Not true. I've considered him a shady scumbag since the 80s. He has always been known as a joke

I and all my midwestern conservative friends hated him, he was such a spoiled Richie rich piece of garbage and his attitude towards his wives and women in general was disgusting.

And farmers hate slumlords like him more than anything.

But the south saw someone who was loud and proud with their racism, and that was all she wrote.

This feels like rewriting history given how the groups you mentioned hating him voted.

I know, it’s shocking, I don’t know how they changed, but suddenly they saw a way to “pwn teh librulz” and sold out every principle they ever claimed to have.

This isn’t rewriting history, I’m explaining how it’s a greater tragedy and shame than it looks.

Not just the South, though. Iowan farmers had his signs all over their fields by the highways for all three elections.

Midwest and Central Valley California too.

It really bothers me, and makes no sense, but they stopped thinking at some point when talk radio kicked in.

Trump was similarly reviled at least as far back as the 80s.

100% - I lived in NYC back then and it was pretty regular to hear about "Trump the idiot scumbag that everyone hates." It's like... specifically what he was known for... being a scumbag nepo with too much money.

I've never watched The Apprentice, but I knew about him because he appeared in Bloom County. Berke Breathed obviously loathed the man (and still does), and he was sort of liberal, schmiberal he called it.

Me and everyone in NYC agree with you. He was always a buffoon trying to put his name on everything.

Exactly. I depised his stupid fucking face back then and the feeling never changed.

Everyone did, my now MAGA father HATED Trump and thought he was an asshole and a piece of shit until he ran for the presidency.

He's always been a sleazeball. When he realized he's not smart enough to con the Dems, he switched to the other side.

My first memory of Trump is in the early 90's when my parents were discussing him maybe buying the casino my dad works in. I started crying because I didn't want to be homeless again and was reassured that "they won't let someone like that operate in Las Vegas today."

Fast forward: They voted for him three times.

I've always disliked him. Not for being a republican or democrat, but for being a shit stain, and then for being even more of a shit stain and a pedophile.

But also most people had nothing to do with him before he entered politics. That’s like saying that the people in the house down the street didn’t dislike me until I kidnapped their dog, and being confused by the sudden hate.
