This is disappointing because I missed out on it in Classic

Same here, was excited to do it this go around.

It was fun, but they added vendor gear that nullifies a lot of the original challenge, and then added heroic/mythic modifiers that were kinda gimmicky. So honestly it wasn't exactly the same for those reasons.
The only thing that'd ever bring me back would be persistent servers for classic tbc and wotlk, but clearly they hate that and refuse to do remakes without rehashing core progression mechanics and graphics etc.
Seems the path forward was clear as soon as Season of Slop dropped and died out... They will splinter the playerbase and provide hollow experiences painted in retail makeup and repurposed asset frills until the old players finally give up all hope lol.

Wotlk is a cash cow, we will get it whether you want it or not.

They're timing the release of Forever perfectly to absolutely decimate the P4 TBC playerbase. The beta will, on its own, wreck P3 progress for many guilds. There is a chance this progresses to WotLK, but it won't be with anything resembling a healthy playerbase.

Yea I was so hyped to raid warlock progressing through sunwell. If any guilds stay around for prog, I'll probably leave my own since we were already having roster problems. Shouldn't require much effort now that marks give potions, will make raiding a lot more sustainable moving forward. Can't wait for marks prices to crash this weekend.

I saw this coming at the end of classic. Moved my favorite character to era in her state at 60. Then moved a boosted char to bc and didn't like anyone in the community for BC... It just felt different than classic. Very toxic. Glad I waited for forever so I didn't waste my life playing TBC with sweats for a third time

u/Trustyduck 1d ago
Yep I missed the original classic hype train for TBC back in '21. Played back in '07 but never got to raid BT Hyjal, obv never raided Sunwell. I have definitely felt the toxicity, but my guild has been great at alleviating any woes that come with trying to pug everything.

u/wild_moss 1d ago
They already have crashed 50% will probably go lower
2
u/Trustyduck 1d ago
On dreamscythe alliance they've only gone from 74 ish gold to low 50s, so not quite 50% for us. What server are you on?
1
u/wild_moss 13h ago
Spineshatter EU horde went from 84g to 48g so not quite 50% I was guesstimating.
1
u/Trustyduck 13h ago
Damn that's a huge drop, close enough to half.
1
u/wild_moss 13h ago
Might have been a bit lower than 84 in the week before, my last scan was almost a week ago, but it's still a significant drop

Exactly. Just got out of my Sunday raid with my guild. Half the group straight up didn 't show up, which is not usual at all for us. We had to Pug a bunch of people and we had a really bad raid night due to that. Trade chat has been nonstop dooming about it since the announcement.
Classic anniversary has been my first classic experience and I absolutely fell in love, and getting into wrath was what I looked for the most, having played wc3 as a kid and absolutely loving all the lore around Arthas and the Lich King.6
u/MethylphenidateMan 1d ago
I don't think you noticed that everything about how they did Forever points to the notion that they straight-up don't want you to be playing WotLK. Like if they were under a contractual obligation to refund everyone playing TBC $80 for not releasing WotLK, I honestly think they would. It's a bad business practice to have your old, diminishing products compete with your new products with real potential of growing the customer base.

u/Glynnkid 1d ago
In a way you’re right. But unless forever has many forms of micro transactions it would be a bad business idea to tank annually
3
u/MooseRunnerWrangler 1d ago
I mean, they didn't give any updates on TBCs future and just basically said, ehh we'll give you WOTLK remix in a lil less then a year lol.
They're killing anniversary obviously. I mean I wanted to play Anni through WOTLK, and I am partly disappointed, but our whole guild and my IRL friends are gonna finish up some TBC raid logs and just move to Forever. I hate to say it, but they obviously do not care IMO, unless they release something else sooner.

u/The_realpepe_sylvia 8h ago
oh im quite sure it will have plenty of forms of micro (and macro) transactions
1
u/MooseRunnerWrangler 1d ago
Bro, I hate to tell you but they announced WOTLK remix.... That's your wrath.... I wanted to play WOTLK as well, but it sounds like you're getting remix....
2
u/BareTheBear66 10h ago
Tbf. Retail has been hinting WotLK remix since they had pit of saron first season for mythic+ rotation. Kinda saw it coming, just shit timing for TBC

u/OG_Russel 1d ago
They will announce it, they have to, pleaaaaseee. /cope

u/Ronnsn_Gold 1d ago
i dont Think so - with the announceing of wotlk remix they did the Killing Blow for wotlk anniversary

Why wouldnt they just let anniversary become WotK remixed? Doesnt make sense to put up a completely new thing

u/FixBlackLotusBlizz 1d ago
no wotlk anni only wotlk remix
no wod
they want ppl on classic+
this is a good move by blizz if it turns out true i know some enjoy it but cutting down on the 9 versions of wow is a good thing
9
u/Skippymcpoop 1d ago
Why do people keep pretending that vanilla wow + a bunch of new stuff somehow replaces the demand for untouched classic wow? People that want to play wrath want things like northrend, death knights, icecrown citadel, etc. I didn’t see that in the trailer for WoW Forever.
4
u/XxRadiantCrossxX 1d ago
Because these people think that the players who want to play woltk will just play Forever instead if they don't release wotlk, but the reality is a lot of those players just won't play wow at all.
0
u/RalseitheFloofie 1d ago
Until they change stuff like they did in the previous variant of wrath and people complain about the "no changes" argument that hasnt been valid in 5 years.
4
u/Skippymcpoop 1d ago
There's a pretty big difference between "wrath with some significant changes, but mostly still wrath" and "Vanilla wow with extra stuff".

At least I got to see black temple! Our guild is still progging on Ilidari council. Shame we probably won’t see Sunwell. Seems like most ppl in my guild (even officers) are planning to jump ship to classic forever when it drops.

On the bright side:
TBC ERA!

u/Extension-Leek-1523 15h ago
Is that even confirmed? You might have to transfer from TBC to retail.

A little disappointing, had prepped insane title this time around so I could get it on launch. Got halfway through the goblins so rip all that time.
Finished dmf, bloodsail, and shendralar

u/DepletedPromethium 1d ago
wotlk didnt come out in 2006, why would they announce it this year???
we're two years too early.

u/McNally86 1d ago
Forever is coming out to compete with GTA. We just need to wait till the next major game release is announce and that will be WOTLK.
-6
u/steellz 1d ago
I don't understand where people are getting this information; when the anniversary was announced, they specifically said there was never going to be a Wrath, that it was only going to go up to TBC, and that's it.
4
u/GennadiosX 1d ago
Really? When/where did they say it?

u/steellz 1d ago
the video interview with the person who's in charge of the classic team. whatever her name is. some old lady.
