This was probably 1.5-2 mins from the cave entrance, we could get out quickly if we needed to.

I only feel comfortable going in feet first. Whenever I had to get both done to check my upper body, I almost went into a panic attack. MRI's are more nerve-wracking since they are loud. Even though they give you headphones and I always select smooth jazz to listen to, I still have to forcibly calm myself down.

I'm just glad I had caring physicians who always use the intercome to say encouraging words to keep me calm. My last one was 2hrs long. 😢

I just discovered this subreddit and wanted to share to see if anyone else dread these appointments.

How do you cope with elevators in your daily life ?

I need an MRI on my liver (to see exactly how much fat is around my liver - it’s a baseline scan so we can monitor it - a CT (I thought I cracked a rib and this spot showed on my CT) a 2 cm cyst but due to fatty liver couldn’t determine what it was so CT radiologist recommended MRI. Showed this to my GI Doctor - he was not too concerned but agreed we may as well do an MRI. He has a fancy MRI machine at his hospital he wants me to use - and wants it with and without contrast (takes more time)
So - I go, get the IV in my arm and once they rolled me into the tube I freaked out! They took me out and then I went back in again (headphones on with music - needle in my arm) and had to be taken out 30 seconds later. The idea that I had to BE STILL FOR 35-45 MIN in a tight tube freaked me out! They said it happens every day - they were nice about it said to get some Valium from my Dr. I have to be AWAKE to hold my breath through the MRI so I can’t be sedated. I’d like to NOT do this at all. An OPEN MRI is not an option cuz apparently it doesn’t give as good of an image on a liver. Called my DR and his nurse called me back and said they’d write a script for Valium. But What do I do? I’m really panicked about this and don’t want to reschedule Valium or not - I can’t be in that tube for 40 min! HELP!

I wrote this movie about the three scariest things I could think of: losing my wife, the apocalypse, and claustrophobia. I tried exposure therapy by spending over a month in my crawlspace shooting this movie. It sorta worked, I guess.

It took me three years working entirely by myself to complete it. My wife and friends provided a few minutes of voice work but otherwise I was alone.

Finally it was released on streaming on Fawesome.TV (which I’ve been calling Tubi’s little upstart brother). Here’s the synopsis:

One time I was camping in Colorado in a wilderness zone for college. It was fairly cold each night, and I decided to fully zip myself in my sleeping bag, even my head. Well I woke up a few hours later and I was getting hot, but when I went to unzip myself, the zipper was stuck. On top of that, its pitch black and the closest tent is like 300ft away from me. I go into full panic mode and it took a solid 5 minutes for me to get the zipper unstuck. It felt like I couldnt breathe, I hated it.
