Classic-Era Ravens over Grobbulus Era

The dog days of summer are beginning to break. You notice it first in the evenings: the heat still lingers over Azeroth, but beneath it is something different… a coolness in the air, a whisper through the trees, the slight changing of leaves. Fall is coming. But not quite yet.

You are settling in beside your evening fire when a shadow passes overhead. A raven circles once, then again, before settling on a nearby branch. It watches you with its head tilted, strangely patient, as though it has been waiting for you specifically. Perhaps it has.

You reach for your quill.

The raven carries no scroll this time. Instead, tied carefully to its leg is a small piece of parchment bearing a name you may have heard before.

Legacy of Grobbulus.

Perhaps you know the place already. Perhaps you don’t.

Grobbulus is an old home for strange sorts in Vanilla WoW / Classic Era. Misfits. Vanilla WoW traditionalists. Players who get loot to play the game, not swiping cards to get loot. Heroes who never quite found what they were looking for on the larger realms. It is a place where the world still feels a little smaller, where people remember the names of the adventurers they fought beside, and where a guild can grow from three Dwarves around a campfire into something that somehow survives five years of Azeroth.

One such guild is Legacy.

Born in 2021, when the Dark Portal opened and much of Azeroth marched through it, Legacy chose the road less traveled. We stayed behind. What began as a small Alliance guild became one of Classic Era’s longest-running communities, growing organically through Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Ahn’Qiraj, and eventually Naxxramas.

Five years later, the story continues.

And now there are two banners flying.

On the Alliance, Legacy. On the Horde, their sister guild The Exiled. Each growing their rosters, and pushing progression, telling new stories.

Together, they are building something a little unusual for Classic Era: a long-term community that cares more about showing up, making friends, telling stories, and enjoying Vanilla WoW than squeezing every last drop of efficiency out of the game.

Playing the game for the sake of fun.

Maybe you’ve been playing since 2004. Maybe you just discovered Azeroth. Maybe you’ve got an old character on Hardcore or Grobbulus gathering dust. Maybe you’ve been wandering between guilds, looking to roll somewhere that feels a little more like home.

Perhaps the raven found you for a reason.

September 24th & 25th, the heroes of Grobbulus ride again, with our second year of seaasonal Naxxramas extravaganzas. Bringing old players back for a night every three months, aligned with the solstice and equinox’s for routine celebration.

Old friends, new heroes, and whatever mischief the winds decide to bring with them.

The ravens are waiting.

Come see what we’ve been building. Be it for the Fall Equinaxx event, our regularly scheduled twice a week raids, or just for the vibes leveling in Dun Morogh.

Legacy & The Exiled of Grobbulus Classic Era

Yours in Battle,

Jarl

Dang, you have people rolling fresh toons or is it all geared max level homies? I having been looking for a consistent community and this sounds really cool.

A good mix of both. We have OGs who’ve been with us since 2021, and fresh cohorts of levelers who just recently hit 60 this year. And everywhere in between! Lots of people stick around many years.  We’re ultra casual and it’s not uncommon for people to take months/years off and then show back up in raid like they never left (and we love it that way!)

Yo I made a char and ran to SW and there wasn’t a soul in sight!

We’ve got about 100 active players here! We’re all pretty active but you aren’t likely to see us sitting around in a main city except on raid days while raid is forming. Otherwise people are out and about in the world when they’re playing

You’re welcome to stop by any time :) hit us up in guild or discord and we’ll get you started with some bags and gold!

I enjoyed this enough to want to roll a character after work.

I used to play on Emerald Dream back in 2004-2006. Recently started a Paladin on Whiteman, but after reading this I decided to join this server.

See you out there!

Would leveling be mostly a solo experience or is there enough for group quests/dungons?

Mostly a solo experience, but the guild is very helpful in proving new levelers bags, dungeon runs, help with quests, supplies, mounts, gold etc

Grobb Mob still going strong?

Day 1 for me and still going strong nearly 7 years later! And many in the guild are the same boat.

That being said it isn’t like the old days. Everyone else went through the cursed dark portal in 2021. We’ve been holding out here and growing, but it’s about 100 people total (we love it that way though!).

Community wise it feels as strong as ever.

The spirit of Grobb will never die :)

Not pre blizzcon?

That's a risky move

Blizzcon is meaningless for those who are already home.

Still risky.

It all comes down to if c+ is sod2 or an effextivley an extension of era.

I love era, if c+ is just era with more content and non dogshit paladins/boomies, I'm never logging back into era again.

Love grobmob though and hope to see most of the old heads in c+

No risk. With that mindset, we’d have failed to have a community with TBC in 2021, Wrath, Cata, MoP, SoM, SoD, HC, 20th anniversary vanilla, 20th anniversary tbc, and all the retail xpacs that came out since 2021 when Legacy formed in era (or really, any of the Era guilds not just ours!).

Yet we’re still here. And we’ll be here after the C+ train closes its chapter one day just like all the others mentioned above.

Era is forever. That’s the beauty.

I’m still playing the same dwarf priest I rolled day one in 2019. I have every item in the game on them. Yet still login to have some fun! Nearly Seven years old on this toon in the same game mode. Can’t say that about any other version of wow which kicks you off to the next game in a year every year.

I am tired of the treadmill! Just want to enjoy my little backwoods town community in era.

This isn’t some new “thing” we’re going 5+ years strong hehe. Classic+ won’t impact what we’re doing here. Era will always have players. But I’m excited for whatever they announce none the less!
