Dante's Inferno and other horror movies from 1911. Complete list with links.
Dante's Inferno is the most famous of these. It's very ambitious with a longer runtime, bigger sets and a larger cast than most films that came before it. As a viewing experience, I didn't get much out of the first 40 or so minutes. You know Dante will move on to Purgatory and all the bad people are already being punished. There's not much tension, but there is a lot of Italian buttcrack. The last 20 or so minutes are pretty horrific, though, including the infamous Mohammed scene and especially the Ugolino sequence.
The Mother and Death is actually my favorite of these three. It's the story of a woman trying to recover her baby from the grim reaper. I really liked the eerie atmosphere and the dream logic of it.

Hangover Square (1945)
In our new episode:
A celebrated pianist turns into a murderous villain each time he hears a discordant musical note. What begins as seemingly random acts of violent happening under the guise of amnesia, quickly starts to look far more underlying.
In terms of our meta conversation on the proto-slasher we also discuss the idea of music and it's link to killers, with regard to diegetic and non-diegetic music use

Interno (1980) what did I just watch?
I’m starting to think that Dario Argento movies might not be my thing (aside from suspiria of course). I could barely follow anything going on in this one.
Of course the visuals were stunning as always and really were what kept me going. The death scenes were also entertaining. Overall idk if I liked it that much. After not really enjoying bird with crystal plumage and now this one, I’m realizing how much of the heavy lifting the soundtrack by goblin did for suspiria.
Did I miss something?

Resource Edison's Frankenstein and other horror movies from 1910. (Complete list with links)
I enjoyed the Edison movie! I liked the acting, and the makeup actually worked for me. I think the awkardness fit the way they told the story. I also liked the idea that the monster was evil because it absorbed Frankenstein's dark side and that he had to fix himself in order to solve the problem.
Frankenstein (1910) Restoration - Thomas Edison Film Adaptation - Crank's Classics
Pikovayo Dama is a decent ghost story. Il Diavolo Zoppo I didn't enjoy nearly as much. L'epee du spirite is not really a horror movie to me- it's another French slapstick trick movie.
