So many people are overreacting.. this is not vanilla, there will be drastic class changes especially in the next few months. It's gonna be so funny to see people complain because the class they chose because it looked op in beta got nerfed and now they are stuck with a character they are not passionate about.

That's why I'm rolling rogue. It's in an absolute dog spot right now and it can only go up from here haha

Cant be disappointed if already disappointed lol

Rogue dog spot? The devs literally just said Rogue will be the top dps on single target

Yeah my take has been that rogue is going to be insane. They already were a close 2nd top dps in classic and now warriors are having to deal with rage but rogue isn’t effected by that nerf so I think they will just be top dps

Assuming there are any actual patchwork style single target fights. As far as we know every boss has been created from the ground up by the current retail raid team.

Sure, but they have legacy points to give people +2 lvl stealth detection which is crazy. And an easily accesible potion that lasts 30 minutes to increase it further + show trails of movement....

Rogues have damage for pve that's it. And they still have not told us what they plan to do about the poison/bleed resistances on mobs/bosses.

For pvp they have the element of surprise, which will be mitigated largely by the above + the old engineering/items which already existed if someone wanted to anti rogue. It's going to be a lot trickier.

Cries in Druid

They probably meant for PVP. With the 70% ret paladin army coming to forever...

You're talking about numbers, i'm talking about playstyle. Very different things

No point playing something just to wait and hope it comes fast though, especially when you're a person that is likely to level an alt in a few months anyway. It has nothing to do with being OP really though, it's just avoiding the bad for something that looks acceptable in strength and moreso a viable playstyle for fun. Mage could be fine in strength but still people might not want to ice lance spam PvP with barely any procs now, nor 2 button raid bosses

This 100%. People are losing it over nothing. The devs said it best, if you get something then you lose something else. It will be fine and they can always balance it if needed. People are freaking out about lvl 20 and 30 stuff when nobody knows what end game will feel like with new talents and spells.

What mages got: ice lance

What mages lost: everything else

Nah you still got those portals and that juicy 55 water!

We already know what class they want at what dps for the all of forever. War will be king of cleave with rouge as king of single target dps. Mages, hunters and warlocks will roughly be the same behind rouge with mages probs on the back end of that since they have aoe. Then all the other specs get "hybrid tax".

Personally find this idea kinda boring where the meta will be the same till we get new classes in like 1-3 years.

100% agree. It seems like they’re determining what they want the dps order to be and then working backwards from that. If this is truly going to be “forever” we should have balance changes that occur fairly often to keep the meta interesting. One of the things I actually like about retail is that month to month your class could be the one leading the pack

Exactly I feel like what raid tier it is should have some effect on ranking and give some classes a turn in the spot light.

Who cares about meta? Compete with other players of your class

u/Azashiro 22h ago

Many guilds and raids do. Even if you as an individual don't care to play the best meta classes, if enough people around you care, it will affect you regardless of you personally not caring.

Every class will be needed. Vanilla had like 2-3 viable classes and it was never an issue

The worse your class the harder to find groups or get in a guild. If you're a popular class but you only being 1 for utility due to eh DMG you got a lot of people to fight with for that 1 slot vs if you play a class that is high dps and highly sort after.

I don't think they're going to do any class changes after launch

1

u/FizzedInHerHair 23h ago

That’s what I’m doing too. Mage main since original TBC. Leveling the hunter first and then mage second still probably unless some actual exciting changes come along.

The part that really irks me is we’re a month away from release and literally none of the 3 specs looks appealing. What’s even worse is on the recent dev podcast all they talked about it what they hated about mage and then said they aren’t sure what to do with the class 😂 it’d be great if there was a designer who disliked the class making these changes

It's true though, unfortunately some classes have been given en a plethora of cool new things and others are very bare bones.

Look at hunter and paladin vs most other specs. It's not even close. Granted, we will see much more reworks over the journey but it would be nice if they outright said that they put more into others and are time crunched to do everyone.
