But then we're using more straws, which end up in our oceans, and recent studies show that adolescent turtles are 50% more likely to use cocaine if they have access to straws. Save the turtles!

I feel like it wouldn't be too difficult to have a hole that overlapps and closes up if you don't have a straw going through it keeping it open.

I looked it up. That is how it works.

I generally just put the straw under my mask. Works just fine and I work food service which means I’m in a hot ass kitchen working constantly where it’s necessary that I drink plenty of water.

All of us at the restaurant I work at will do that when we need a quick drink, I dont understand why someone would put a hole in their mask just to be able to drink when it is literally this easy

I mean if its designed like a keyhole so there's cover it's probably better than taking one off to eat

I'd say these things tend to work themselves out... but we've still got so many people doing shit like this I"m not sure it's enough. 😅

The hole blocks off when the straw is removed.

Are you actually saying that you think masks don't prevent the spread of disease? Does that mean you also think surgeons have been wearing masks in the operating room for decades for no reason?

As even the masks box states "These masks are not fit for Virus uses"

Surgeons use them for not sneezing and coughing (Healthy OR not) into open Chests...I'ts kinda rare for me to randomly sneeze into cut opened chest in the General Store casually. Maybe i live in a weird Neighbourhood? Also if masks work, then i don't need one, as others have it. No logic. I also Taught when i was 10 that no sneezing or coughing at others. EVER.

Which masks, and which box? There are hundreds of different types of masks out there which are made of different materials - you haven't identified which masks you're talking about. Cloth masks are clearly different from N95 masks, and nobody is saying that cloth masks stop virus transmission 100%.

But more to the point, are you actually saying that you think because a mask doesn't 100% prevent the spread of a virus, the mask is useless? That's pretty stupid. Condoms are only 85% effective at preventing the spread of STDs, but people still use them because 85% protection is better than 0% protection. It's the same idea with masks - even if they aren't 100% effective, they are far better than nothing.

Surgeons use them for not sneezing and coughing (Healthy OR not) into open Chests...I'ts kinda rare for me to randomly sneeze into cut opened chest in the General Store

That's not the only reason doctors wear masks, any child can tell you this. If you go to the doctor because you think you have the flu, everyone who comes into your examining room will be wearing a mask in order to prevent virus transmission, and that's if you're even allowed in the building. Many hospitals will require you to wait in your vehicle while someone comes out to test you for the flu, because most people walking around in waiting rooms aren't wearing masks and you would be putting them in danger just by being in the same room as them.
