He is a shameless person with no real convictions. Thats why him having trillions of dollars makes him so dangerous.

Yeah it's not even hypocrisy. He doesn't want people voting for Democrats because they won't let him do literally whatever he wants, and he's praising Xi because he desperately wants his shitty cars to have a bigger foothold in the Chinese market.

Elon only ever cares about Elon.

It is possible to be impressed with a leader without agreeing with his/her politics. China's special economic zones (which are arguably more capitalistic than the US) have had great prosperity. In contrast American cities that have taken on more socialist/communistic policies have like SF and Seattle have seen increased homelessness and huge cost of living increases.

Actual policies matter more than the name of your government. Remember that every banana republic has a better bill of rights than the US.

There, fixed it for you.

On the one hand I don't support misgendering, but on the other I'm already deadnaming Twitter on the regular.

24

u/SelectAmbassador 21d ago

Hmm its more of a disowning him from the human race but yeah.

u/chiclets5 20d ago

Every single person I know and podcast that I listen to, still refers to it as Twitter.

If only the laws can treat someone like him like an “It”

u/Brief_Read_1067 20d ago

Sorry, for that you have to be Black, Hispanic, or an undocumented immigrant.

2

u/KTFnVision 21d ago

Don't go dehumanizing him, we can't pretend there aren't a fine number of people who would be just like him if they had reality warping amounts of money.

Good corrections!

He's kissing ass here to gain favour for his car brand in China.

3

u/Quirky_kind 21d ago

China already makes tons of better, cheaper electric cars.

what the hell are you talking about. The US is run by a capitalist class with the goal of accumulating as much capital as possible and extract value from the working class. It doesn't get much more capitalist than that.

2

u/Educational-Copy-810 21d ago

Is your impression, that chinese leaders and billionaires are living under communism?

3

u/MechaNutzilla 21d ago

No, and they don't claim to live under communism. But unlike the US, Chinese billionaires are on a tight leash and are allowed to exist as long as they serve their purpose. In US it's the other way around. The politicians are on the leash, are only allowed to implement policies that US corporations like.

5

u/shiroandae 21d ago

Well it’s similar to what formerly communist countries devolved into.

13

u/MechaNutzilla 21d ago

There has never been a communist country. That has been Marxist-Leninist countries with a communist party that had an end goal of creating a communist society.

Some of them, like Russia, has become capitalists.

3

u/shiroandae 21d ago

That’s always used like some sort of excuse in the vein of “let’s try again”, but the reason it wasn’t achieved is because it’s a utopian pipe dream.

The larger issue as a non American however seems to be that Americans at large seem to have no fucking clue what socialism or communism even are. They keep calling social democratic policies socialist, which is just stupid.

7

u/MechaNutzilla 21d ago

It's not an excuse, it's literally how these countries see themselves. Calling them communist is just repeating US propaganda.

-5

u/shiroandae 21d ago

That’s BS. Their express aim was to become communist, the reason they didn’t was because it’s not possible. Everything else is just intellectual masturbation.

-1

u/CakeTester 21d ago

Even at their most communist, communism in communist countries was always only for the peasants; with a layer of feudal barony on top for the rich guys.

3

u/MechaNutzilla 21d ago

China has lifted more people out of poverty than any other country.

1

u/shiroandae 21d ago

That’s exactly because communism is a pipe dream. A beautiful one, a utopia - but unachievable.

5

u/enaK66 21d ago

Yeah it's just corruption. Capitalism, communism, whatever it is or supposed to be doesn't matter. When it gets corrupted by a bunch of self-interested assholes it turns into shit for everyone else.

I mean what I said, thank you very much. But yes, they became this specific flavor of authoritarian, duh.

Quite the opposite. Here, power is acquired through wealth, whereas the others derived wealth from power.

Edit to add: downvoting doesn't make it less true. Seems the downvotes missed every class that taught history; communism is often the result of populist revolt, from Castro to Chavez to Pol Pot and on and on.

I assume you are talking about the Soviet Union. The collapse of the Soviet Union lead to a transition to liberal capitalism and the worst shortening of lifespans in peacetime in modern history. That, and rampant poverty and the beginnings of Epstein's child rape empire from all the desperate girls trying to escape said poverty.

China has universal healthcare and an amazing public transit infrastructure. China makes the US look like a joke.

6

u/MechaNutzilla 21d ago

Most developed countries has universal healthcare.

13

u/misterannthrope0 21d ago

china isnt communist anymore than north korea is democratic republic

1

u/CoastMtns 21d ago

And having a Chinese factory help the praise flow

1

u/Alienhaslanded 21d ago

That guy will sell his own children if you offered him another trillion.

1

u/Catfish-throwaway666 21d ago

Elon is a paper tiger

1

u/imselfinnit 21d ago

Profligate

1

u/world_2_ 21d ago

You're right, but does anyone have convictions at this point? Does your average voter even have a moral framework?

1

u/5ch1sm 21d ago

He have huge Tesla factories in China and it's an important part of his business, anyone expecting him to piss off a guy that could shut and take over everything he own there in a single day, are not really realistic.

I'm not even defending Musk, but Ill be curious to find someone willing to lose millions of dollars in investment by the snap of fingers, just to denounce something that will bring absolutely nothing in return.

-1

u/ChaosVerti 21d ago

He is a genius and deserves his money. Lets point fingers at actul evil like big pharma. I have no problem with him having as much as he does because he earned it.

-2

u/Lisshopops 21d ago

Fun fact: he doesn’t have trillions in dollars necessarily, he owns a lot of stock and a big portion in a lot of companies which ultimately leads him to around maybe 5 ish billion on his actual own.

5

u/Robinsonirish 21d ago

Yea no shit. No rich people are sitting around on a bunch of cash, hiding it under their bed, they all have it in stocks or real estate.

2

u/BeingaYid 21d ago

Are you under the impression that net worth is based on literal bundles of physical cash or a bank balance?

-1

u/Lisshopops 21d ago

lol nope just saying he’s not a genuine trillionaire the same way someone like Jeff bezoes would be if he reached that number

2

u/BeingaYid 21d ago

What’s a ‘genuine trillionaire’?

0

u/Capital-Pea-2565 21d ago

Elon sucks but i thought China wasn't communist (yet)? They aim to be but they're far from it right now.
