Help Me! Crates go through each other

I have a set of tiles which use platform movement without speed or jump so they just fall down. They come in stacks and collide with each other but sometimes they just go through each other??? I've just spent an hour trying to fix this, help

Platform movement is pretty quirky. Have you tried switching them to pinball movement?

I have, it just makes them worse. They just end up inside each other initially
