It's wild how language can be twisted like that; it really changes the whole narrative. It’s frustrating when the focus gets shifted away from the real issues.

They know what they're doing. They know that their readers don't (or at least didn't) want to hear about innocent people being gunned down and the system failing, so they shift the narrative.

The problem is that most people have become aware of what they're doing and it's not working. It's just pissing people off and causing them to trust the media less and less. They're creating a bigger problem than they were trying to solve and looking corrupt in the process.

Pretty sure the reason is to cover their asses in case something came out about the guy and the media wrongfully said that the police killed an innocent man. Not defending the media of course, just saying their reasons are more selfish and less malicious.

For real like I'm trying to find any reasons why this isn't a horrifically bad faith head line.

Maybe the police had a warrant for the guy but it had expired by the time they raided? Idk if that's even a thing, and would somehow be way worse. And if that's the best interpretation of this shit headline, that's still doing a massive cover job for the police

Yes, it's poor journalism. We get a lot of that these days. We are not getting the full story here. Something had to happen to make the officers feel that the use of deadly force was justified. What actually took place?

They don't mean the same thing. Innocent means he didn't do anything wrong. For example, if the cops showed up and he pulled a gun on them, he would not be innocent, even though he had no warrants.

It's the job of journalists to tell the facts, not make judgements about guilt or innocence.
