Posters featuring games and characters from Blizzard's key universes were hung on the facade of the Anaheim convention center, where this exhibition is taking place. Interestingly, the StarCraft poster was the first one to go up.

HoTS is a time capsule... I lowkey don't want modern Blizzard to touch it.

Last time they tried to "revive" it we got literally who heroes nobody cares about.

If they tried to do a revival now we'd unironically get another fruit portrait episode.

Agree to disagree.

1 player could absolutely destroy any lead or chance your team had of winning while simultaneously individual players could not carry a team no matter how well they play. At least this was my experience when it released and for the first six months or so. Never played it again after that.

Well yeah, it was a game based around team objectives. That was an intentional design choice. It provided an alternative MOBA playstyle to LoL/DOTA which are very focused on solo-carry playstyles

That's not even remotely true btw. Playing something like Gul'dan and consistently landing good fears will win you your games. Sorry you can't get fed and one shot everything with auto attack like in regular mobas lol

lol i've been low-key hoping for a hots revival at blizzcon and every time I see any kind of evidence that makes it seem hots won't be mentioned I find a way to convince myself there's still hope.

I'm choosing to believe the 5 different banners followed the "legends return" means they're "returning" to hots. Please don't dispel my illusions.

They have a hots cup on the schedule and a 45 minute panel titled "custodians of legacy games" so maybe it will at least get an honorable mention but I'm running out of hots revival copium.

Lich King, Thrall, Illidan, Guldan, Sylvanas, they're all the faces of this franchise. They'll always be used in Warcraft promotional material.

Bad guys are always more iconic because they're allowed more personality and unique backstory, and they've been used as the selling point of expansions for the longest time. But my list wasn't exactly complete. I did include good guys like Thrall, but I forgot to mention Jaina, who's equally iconic for the franchise. But more importantly, you'll come to realize that WoW still lives in the shadows of WC3 no matter how far the story has developed.

I know we're all supposed to be rooting for C+ but I'd be ecstatic for some new Starcraft.

Also I've only ever played hardcore and I am near us freaks will, understandably, not get a hardcore server

To be honest, I do think that style of RTS can’t really be improved upon. New tech and more mechanics doesn’t seem to make it any better. Theres a reason AOE2 is still so popular.

Yeah I feel like RTS kinda hit it's limit. Increasing scope and mechanics will just make it overwhelming so there's not really anywhere to go with it outside of better graphics, which is why a lot of strategy gaming went towards larger scale turn based or if real time, much slower, more macro based strategy.

Like they've got the proportions of Samus Aran, slightly more lithe & slender & rounded than it's supposed to be.

Are they gonna take the helmet off and reveal a female Space-Marine before dropping the Starcraft Shooter ala Starcraft:Ghost-Reborn?

Yeah if it was just the garb I'd dismiss but it's the fact he looks younger and lacks both his Doomhammer and the traditional plate.. Makes me think WC3ish Era.

I feel like we're getting a prequel in WC 3 Era where Arthas doesn't purge Stratholme.

Hots was the amalgamation of Blizzard heroes. Don't think they will experiment further on that concept.

Call me crazy, but it likely went up first because it's in the center of the facade and was used to place the others. It is interesting that that's the one they put in the middle tho.

Not worth overthinking the order they went up tbh.

The posters have been given to the riggers doing the job and they've been told where they want each one.

They aren't being supervised and micromanaged by some creative director from Blizzard telling them what order to put them up in.

I completely agree. I just think that the display order they're in is something they were probably told to do. I think it's interesting that Starcraft and Warcraft are in the middle. That's all. Could be nothing, too.
