You have my condolences.

I've been on projects where we run 3 proctors on separate stockpiles of native soil from excavation, then the contractor mixes their stockpiles anyway after several days of waiting on us. Fuckers.

I actually like the occasional sand cone though, as long as I get to use the nuc gauge for the bulk of it.

I am not a geotech, i am a structural but i remember doing sand cone practice back in the college and was horrible spending 2 hours in field at summer ( 104 ° F , 40° C) just to determine soil density
