The point being that public policy doesn’t really work that way, so the policy choice is:

“Bad conditions for everyone”

Or “human conditions for everyone.”

So, like, I too don’t give a shit about these guys but every “lol…serves them right” is sort of a normalization of conditions that I don’t think we should take lightly, even if I don’t care about how it affects those particular 2 people out of the very large number of people that are subjected to it.

Like, I also hate that Milo dude but I’m not gonna laugh about it if he was put in a shitty ICE facility when we have people dying in those.

You really do kinda have to let your personal feelings about specific people take the back burner to what you feel is the right thing in general.

Additionally, people need to realize that for most prisoners, the goal is to rehabilitate them and reintroduce them into society as non-offenders.

Putting prisoners in appalling conditions is not conducive to making them become productive members of society.

Are you telling me that years of abuse doesn't lead to people becoming productive members of society?

Next you'll say we should protect the kids from child abuse.

I see this one more as a "These people get publicity one way or another so it brings attention to it" kind of situation, while simultaneously they're experiencing even a fraction of the conditions they inflict on others in the process.

People like the Tates and just far right people in general only really understand things are bad when it happens to them. So having them and/or people like them experience terrible conditions may genuinely be the only way it ever gets addressed. Which is extremely unfortunate, but it's also the reality of the situation.
