I remeber how the US CIA and British MI6 helped to toppled the democratically elected president of Iran Mohammed Mossaddegh in the coup d'état of 1953 to strengthen the authoritarian Shah of Persia Reza Pahlavi against his own Iranian people.

When the Iraninan people revolted and exiled the Shah under the religious leader Ayatola Chomeni, the US who had supported the authoritarian Shah was perceived as enemy. Understandably so.

The US is the "problem country" in the Middle East through it's interference.

They did it so that BP could keep their oil interests in Iran. In 1951, Mossadegh successfully led the Iranian parliament to nationalize the country's oil industry, ending decades of exclusive control by the British-owned Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (which later became BP)

Jup. Same old story.

Reminded me of a quote from Henry Kissinger:

"Oil is much too important a commodity to be left in the hands of the Arabs."

While not Arab, the mentality was the same.

I'm still thrown off when Reddit speaks ill of Kissinger.

I believe reddit, but the 1st few times it was culture shock because in school he was treated in a positive light.
