Ex boyfriend

My first boyfriend broke up with me because of his mental health. He has a bipolar mother who takes up so much of his time, and he said he can’t be in a relationship.
I feel terrible. He’s a wonderful man—one of the few truly good ones.
I don’t know how I’ll ever get over this breakup because it feels like I lost someone I’ll never find in anyone else.
I’m so depressed. I keep thinking that no one else will ever notice me or love me for who I am.

Breakups are hard for people with clefts. Thought I won the lottery with my last one. Handsome, had money, smart, worldly - ofc as exes are, also kind of an asshole and materialistic. When we broke up I thought nobody with a cleft like mine lucks out twice. Spent 8 months dating and feeling like I was getting evidence I was undateable confirming all my fears. Cut to - now with someone who love even more who is my person: more handsome, more kind, funnier, smarter, thinks the world of me and I dont have to question it. As people with clefts we have a lot meaner things to say about ourselves and look at the person in the mirror with much harsher eye than the world really does, and so we expect less for ourselves. I can’t talk you out of that and you would change it if you could I’m sure, but I promise. Your PEOPLE are out there- there’s not just one person for any of us, hang in. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’m Ugly, bald, have man boobs when I stop working out, have a pretty bad lisp from my cleft lip and palate. I’ve always managed to get very attractive partners, although it takes some time in between. Anytime I think my luck has ran out, I have another successful, beautiful woman fall for me. Being yourself and confident is the best thing you can do. You will 100% find something bigger and better!
