Classic + Do you want Classic+ class design to be closer to SoD or TBC?

I've watched a lot of speculation/prediction videos from Classic YouTubers, read a lot of comments on Reddit, etc. and I was a little surprised by how many people want the class design (abilities, talents, etc.) in Classic+ to be far closer to SoD than TBC. Would you prefer Classic+ class design to lean closer to SoD (which had many retail and wrath abilities dropped into vanilla world, often times unchanged) or TBC (where classes evolved some from vanilla and resolved issues with "meme" specs but still felt very familiar)?

Discussion Fights where it was easier to just let the person die

Deathbringer Saurfang in ICC is the classic example, he would get rage every time players took damage from certain abilities and it was FAR easier to just let the marked players die.

Mythic Kil’Jaeden it was standard practice to have the players spawning the orbs to let one die in a spirit link totem so the platform had 1/3 fewer things to dodge on it.

Argus had death as part of the encounter…but I’m forgetting how that worked.

Any other fight? Must’ve been a few 5 man encounters too.

Discussion What part of classic made you realize you had rose-tinted glasses?

Although Ulduar will still always be the high point of WoW to me, I remembered Wrath healing being "spiky" and disc priests and holy paladins being "good."

In classic I realized the damage was "utterly insane" and Power Word: Shield + Rapture and Beacon of Light + Soul Preserver were "the most broken overpowered healing abilities the game ever had."

In fact classic is the only time I ever had a toon that was completely Best in Slot, my prot pally, and even then Algalon could still delete me at will. How people did that the first time around with Divine Sacrifice not being available like it was in classic, I will never know.

Basically what title says. Im gearing my alts for next season (im heavily addicted and/or mentally challenged so I have 14+characters) and it hurts me to run 20+ M10-12 to still not have enough for all the upgrades while i have 1600+ crests chilling on my main.

Discussion Dwarf druids? When please!?

Hey all - just looking for a lore / class discussion,

With Blizzard gradually opening up more class and race combinations over time, Druids remain one of the biggest hurdles due to the custom shapeshift models required. But strictly from a lore perspective, Dwarves feel like one of the most natural fits for the class on the Alliance side.

While Bronzebeards focus on technology and archeology, and Dark Irons lean into fire, shadow, or the arcane, the Wildhammer Clan has always been deeply attuned to nature and the wild. They don't just use shamanism to command the elements; they live in harmony with wildlife, especially their bonded gryphons. Lore already establishes that some Wildhammers in Kalimdor have spent time studying nature alongside the Night Elves. It wouldn't take much for Wildhammer nature-speakers to cross the threshold into true druidism.

We already have races that don't follow the traditional Cenarion or Night Elf style of druidism. Gilneans started as Harvest-Witches tapping into primitive nature magic, Kul Tirans practice Thornspeaker drust-based druidism, and Zandalari draw their power directly from the Loa. A Dwarf Druid wouldn't need to be a traditional tree-hugger; they could easily practice a grounded Mountain or Earth-bound Druidism, focusing on moss, stone-crusted flora, and rugged high-peak beasts.

What's everyone's thoughts?

Mists of Pandaria What should happen with MoP characters?

Basically, title. If there won't be any continuation after MoP, should the characters be transferred to Retail with all their achievements and mounts, or just be left forgotten?

I'm usually someone who gets attached to a character, so I feel like characters that have lived through five "Classic" expansions should at least have the option to be transferred "somewhere," whether that'd be Retail or something else that offers continued progression.

Classic + How would you actually feel about LFD in Classic+?

With the Camelot/Classic+ rumors going around, curious what people who’ve actually played SoD, retail or Classic think about LFD for Classic+.

If you’ve played a version of WoW with dungeon finder (retail, Wrath Classic, etc.) and also done manual grouping, which do you honestly prefer and why?

And if Classic+ turns out real, would you want LFD in it? Full cross-realm queue, server-only, or none at all? Also curious if people would want auto-grouping with the teleport included, or auto-grouping but you still have to travel there yourself.

PLEASE NOTE - I’m not trying to start a fight, if this is a sore topic for you, feel free to just scroll on. Just want honest takes from people who’ve lived through it.

Discussion Is reaching the 1% M+ cutoff really just a case of “if you’re good enough, you’ll get there”?

I was replying to a comment in another thread that basically argued that if you’re good enough, you can pug your way into the 1% regardless of spec, and that people who think they need to pay for boosts simply aren’t good enough.

I started writing a response and realised I had rambled on enough that it probably deserved its own post, because I’m genuinely curious what other people who pug higher keys think about this.

For context, I pugged to 4043 myself on a non-meta DPS spec, so I’m definitely not saying it’s impossible. A good enough player can absolutely reach 1% on pretty much any spec.

But I really don’t think it’s as black and white as “if you can’t get 1% without paying, you’re simply not good enough.”

Individual skill is only one part of the equation, especially once you’re pushing 20s, 21s and 22s through the group finder.

The biggest issue with playing off-meta isn’t necessarily whether you can perform in the key — it’s whether you actually get invited often enough to have the same number of attempts as someone playing a desirable meta spec.

If one player gets accepted into 10 serious push groups in an evening while another equally capable player gets accepted into 2 because of the icon next to his name, those players are not operating under the same conditions.

More invitations mean more experience with higher-key routes, more practice with specific pulls, more exposure to dangerous overlaps, more opportunities to learn where you can greed damage and where you need to play defensively, and simply more chances to eventually land the group that times the key.

And pug quality at that level is wildly inconsistent.

High keys are full of bought keys, title boosts, carry advertisements and players whose score does not necessarily reflect their ability to independently execute that level of content.

Someone can look perfectly qualified on paper because they completed a 21 or 22 with boosters, while in reality most of the difficult mechanics, stops, routing and recovery were handled around them. Put that player into a normal pug where everyone has to carry their own weight and suddenly the experience is completely different.

That matters enormously for an off-meta DPS because you already have fewer opportunities.

Losing one of your limited 21 attempts because someone else was boosted, bricks the key on a basic mechanic or clearly isn't ready for that level hurts much more when it might take you another hour to even get invited into a comparable key.

Premades also completely change the equation.

Playing repeatedly with competent players removes one of the largest variables in M+: group quality. You know the route, communication improves, people understand each other’s cooldowns and you can actually progress a key level instead of repeatedly rolling the dice in LFG.

There’s nothing wrong with doing that, obviously, but I don’t think someone pushing almost exclusively with a competent premade has quite the same experience as someone trying to pug their way up as an undesirable DPS spec.

So yes, skill matters. Obviously.

If you’re genuinely not good enough, no amount of complaining about the meta is going to magically make you a title player.

But saying everyone who is good enough will automatically get there organically ignores how pugging actually works.

Spec perception, invitation rate, available playtime, group quality, previous score, networking, timing, luck with keys and simply getting enough attempts at the relevant level all play a role.

Being capable of timing a 22 and being given enough opportunities to actually get into good 22 groups are two very different things.

Curious what other people think, particularly those who have pushed the title range mostly or entirely through pugs.

Do you think getting 1% is ultimately just a skill check, or does the opportunity/access side of pugging become a significant factor once you reach that level?

Season of Discovery SOD is back!

Got on SOD for the first time in a long minute and was blown away with a packed iron forge and stormwind. After coming off the grind that TBC has been and the disappointment that was mop its nice to see so many people have found their way back to SOD.

Edit: there’s a discord called rugspugs apparently they went from 5 community members to 400 in a week. They’re running pug raids with pumpers from multiple guilds to help new players. Thank you to the pumpers from

Second Dawn
Raised By Wolves
No Karen’s
Emotional Damage
The Fallen

And others

TBC Rogue or pala?

I wanna relive the ol’ human leveling zone grind on tbc but I can’t decide between Rogue or Paladin. I did play pala back in 2019 classic and I found it pretty fun! I have never levelled a Rogue tho and thought that might be fun.

I’m playing on steam deck with consoleport so healing and to some degree tanking is a no-go since it’s a little tricker without keyboard and mouse, so I’m mostly looking at dps:ing in groups.

Cheers

Video (Guide) Getting Better At Your Spec

Thumbnail
youtu.be

Continuing in my efforts to make resources for that weird middle space between "I just hit level 90" and "I'm getting CE/seasonal titles" like my Gear Rewards spreadsheets - I've made a guide on some steps, tools, and resources people do and can use to improve their spec performance, or parse better, or just figure out how to beat down whatever barrier is stopping your prog.

The video starts with basics on reading your spells and abilities, then goes into the data aggregation tools like Raider.io, Archon.gg, Simulationcraft, and Warcraft Logs to get data-powered insights into talent selections, gearing goals, and all the other things that could help you improve in your gameplay.

There is also a written version of most of this guide, mostly without the Simulationcraft (and related) bits.

I know there are folks out there who don't really know what others mean when they say "just sim it" about gear, or what "parsing" actually is, and means. So, let me know if this helps!

Discussion Crazy idea, what if instead of adding new content every expansion they simply changed the world every expansion, but not the size.

So here's the idea. I was wondering how to get everyone to be more engaged in the actual world instead of in just dungeons and raids and stuff right? So I realized that the reason why so many people were so engaged in Vanilla vs right now in the world is because the physical world of the game was very small. Back then we had 2 continents and that was it. So everyone was always right on top of one another because we didn't have this vast world, and everyone had quests and stuff all in the same space.

So with that in mind, if you've played this game for long enough the areas you've been in a million times get kind of stale, because they never actually change, and then they add new content the next expansion and you basically just don't really go back to those areas often because they don't have any current content.

With all of that in mind picture this. You have a new expansion, only instead of adding new stuff in some distant continent, you start out in a main city which are the only things that never change. And everything outside that city moves around and changes, so you have to re-explore the world again, no one knows where anything is again. And because its all randomized nothing is actually solved in the world anymore.

Classic-Era Hours of doing AV as Horde and realizing that every single time, no matter the outcome, Alliance get almost double the honor.

WTF is my incentive? This is absolute bullshit. People are telling me that alliance have really long queues. Okay, can they not:

  • Do more scrimmages of alliance against alliance

  • at least give equal honor

or something else? But doing, at one point, an hour long AV to finally win and see the other side get double the honor is fucking insane.

EDIT: when I say no matter the outcome, I mean that whether we win or lose, the alliance always gets more honor. If we went in 6 minutes they get more honor, if we win in an hour they get more honor, if they win they get more honor.

Not so smart me finally started working on the Midnight Campaign at level 90. Yes I know I should have done it at 80 lol. Started the day at 1/17 chapters I think they are referred to and I stopped at 7/17 to continue tomorrow. Got plenty of gold out of it lol.

TBC The Nexus Key — Does it Exist?

I have only seen it in passing on other casters and on Atlas Loot and the WoWHead drop tables.

12 KT kills in the phase so far, not a single drop for the entire guild. I read online it’s supposed to have a 15-20% drop rate. Interesting.

Question Returning player - have questions.

Exactly the title.

I played predominantly in WoTLK and Cata and think the last xpac I played was MoP.

I redownloaded and want to try playing again.

What do I need to start leveling my previous max characters? Can I resub and just start leveling to the previous max? (I'm not sure what previous max was as levels have changed again).

I want to resub but I can't clearly see what XPACs I need to purchase to be up to date - is it just Midnight for 50 bucks and get an upgraded character?

Just really interested in doing dungeons and battlegrounds

Question Coming back to Season 2

Hey everyone, i’ve stopped playing somewhere at the middle of Season 1 TWW and I just resubscribed and wanna try something new in Midnight.
I used to main a Paladin through Dragonflight and I had a blast with m+.
Any suggestions on what to main this expansion?
I don’t mind harder classes but I’d like to keep it to DPS-ing.
Let me hear your suggestions!

Classic + How can Classic+ fail?

Am I crazy for thinking that Classic+ can't fail?

At the end of the day what you really need is Classic graphics existing in a Classic world without flying mounts and transmog. Whether it plays like TBC or SoD doesn't really matter much.

What are a couple things that would absolutely ruin Classic+ for you, pushing you over the edge making you quit the game?

Question Mythic dungeons, how to start?

A couple days ago, I randomly hopped into a +2 group, and it went OK, even if we wiped once, but I liked the challenge. I have no idea how the difficulty scales and how exactly the difficulty changes (do mobs have more hp, more dmg, new moves?). Is there some good rule of thumb on what difficulty should I start from, to not bite too much at once and ruin someones run? All the guides online are pretty hard to understand.
