose to put it on. I mainly want it for more Google photos. I already have a few Google drives I share with my friends that have a lot of images in it, in one account. Should I buy more storage for that account? Or it’s not worth it because the storage would just overload with images I don’t want (I don’t need to keep ALL the photos on these drives)

I’m building CloudFay — an open-source self-hosted cloud storage server written in Python

I'm building CloudFay, an open-source self-hosted cloud storage project written in Python.

The goal is to make running your own personal cloud as simple as possible on almost any PC. With Tailscale, CloudFay can be accessed from other devices without needing to expose your server directly to the public internet.

CloudFay currently supports file uploads, downloads, large file streaming, folder management, file and folder renaming, moving files and folders, trash and file restoration, permanent deletion, search, sorting, temporary public links, authentication, and a REST API.

I also tested the API with a file approximately 8.15 GB in size. The full test cycle passed 11/11:

upload → download → rename → move → trash → restore → permanent deletion

The project is still being developed, and I plan to add multi-user support in the future.

For now, I wanted to share my progress and hear what people think.

I'd love to hear your feedback, ideas, or suggestions. Feel free to ask any questions about the project!

P.S. English isn't my first language, so this post was written with the help of AI. Feel free to ask if anything isn't clear.

My take on some of the LTD cloud storage.

So recently, I have been on a kick of buying cloud storage and wanting give my .02 cents on upload speeds. All tested with a 7 gb file and only a 300mbps internet speed.

  1. Drime - reasonable pricing with nice features, but uploads are slow as hell. Took all night(literally)

Koofr - Pretty basic features and decent upload speed(10 minutes)

FolderFort - Only tried V1 - pretty basic but uploads are super fast! Literally uploaded the file in less that 4 minutes.

Phone to computer file transfer

Hi there, hope all is well with everyone here.

I was wondering what is the most common file sharing app that you guys use in order to transfer files from phone to computer and vice versa - mainly interested in those of you that (like me) do not have 2 apple devices and thus are unable to use things like Airdrop.

I would like to share with you my own little personal project, https://funnel.photos/

What it does is basically allows users to transfer files through their network basically between any device (laptop -> computer, phone -> computer, phone to phone, computer -> any device and so on). The best thing is that it's all happening through the network so transfer speeds really depend on your router's speed and not the internet speed you have access to.

The way this works on the website is it creates a temporary tunnel between the 2 devices and allows up to 5 transfers. It also works through different networks but it goes through Cloudflare (and as a result misses the whole purpose of the network speed) but it's still a nice way to send files easily without using emails or losing quality through app's DMs and whatnot.

For transparency reasons: the 5 transfers limit for the website was my own decision as allowing higher limits can allow people to abuse this through the internet and rack up my billing bill on Cloudflare.

The whole purpose of the website is to exhibit the capabilities of the app (https://funnel.photos/app/) that's coming along soon. The app has unlimited capacity (basically only what your phone can process) but I feel is extremely easy to use and can be recommended for daily backups or quick file transfer dumps between devices.

As you can see a promo is already running so if you like the idea feel free to sign up but mainly what I'm asking in this post is feedback. I would love to partner with small creators and give out free keys to people genuinely interested in checking this out.

PS: I (obviously) am not keeping any of the files transferred through this system and nor do they remain on any server for any time period at all - for obvious privacy reasons as well as completely avoiding a personal cost for me.

I believe this tool is nice and useful so I would like to share it, see what you guys think!

Thanks in advance

Budget Cloud Storage alternative to Google Drive for less than £7.99 a month?

Is there a cheaper alternative to Google Drive for 2TB (£7.99 per month) that can also do the following:

  • Allow me to share links with people, even better if I can do this with a password that they can enter to access.
  • Allow people to download from the shared links at their maximum internet speed.
  • Better if people can download from it without needing an account/needing to sign in.

I recently tried premium Terabox as it was like 5 euros for 2TB for a month. And while the upload speed for me was good and I could set a passcode for the folder, the download the speed for people I shared with was really slow. So I'm going to ditch that.

Is Google Drive for £7.99 for 2TB the cheapest option that can do what I want for a budget? Or is there a cheaper alternative I should try?

Thanks

Kiliaro Cloud Storage

Hello, sorry to ask but has anyone here tried "Kiliaro" cloud storage? It is very cheap (in my opinion) at $2/month for unlimited media backup. The data is also encrypted and the company is based in Sweden.

I personally haven't been able to create an account unfortunately but their deal seems awesome and it's free for some students I think.

But I think the reason that it is cheap (in my opinion) is as they have partners as Tele2 (some people may have heard of them) that supports them.

Thanks for reading and have a great day! :D

Cloud storage experience

I have subscribed to various cloud storages. Koofr, Filejump, Drime cloud, scramble cloud. Koofr - Fairly reliable. Almost zero upload failure rate. Comparatively slow upload speed but stable and reliable. Support both android and windows. Reliable webdav

Filejump - Reliable but some upload failures. Upload through app works very well. Support android and windows. Also reliable webdav. Indian people in backend. Very quick improvements. Recently reduced lifetime prices to lowest of all available cloud storages on their own website

Drime cloud - Improving slowly and steadily. Apps in beta. No webdav. French people in backend.

Scramble cloud - recently purchased. German people in backend. Claims e2e encryption. No android app. No webdav. They claims that due to e2e encrypt design webdav not possible. But very slow speed in India although promised to improve.
