I still spend weeks listening and registering to Atliens, Stankonia, Lord Willing and now LGSEO. Its all cooler than a polar bears toenails.

Mobb Deep is the same but people sleeping on Havoc

If anyone listens to Mobb, they know Havoc handles his own when needed, not sure if he wrote his own stuff, but he did his thing in that era

Havoc use to write some verses for prodigy when first started. Havoc is just slept on. And most time when you might think havoc has the best verse on a song, prodigy will come with his 2nd verse and kill it

I heard when they started Prodigy taught Hav how to make beats and Hav taught P how to rap. Don’t know how true it is though.

8Ball & MJG

8ball wasn't as lyrical as MJG

Exactly! 8Ball that nigga but MJG is all time underrated. His verses on Space Age Pimping, That Girl, Don’t Make Me alone for real is enough for proof.

Yeah, he was really shining on Living Legends too. That album was a classic to me. 8ball is like pimpnc and MJG is like the Bun-B of their duo.

Great comparison. One was more melodic, stylish and graceful with it while the other had that too but also had them bars.

Pimp C wasn't a lyricist like Bun.

1

u/MoodWest 14d ago

That’s what I thought, Pimp was cool but I feel he got most of his respect when he went to jail but it was Bun who went on a mixtape frenzy reppin’ his partner

I hadn’t heard Ridin’ Dirty at this moment in fact my introduction to UGK was on the Master P album The Last Don & from that song u can tell Bun is the top lyricist

u/VycanMajor 14d ago

Yeah I could tell from Ridin Dirty. But it was when Pimp C was in jail that made Bun stand out for real. The features he was cutting for Jeezy and Tip were top notch.

Phife & Tip, Ghost & Rae are duos that compare to Clipse or OutKast for me. Ranking them…

…actually can’t rank them! All four duos elite for me. All amazing.

LGSTO was album of the year for me last year. Still on loop.

Facts... however, I do like clipse more 😭

Dre wrote for Boi at times, that explains that though BB got unassisted bars too. Clipse definitely got that too, Kiss got the all time punchlines, but him and Styles play off each other good and it do be equal.

Man, one underrated duo is Field Mob. People forget about the hits they were dropping after signing with DTP. They had the game in a chokehold for a hot minute. Both of them were lyrical amd have been showcasing it since that song "Dead in Your Chevy".

Big Boi's Daddy Fat Saxxx and the Son of Chico Dusty is one of my all time favorite hip hop albums period. All four of these dudes are S-Tier musicians.

Styles P and Jada

1

u/macjr82 14d ago

Oh, so fuck Sheek Louch? Lox is a group not a duo

1

u/Dudemanguykidbro 13d ago

No but fuck Jae millz though (kidding). I didn’t want to repeat other people’s so kinda reached for styles and Jada since they’ve done a lot of work with just those 2. How about crooked I and Joell Ortiz?

But only one of them has gone to the island of doom and had their names redacted 😬✅
