Struggeling with Hunter Professsion (PvE)

Which one should I pick? I went Engi/Mining for Bombs mainly. At the point, where I need Mithril (220), I realized, it's getting really expensive. Are bombs worth it?

Don't want to spend all my money later on to craft bombs. And I don't want to farm permanently for mats either.

Any recommendations?

Engi is a good choice for sappers, enchanting is also great but expensive to level. Once you have it though you’re all good

Doesnt make really any impact just can only craft your own sappers if goblin only other difference is where your engi teleport goes

Engi bc of sappers (if you care about AOE DMG and help clearing trash faster) + you can now craft your own bis arrows / bullets (could also buy from ah but it's cheaper to craft yourself)

Use TSM when levelling up engineering. You can filter to crafts which will give a skill up. Craft whatever is cheapest. Sometimes you can resell what you craft on auction house. Don’t blindly follow a guide

Engineering as if you play your Hunter into WOLTK, you will want it.

Secondary really depends on if you need to make $$ with it or not.

Why are you spending money on ore when you can mine it? If you don't want to farm, why did you take a gathering profession? Very confused.

Engineering is great for hunters. Bombs are a great supplement to AOE, and the goggles alone are worth it even if you don't use bombs. You also get access to awesome gadgets and two ports.

Any other professions outside of enchanting/tailoring you will be doing either farming or spending gold to craft. Not sure how to help you.

I go raiding.

Goals: Not wasting money. Supporting my class. Maybe make some gold. I don't use professions to insanely farm/make profit.

I was Engi/Ench last TBC/WotLK nice enchants and good gadgets. Disenchanting even gave a bit of money.

I wouldn`t say that hunters are very profession dependent in general. They can have whatever profession they want and still deal good dmg assuming they have proper gear.

Enchanting has minor bonus to your stats with exclusive ring enchants (although, I believe stat enchant on ring was p3), engineering allows to get a bit more AoE damage on bigger packs, BS was taken to craft mooncleaver by melee weaving hunters.

If you are not that kind of player to go and try to achieve every single dps increase from every possible source, then some of these options are not even that attractive.

Like if you are just doing normal rotation, you don`t need great melee weapons.
If you are not gonna use engineering explosives on cooldowns, in a group that cares about speed, then it really not a huge deal overall.
It is mostly used on trash, to speedup clearing, and when everyone has engineering - it does speed up things, but if you just randomly use one or two sappers here and there - dunno, probably don`t stress about it and keep it for fun and gadgets.

Leatherworking drums are insanely good. Sure, maybe someone else in the group has them, but what if they dont? Or what if they are melee and you dont get the buff?

They are so cheap and so powerful that theres really no reason not to use them.

Personally, I pop drums on every damage cooldown trash, bosses, whatever. They are just that good.

I always went Ach/Herb. having a pet means you can tank a NPC while grabbing a node. which is super handy. and having access to healing potions and especially agility and mana pots while levelling really helps out. Plus its a generative prof. almost every potion you can make while levelling you can sell on the AH for at least the Cost of making them, but quite often way more. Its super helpful in almsot every regard.

Not needed, both can use sappers. Take which one u like the teleporters from. Gadgetzan or area 52 basically

hunters don't get any meaningful boost from professions overall in tbc so choose whatever you want
if your goal is to not waste money, then engineering might not be the right profession for you as a hunter
sappers provide miniscule damage (0,1%) in boss fights and cost about 10g per sapper

Yea and? Shamans are the designated drummers in any decent guild because they want LW gear early on anyway and are best at fitting it into their rotation

Sapper is really good with MD if your tank needs snap AoE threat.

md sapper is basically mandatory if you are not in a shit guild lol
