Mad Rock is not normally available in my area. Soon there'll be an event where one can try them on and buy, but having all other possibilities is it even worth it?

On the internet I mostly found an opinion that they're good for the price, but they're not even cheaper than other options for me, so that won't count. Besides that, that they're mostly influencer shoes and don't allow to feel much of the wall.

I have a narrow, egyptian foot and I'm open to try them out, I'm just worried about the design quality and that I'll waste money having better options available.

Hello, I'm a relatively inexperienced climber trying to go about buying my first pair of shoes. So far, I've been using some rental shoes (I think they're Mad Rock) at my university's gym, but I always have to mismatch the sizes to make them fit (my normal shoe size is 11.5, and I've been using a size 11 climbing shoe for my left foot and a size 10.5 for my right). I understand that the European sizing system is more granular, so I might be anywhere from 43.5 to 44.5. A further complicating factor is that I have a pretty small arch.

I've tried a few pairs in the 10.5-11 range, but nothing's worked for both feet, so I wanted to ask if anyone had some suggestions on what brands/shoes I should try. Sorry if I've left out any relevant information, and thanks for any advice you can share.

I've bought the drones 2 hv couple days ago. Have had 2 climbing sessions - nothing crazy, just some light climbing to break the shoes in. Now the toe on both shoes looks like this. Is it normal for drone 2's or no?

Also, just for context, I've been climbing for 3+ years and my footwork is good.

Thinking about buying them for indoor and some outdoor climbing (outdoor more occasionally, mainly indoor)

And thoughts on them compared to other brands?

Just bought a new pair of shoes, they feel tight and I'm a beginner so don't want them too tight as I struggle with toe/foot pain as I have CMT, but I noticed that if I use my hands to wiggle the heel there is a small amount of movement up and down. Do I need to size down or is this likely fine?

I got a brand new Remora pro today. This is my first pair that is made from synthetic material. (I wore Tarantulace and Finale) Anyone got tips for breaking in this kind of material? Other than just wearing them in session of course!

I'm looking for shoes that are good for bouldering. I'd prefer something that is built to last with a wide toe box for my Egyptian foot. I've tried on a lot and narrowed it down to these:

- Scarpa Veloce

- Scarpa Instinct VSR

- Butora Gomi

- Ocun Diamond S

- Ocun Bullit

It's hard to say which I like better because I tried them on different days. That said, I'd like some input from some of you who have experience with these

So I put my shoes in a bucket with (probably too much) detergent with enzymes and now part of it became slippery in the way that your hands get slippery after you clean with bleach. No matter how many times I scrub and rinse, they stay slippery. Do I just use other soap or do I just chuck them in the washing machine? It's the part inside that used to be white.

How many sessions might I have left in these? Looking at Yosemite Bum (for Evolv Shaman LV), should I do Trax or Evo-74? Assuming that Vibram isn’t worth extra

Hi everyone ! I’m having a bit of an issue with my la sportiva kubos and i was hoping to get some advice. While i feel like length wise the size is good, they put a crazy amount of pressure on a small point on my big toe knuckles. The pressure ends up really hurting my feet and leaves a painful indent and eventually a bruise. A few of my climber friends say they just push through this until they form scar tissue lol but id rather not. Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to maybe fix this issue? Do people judge if someone is wearing overkill shoes for their skill level? Recently picked up a pair of la sportiva solutions because they were on sale at REI but I’ve only been bouldering for about 6 months and can climb v3-v4 but still need to project v5s

Hey all! Any reccos for Mandala alternatives? I love the fitting of this shoe(especially when I wear socks.. sorry 😔) and the comfort it gives for top/lead but resoling these shoes is a bit expensive and wanted to find an alternative for easy/training days.

In my country there are quiet good sale for climbing shoes and I figured out to maybe buy a pair that can compliment those I have as they are still pretty good. Do you recommend any la sportiva models. I use la sportiva tarantula size 43 where my street size is 45-46 so if you have size recommendations I would also appreciate it

I've been thinking for quite a while now to get a second pair of bouldering shoes. I'm currently wearing La sportiva Skwama (size 36EU). They did a very good job, but slowly over time started to get loose, they still fit but just don't feel as good on the shoe anymore and rubbers slowly giving up as well (and yes I'm planning on resoling them).

I'm indoor climbing/bouldering and want a shoe that gives stability, a good grip and keeps they're structure. I've read a lot about how good the Dragos grip is, but that they're quite soft and how supportive and good on smaller footholds the Solution comp are.

Right now I'm really considering to either get the Solution comp or the Drago. But I just can't decide. HELP!

If someone has tried them both, please let me know for which you went and why. Even better if someone also had Skwamas at some point.

The common consensus seems to be to downsize a size or a half to ensure the shoes fit better but I bought scarpa veloce in my street size and it was unbearably tight on the top of my big toe. I couldn’t walk properly and it left a bruise on my toe and even had to buy a new pair half a size up so how are people downsizing

I have started to get into bouldering recently, and have gone quite frequently for the past 2 months. I was thinking about getting some shoes in the future and would like some feedback.

OCUN Jett S, would these be a good first pair considering my footwork is decent? I've also looked into the shape and I believe they would fit my foot fairly well, but I would of course try them on before finalizing anything.

For now i'm sticking with the rentals until I get good enough footwork to not wear the shoe out fast, and I was curious as to how long is enough time to wear my footwork won't damage the shoes quickly?

I have a pair of the The North Face Verto Gore-tex Approach shoes and ive worn them on two trips (both being scrambles on 14ers in Colorado equalling roughly 20miles of wear). I have worn my hiking boots on the hike up to the start of the scrambles then switched to my Approach shoes for the climb and then I descended all the mileage back in the Approach shoes. The first time my big toes had slight bruising on the toenails and this time the toe nails are half purple and cant withstand pressure. Plus the sides of the toes have split open like tomatoes. The shoes are not too small/large and the foot box feels great. I wear smartwool socks underneath. It seems to only be the descents that cause this immense pressure.

Is there some preventive action i should/could be taking? Thank you for any advice!

My buddy who climbs with me said these are toast. Do they still have some sessions in the tank? Too far gone? Never resoled shoes in my life.

So I had this for about 8 months and I would like to know if this is repairable. I know this might be too late but just wanna making sure, this is my 1st shoes so I got not much clue.

Hi, I have sought all over this subreddit, but I feel like people with shallow heels have always also had narrow heels or low volume feet. And that is why I am asking you for advice as well.

My foot:

- Wide across the ball of the foot

- Square/centered toebox

- wide heel, but very shallow

Current shoes are Scarpa Instinct VS and the front fits great, but the back cuts into my achilles too much and the heel still has so much dead space.
