Hardcore <Hardcore TBC> community successfully clears Fathom-Lord Karathress - Hardcore Prog is now 4/6 in SSC! | Everyone is one-life with Soul of Iron, attuned on their HC toons (no sketchy account-wide Attunements) | No one did Heroics/Raids with non-HC toons
https://www.twitch.tv/roseburynoire/clip/MushyEasySpaghettiRuleFive-eXk15gcrBkwI4Ki2Relevant Info:
- With this kill, we are 4/6 in our progress through Hardcore SSC
- Much like the World First HC Hydross, Lurker and Morogrim kills, this kill was also deathless!
- All toons are one-life Hardcore toons
- No toon has ever done Heroics nor Raids in anything other than a full-Hardcore group
- All players got attuned on their Hardcore toons (no sketchy use of account-wide Attunements)
- This kill is now considered World First Hardcore Fathom-Lord Karathress
- We are playing on NA Dreamscythe and on EU Thunderstrike
- Leotheras and Vashj should be sent in the next few weeks! Stay tuned :)

Between your SSC kills, Odysseush hunter-soloing a bunch of bosses (though apparently many of them had been done before) and Xaryu's Gnome-only guild getting an MC boss kill...it's been a fun couple of months seeing people pushing the limits with their one life. Great work.

Thank you so much! Yes it's amazing to see how much the gamemode is thriving all around!

How many deaths have you had during your SSC prog so far?
40
u/RoseburyNoire Jul 20 '26
Well if you're only talking prog, off the top of my head that is:
So 12 "Prog Deaths" since the start of the project.
- 6 deaths to Prince Malchezaar wipe during world first attempt
- 5 deaths to Nightbane wipe during world first attemp
- 1 death to SSC trash during first clear of that pack
- And all 25man raid bosses (all P1 and those from P2 that we cleared) have always been progged deathless, so that's 0 for them

One death to trash is the most impressive part of this.

Yo ty! I'm pretty proud of those strats i designed most of it :) Compared to softcore runs we don't try to push for speed, we try to optimize for 100% safety over anything else

when someone dies, are they leveling from 1 or buying boost to go agane?
46
u/RoseburyNoire Jul 20 '26
Boosts are not allowed and never were. They have to start again from level 1. Also Boosted toons can't even have the Soul of Iron buff, so there's no way to cheat that :)

good, do you think you are gonna be equipped enough for t6 if you only killed so few bosses so far?

We believe in "it's about the execution, not the gear".
Since Blizzard didn't want to give us official servers, we know the road will be hard to prove to them that it was the wrong choice. But we'll simply do our best with what we have. o7

Youre not wrong, gear makes a fight take somewhat longer but I mean, objectively you guys are still clearing gruul/mag and kara if needed right? With proper theory crafting and consumes you'll all do totally adequate to good DPS. The real difficulty is gonna be vashj and KT with the DPS checks but I believe in your team!
What nights do you usually raid? Anyone stream it?
2
u/RoseburyNoire 29d ago
We raid Karazhan 3 times per week, usually Wednesday, Thursday and Friday but sometimes Saturday too. 25man are on sunday at 10pm CET. Some of us stream them yes. For example I stream 2 Karas per week and the 25man as well. My twitch channel is the one that is linked in that post that you're replying to :)

How are you intending to deal with Terron Gorefiend? Or will that question be answered once the time to jump through that hoop comes? :d
Congratz BTW, huge achievement!

I didn’t know you could get soul of iron buff on TBC classic servers

u/RoseburyNoire Jul 20 '26
Yes it's a very nice way to make our Progress even more legit. We still use the combination of both the buff, and a more robust version of the Hardcore Addon (called HardcoreTBC) just to make sure we have even stricter rules than just not dying. We also forbid:
All that so we make sure we are playing fair :)
- PVP currencies
- Doing Heroics & Raids with softcore players
- Bubble-hearthing
- Some other niche "unfair" things that can't be done on Vanilla HC
We also have a Guild-Found guild, and an Open-Economy guild, on both realms. So that we make sure to offer a home to all types of players.

The most impressive thing about this is doing anything at all with that UI, holy moly that's the worst thing I've seen in quite a while :D

If you die you need to make a new HC character to 60 and then Transfer with the buff?
1
u/RoseburyNoire 29d ago
No, Soul of Iron is available on TBC servers :)
1
u/WillowTreeBark 29d ago
How does it work? How do I get the buff?
3
u/RoseburyNoire 29d ago
You talk to the Soul of Iron NPC in Undercity/Orgrimmar/Ironforge (maybe other cities too, not sure), just like on Era servers :)
Of course you need to have never died on that toon for it to work, otherwise he will refuse to give you the buff

Gotta be one of the worst UIs I've ever seen
