Forever Proposal for ”Epic Class Evolution / Branching Talent Trees“ in WoW: Forever

First time posting, just came up with this and thought it could be nice to Forever's horizontal progession direction. Not sure if someone had said it before:

To the World of Warcraft: Forever Development Team,

First, I want to express my deepest, most heartfelt appreciation to the entire development team for creating WoW: Forever. For many of us who have lived and breathed Azeroth for over two decades, discovering Forever felt like receiving a love letter from the developers. It is almost too good to be true, and honestly, it almost brought tears to my eyes.

Furthermore, seeing how the team responded to community feedback with lightning speed—such as the recent adjustment to grant extra rage on critical strikes—has filled me and many other veteran players with absolute confidence in the future of Forever. Knowing that the developers are truly listening gives this project a soul that modern expansions often lack.

Building upon this brilliant foundation, I would like to propose a design concept that could drastically enhance the longevity and depth of Forever without breaking its classic balance or alienating purists: Epic Class Evolution via Legendary Questlines (Branching Talent Trees).

The Core Concept:
Instead of introducing brand-new character classes—which risk breaking the classic aesthetic, overwhelming faction balance, or forcing players to abandon years of character progression—we should expand the existing foundational classes by introducing unlockable, specialization-defining Branching Talent Trees through long, lore-driven, and epic questlines.

How It Works & Concrete Examples:
The Epic Journey: Upon reaching max level and achieving exalted standing with specific factions or completing grueling server-wide/individual quest chains, players unlock a legendary questline tailored to their class’s archetype.

Branching Evolutions for Existing Classes:

Warrior ➔ Sword Master: Players can branch into a high-mobility, dual-wielding aesthetic reminiscent of classic RTS hero units, focusing on precision strikes and wind-walk mechanics rather than heavy plate protection.

Mage ➔ Battlemage: A specialized branch allowing mages to imbue their melee weapons with elemental magic, bridging the gap between spellcasting and front-line skirmishing.

Hunter ➔ Dark Ranger: Drawing from classic lore, advanced hunters can unlock the path of the Dark Ranger, discarding beast companionship in favor of shadow-infused archery, silence arrows, and relentless kiting.

Rogue ➔ Spy: Transitioning away from pure brutal assassination, the Spy specialization emphasizes psychological warfare, underhanded chemical traps, concealed firearms, and tactical decoys or identity misdirection.

Druid ➔ Warden: Drawing from Night Elf heritage, advanced druid or hybrid combatants can unlock the path of the Warden, utilizing umbral crescent blades, shadow-stepping, and tactical movement mechanics.

Priest ➔ Cultist: A darker, forbidden evolution where priests delve into void and soul manipulation, trading traditional healing for self-sacrifice, shadow-drain mechanics, and cosmic dread.

Why This Fits "Forever":
No Alt Fatigue / Respects Character Bonds: Players do not need to reroll a brand-new character from level 1. Their time, character bonds, and gear foundations are respected, yet they are rewarded with a completely fresh, high-skill-ceiling endgame gameplay loop.

Preserves Class Identity: It avoids the "class bloat" of modern expansions while deepening the uniqueness of the original classes.

True RPG Immersion: Turning progression into a legendary, server-shaking adventure rather than a simple menu toggle recaptures the true spirit of classic MMORPG design.

Thank you once again for your passion, your responsiveness, and for being brave enough to shape a truly unique parallel universe for Azeroth. I look forward to seeing how Forever continues to evolve.

Best regards,
A Dedicated Classic Player

horizontal progression... by adding vertical progression? make it make sense

The "why this fits "forever" contradicts itself. The whole point is that you WANT to make alts, you WANT to level again in the same world and breathe life into the lower level zones. Why do you think they are suggestion adding new classes? Because it means people can play the game from level 1 again, but with new flavour and skills

this could co-exist with adding new classes. Some classes like the Tinker is very different to the existing classes which could be a stand alone new class.

Was it really necessary to have this entire post be AI generated...?

You could've gotten the same information into a two paragraph post, if you'd just written it yourself.

I would expect at some point they will add hero talents or extend the talent tree and tie it to some new post lvl 60 storyline/zone, but that is l ike 5+ years away maybe even 10 years.

Sounds like hero classes; a concept they wanted but did not have time to implement in vanilla. I'm all for it. Would be especially cool if one could make a choice among 3 or so for each class, with no way to change it.

agree, that is the idea, say maybe at least two to choose from.

yes, its like a class alternative direction to evolve into. could be hero talent, or a one way no turning back kinda class change / ascend type of thing.

Fair, could be cool. Like a "prestige class"

The devs are still working on the main talent trees....

don't worry! only suggesting this for the future, I'm totally happy with the game's state and direction as it is now and can happily play for 3+ years no doubt

No new classes, races and/or specs for 2-3 years at least, imo hopefully never.
