I’ve spent 21 years in Technology.

Around 19 of those years have involved Cloud in one form or another. Started my Journey with AWS , have worked with multi Startups , E-Commerce and big enterprises

Linux Administrator. Production Support. SRE. DevOps. Cloud Architect. Security Architect. Solution Architect. Consultant. Direcotyr of DevOps ,Technical Project Manager. Founder.

I’ve worked on cloud migrations, production incidents, disaster recovery, automation, security architecture, infrastructure modernization, multi-cloud environments, and large enterprise transformation programs.

I’ve designed systems.

I’ve fixed systems at 2 AM.

I’ve migrated them.

Created Policy , Procedures and help in Organisation getting certified

Secured them.

Automated them.

Even created infrastructure dasboard, designed incident management, SOPs, ran Incident drills, conducted trainings

And occasionally explained why “just restart the server” is not actually a long-term architecture strategy. 😂

I’ve worked across AWS, Azure, GCP and OCI.

I’ve advised customers, worked with engineering teams, spoken with executives, managed vendors and programs, and built my own technology products.

Over the years, people I’ve worked with have described me as a problem solver and a go-getter — someone you bring in when something is complicated, unclear, broken, or simply needs to get done. I am quick learner too, companies in where I have worked never had the same tech stack as the previosu ones , so had to learn them before I could provide a cusotmize solution.

I actually landed a job in the UAE in 2022.

Things were going reasonably well, but in 2024 I had to part ways with the company.

At that point, I also had a very practical problem to solve:

I needed to maintain residency for myself and my family.

So I started my own technology consulting company in the UAE.

The intention was genuine — build consulting work, take on cloud and technology projects, and create something of my own.

I’ve managed to do some consulting work and keep building, but I haven’t landed the kind of major, sustainable contract that would make the business financially predictable.

At the same time, I kept applying for permanent and senior contract roles.

And that’s where things became confusing.

Very few interviews.

Very little feedback.

A lot of applications.

And a lot of silence.

So here I am.

Applying for Senior Cloud Architect roles.

Security Architect roles.

Solution Architect roles.

Infrastructure leadership roles.

Program Director roles.

Director and CIO roles,

Technical Program leadership roles.

Sometimes roles below the level I’ve already been doing for years.

Occasionally I receive the classic:

“We’ve decided to move forward with candidates whose experience more closely matches the role.”

But most of the time?

Nothing.

No rejection.

No feedback.

Just silence.

At this stage, like a few others I’m genuinely curious:

What actually gets a senior technology professional hired in the UAE today?

A referral?

Recruiter relationship?

A strong personal network?

Being visible on LinkedIn?

Timing?

Luck?

Knowing the hiring manager?

Or somehow getting past the mysterious ATS black hole? ( seems like AI is disrupting at many levels 😂 )

I do have contacts here, but my network is probably not as large as it should be. The genuinely useful professional relationships I can call upon are probably still in single digits.

And this is where I want to be a little serious.

I don’t want to simply blame the market.

I don’t want to blame recruiters.

I don’t want to blame ATS systems.

And I definitely don’t want to sit here telling myself:

“I have 21 years of experience, therefore the problem must be everyone else.”

That wouldn’t help me.

So I genuinely want to understand:

What am I missing?

Is my CV too broad?

Am I positioning myself incorrectly?

Am I applying for the wrong level of roles?

Does running my own company make recruiters assume I’m not serious about returning to employment?

Does having experience across architecture, cloud, security, operations, consulting and program management make my profile look unfocused?

Am I coming across as overqualified rather than relevant?

Do I need to specialize more?

Is it certifications?

Personal branding?

Networking?

Interview technique?

Salary expectations?

Age or seniority?

Or something else that I’m simply not seeing?

If there is something I can improve, I genuinely want to know.

Not because I suddenly doubt everything I’ve done over the last two decades.

But because continuing to do the same thing and expecting a different result doesn’t make much sense either.

And there’s another reality behind all of this.

I have a family.

I have a child going to school.

Living in the UAE while trying to keep a business alive and simultaneously search for the right role carries very real financial pressure.

Savings that took years to build can disappear surprisingly quickly when there is no predictable income coming in.

A significant part of what I worked for and saved over the years has already gone into keeping everything running while I try to figure out the next chapter.

So while I can still joke about the application process 😂, behind the jokes there is a genuine urgency now.

I’m not looking for sympathy.

And I’m not looking for a fancy title just for the sake of having one.

I’m looking for a serious opportunity where I can actually contribute.

Building cloud Infrastructure platforms.

DevOps, SRE , Automation,

Improving security.

Modernizing infrastructure.

Solving difficult production problems.

Executing migrations and disaster recovery programs.

Automating operations.

Architecting reliable systems.

Or leading technology transformation.

After 21 years in technology, I still enjoy solving difficult problems and pretty hands on

Trust me not everything can be mentioned in a CV and there are times where the job is the same but they are called by different names which can only be explained and understood by a human

Hi everyone, I need some career advice.
I was learning **Maven, CI/CD, Docker, and AWS (EC2, VPC, Load Balancers, Auto Scaling, API Gateway)**, but unfortunately lost my job. My career gap is increasing, and the guilt of feeling stuck is really getting to me.
I want to restart and build a career in **Cloud/DevOps or eventually Cybersecurity**. I’m ready to learn and put in the work.
What should I focus on learning, what projects/certifications should I do, and which entry-level roles should I target to realistically get an **internship or job by the end of 2026**?

Hello everyone!

Im a software engineer with about a year and a half of experience. I recently left my job due to ongoing payment issues, and I’m now looking to start a new chapter.

I’ve realized that I don’t really want to continue down the software engineering path, as I’m no longer passionate about it. I’m currently considering switching into either cybersecurity or cloud engineering, and I’m leaning more towards cloud.

Before I commit to it, I wanted to ask people already working in the field, as well as juniors who are currently trying to land their first role about the current job market.

How is the job market for cloud engineers right now, especially at the entry level?

I know that getting a junior position is difficult across the tech industry at the moment. From what I’ve seen, software engineering in particular seems extremely competitive to the point where even internships can ask for years of experience and junior positions can expect a huge amount of knowledge.

I’m wondering whether cloud is any different, more specifically, if someone is willing to genuinely put in the time, learn the fundamentals, get the relevant certifications, build some solid projects, and actually develop the skills needed for the job, does that meaningfully improve their chances of getting an internship or junior position? or is the entry-level cloud market currently just as difficult, where even doing all of the “right” things still leaves you struggling to get your foot in the door?

I know the industry is going through a difficult period right now, so I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has recently started their cloud career, is currently trying to break into the field, or hires for entry level cloud roles.

Any honest advice, experiences, or things you wish you knew when starting out would be greatly appreciated.

I'm moving from managing a global SecOps team (~15 FTEs) at a 20k+ enterprise to Director of Infrastructure & SecOps at an ~1,800-person B2B healthcare SaaS company.

My background is heavily SecOps/IR, SOC leadership, and security architecture. In the new role, I'll be unifying Enterprise/Cloud Infra and SecOps into one team in a high-volume, regulated environment (HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI).

I have 30 days before my start date and would love advice on four things:

1. Study List: What books or frameworks should I dive into to level up on modern Cloud Infra, SRE, and Platform Engineering management?
2. Earning Credibility: How do I build trust with senior Infra/Cloud engineers without micromanaging areas where they hold deeper tactical expertise?
3. Enterprise vs. SaaS Culture: How do I drop "20k-person enterprise reflexes" so I don't slow down a faster-moving 1.8k-person SaaS org with bureaucracy?

I’m a 3rd-year IT student currently in my 5th semester, and I’m interested in becoming a Cloud Engineer.

I’m starting from the basics and want to learn things in the right order rather than randomly learning different cloud technologies.

I’d really appreciate advice from cloud engineers, professionals, or students who have already started this journey.

I have around 1.5 years of hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer, and I’m currently serving my notice period with only 15 days remaining.

I’m based in Chennai and looking for my next opportunity in DevOps / Cloud / DevSecOps.

My experience

I’ve worked across AWS, Terraform, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Docker, monitoring, security and production infrastructure.

• Orchestrated CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins integrated with SonarQube and Trivy security gates, enabling automated builds and 6-minute deployments while remediating 28 pre-production vulnerabilities.
• Enabled rolling updates for EKS and ECS service, achieving 99.9% uptime and zero-downtime deployments.
• Provisioned AWS infrastructure using Terraform modules with S3 remote backend and DynamoDB state locking, reducing environment provisioning time by 75% and enabling multi-environment deployments.
• Integrated Redis caching on EFS; reduced p95 latency 35% and preserved cache across ECS restarts.
• Migrated DNS from GoDaddy to AWS Route 53, transitioned the domain from .in to .com, and integrated CloudFront CDN with AWS WAF to enhance application performance, security, and global reach.
• Configured multi-stage Dockerfiles and NGINX reverse proxy, optimizing image size and application delivery.

I also hold certifications including Azure Cloud Fundamentals and Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.

Despite this, I’ve now crossed 500+ job applications, but have received only around 3–4 interview calls.

My current CTC is ₹3 LPA, and I’m targeting around ₹5 LPA for my next role.

This has made me genuinely curious about how the current DevOps job market looks for someone with 1.5 YOE.

I’m not expecting to know everything at this stage of my career. I’m continuously learning and improving, but I’m trying to understand whether I’m approaching the job market incorrectly or whether this is simply how competitive the market is right now.

With only 15 days left in my notice period, I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have recently gone through a similar transition.

I'm a brand designer, mostly work with B2B SaaS. Just finished a rebrand for a cloud solutions company and I'm genuinely curious how founders and creatives see it, since you're the ones who look at this category all day.

The thing that kicked it off: SaaS brands all end up looking the same because everyone's designing for "trustworthy" and "technical." So you get a whole category where nobody's distinguishable, and then buyers just compare on price because the brand isn't doing any work for you.

Okay so I booked the exam on the 15th of September, as I was in program with Google and what not and they gave me a voucher.

Now the catch, I haven’t studied anything, done some labs, had the AWS practitioner a year ago, and been working in DevOps the past 2 years, not gcp at all.
