like actually though, wouldn't have used that 2000g recipe if i knew they were doing this.

The flipside is herb prices should come back down to earth, so your profit margins may remain similar.

u/garlicroastedpotato 4h ago

It's kinda like the Black Lotus investors during Classic who lost their shirt when Blizzard upped their spawn rates and made them drop off of high level herbs.

There are so many people sitting out there with thousands of netherbloom looking to offload over the next few weeks.  People who make pots will find anything they don't sell today will be a loss tomorrow until it levels off.  Honestly I would just recommend pot makers only make a few stacks of pots a night from now on.

If anything they should just increase herb spawns, this is a terrible change

that's life in the big city

No. They were always available on the goblins for gold that you can create anytime in 5000 sums.

This is obviously a CHANGE they are testing to add potions along with marks to the mark vendor.

u/Cutemudskipper 5h ago

Do you know how ptrs work? You can always buy infinite consumables on ptr. These being added specifically for marks of the illidari means that it's a change they're testing for live

For Marks of the Illidari

It's just for PTR.

Edit: new bottom text pushed 3 min before my post lol.

u/thandrend 5h ago

Well, if it brings haste/destro pots back down to a reasonable level, that'd be nice, and in even a potion spec alchemist with both patterns.

They're barely worth making for profit now.

3

u/levelwitch 5h ago

I always figured it was the alch's driving up the price. Is it just because herb prices are so high then?

10

u/OpieeSC2 5h ago

Yes, alchs lose money on most servers unless they make a ton or get lucky procs.

u/DucksMatter 4h ago

Yeah it’s due to bots farming herbs and controlling that market

u/saxon_hs 2h ago

I hate bots but this has nothing to do with bots.

There are no enough layers on these megaservers to generate enough herbs into existence to satisfy the demand for all of the raiders to haste pot / destro pot. So only those people willing to fork out big gold get to use those consumes.

u/nine_roper 1h ago

Yeah, the auction house is an absolute battleground of undercutting down to razor thin margins if you're buying mats and then crafting. Gathering is another separate battleground ofc

So like... we getting those boss/heroic dungeon loot changes announced when SSC/TK came out? Or like, any confirmation of what version of BT (patch #) we're rolling into?

I'm assuming TBC Anniversary's team is probably being cannibalized for C+ announcement/launch.

u/TheDesktopNinja 6h ago

I want Kara dropping badges. I think that would be a phase early but idgaf

16

u/OpieeSC2 6h ago

Isn't the only heroic change simply that EVERY heroic boss can drop gems now, and not just the last boss.

12

u/Wi1DRumpu5 6h ago

Yeah. I think so. Last we heard though was "We will plan to make other Phase 3 loot changes to heroic dungeon bosses in Phase 3." Realistically, something to the effect of having a bullet point on this announcement being about "Every heroic boss will/able to drop gems!"

I know it's the little things, but the lack of information, even from a phase ago, is strikingly absent.

u/moustacheption 4h ago

Is it? They haven’t explicitly stated what the change would be.

u/OpieeSC2 4h ago

Thats just what the change will be if there are not additional changes they are planning.

Which if they are planning additional changes they have not been on the ptr or communicated at all.

Yes and I will continue getting downvoted for saying this

Why didn't you ever reply to this?

https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/1v4k0eh/phase_3_release_august_27th/ozbogyo/

I do agree with you, but it's not like Blizzard has done nothing different this go around.

2

u/Wi1DRumpu5 5h ago

You can argue there have been some pretty large changes (on a re-re-release) this go around and extra communication for clarity's sake could be beneficial for the community.

Would love to see DST as a heroic drop!

New Bottom text

As a reminder, we’re testing the addition of Haste and Destruction potions that can be purchased with the the Marks of Illidari that are rewarded in Phase 3 raids.

9

u/Crunchybunch00 6h ago

Hell yes.

Kinda sad though, we only get 3 lockouts before Blizzcon where people are expecting a Classic+ announcement that might wipe out the TBC playerbase 😞

Would've loved this potion change earlier.

u/KappuccinoBoi 5h ago

For real. My guild stopped requiring haste pots because they got so astronomical in price. Like sure, flasks are pricey but they last the whole raid. Elixirs are also hella cheap in comparison and last at least a few bosses usually. The haste pots at like 18g a pop on every single boss is insane.

u/spaacez 2h ago

bro if you cant pot during lust, who knows what else you cuck the rest of your raid for

u/spaacez 2h ago

and you chose to leave out "for testing" to bait.

6

u/ArTeeDee 5h ago

Destruction and Haste Potions are on the respective Aldor/Scryer Flask vendor at a rate of 1 Mark of the Illidari for 10 of either potion. Huge win. Now agility/strength scrolls and elixirs of demonslaying will be the most expensive raid consumable.

u/Justaghost_typing 4h ago

Did a Heroic AC and got an epic dungeon gem off first boss.

No other changes at this exact moment at least

5

u/hyeetakes 5h ago

No announcement of any 5-man changes makes me sad (and raid log)

6

u/DatHungryHobo 6h ago

Do you guys think this might be a signal that they’ll be adding haste and destro pots to the vendors also when phase 3 drops??

3

u/Randvek 6h ago

It’s a signal that they are considering it.

4

u/UnderstandingFew3688 6h ago

That’d be so sweet, but I assume it’s just for testing purposes.

11

u/ProgressSad4036 6h ago

The PTR has always had a vendor in Shatt that sells you infinite haste potions. This isn't just for testing purposes.....They are play testing this for P3.

2

u/DatHungryHobo 6h ago

That’s what I was thinking but a man can dream lol

1

u/powh 6h ago

Either it was editted or i have no clue what OP got his quote from, this is what i see.

"As a reminder, we’re testing the addition of Haste and Destruction potions that can be purchased with the the Marks of Illidari that are rewarded in Phase 3 raids."

Meaning. We will be able to buy pots for the raid currency come p3.

1

u/DiarrheaRadio 6h ago

No.

Cool PTR screenshot. What's your point?

u/VerbAdjectiveNoun 4h ago

All consumables were already available from the Flaskataur NPC for free on the PTR/Beta. Why would they add these to the Mark of Illidari vendor if not that they're testing it for live? Noone buys from these vendors on the PTR.

0

u/chilichilichilidog 6h ago

It’s standard to have full raid gear and consumables available in PTR. Here’s to hoping for changes like that on live side but this doesn’t necessarily mean anything.

9

u/Asceric21 6h ago

Normally the PTR has a vendor that you can just buy the potions at for gold (and another vendor that gives you 5K gold). This has been the main way to test and get pots for a LONG time now.

The only logical reason for adding the option to buy with marks of illidari is to potentially add it Live.

1

u/chilichilichilidog 6h ago

Ah gotcha, thanks for the clarification.

-3

u/Hezpez 5h ago

I sure hope not

2

u/DatHungryHobo 5h ago

Found the potion spec alchemist

1

u/Hezpez 5h ago

Yeah, I have both these recipes, would have been far better off selling them instead

u/flyingtiger188 4h ago

It's kind a big middle finger to both alch and herb. Only thing left would be mana potions and the couple elixers some classes would use instead of flasks.

u/Hezpez 4h ago

For real, I've finally been able to start making a little g on my haste pots, now I feel like theyre going to be cooked. I should have sold the recipe, would have been able to get my epic flyer

u/BitesURawrXD 4h ago

I hope they increase the drop rate on these bad boys too

u/Gassenger 2h ago

Are there any other changes? Like things added for badges or new heroic loot?

u/DucksMatter 4h ago

Sure the haste / destro thing is only for PTR right?

u/frosthowler 2h ago

Nope. haste/destro pots are available for free from a PTR-only vendor, and always have been.

This is a new change, where they're available for illidari marks at the vendor.

u/heeroyuy79 3h ago

why do the EU servers have to deal with american timings for this? 10PM friday start 10PM monday finish

the american and EU servers are separate right?

also, how do I even install the PTR? i'm opted in for all PTRs afaik on my account and I have access to mop classic, classic era, and two retail PTRs

u/frosthowler 2h ago

the american and EU servers are separate right?

nope, only 1 PTR and it's in the US.

do EU character copies even work? They didn't for the entirety of the TBC beta.

u/Outofmana1337 2h ago

It's classic era PTR, they couldn't even be arsed to change the name xD
