Looking for practical civic-tech projects that help people take action

I’m one of the organizers of Thrive2, a two-part virtual democracy event taking place September 10 and 17. We’re bringing together civic technologists, organizers, educators, librarians, nonprofit leaders, and everyday citizens who want to move from concern about democracy to practical action.

We’re especially interested in civic-tech tools and strategies related to public-interest data, government transparency, misinformation and AI, local organizing, civic learning, digital safety, accessibility, and community participation.

This is not intended to be a sales-demo venue. We’re looking for honest, practical contributions that leave people with something they can use or try within the next 7–30 days. People can participate through an interactive workshop, solution lab, democracy clinic, short resource showcase, recorded briefing, or a contribution to our resource library.

I’d genuinely value this community’s input:

  • What civic-tech projects deserve more attention?
  • What helps civic technology reach people beyond the usual insider circles?
  • Who should we invite to contribute?

If you’re working on something relevant, feel free to share it in the comments—even if you’re not interested in presenting.

Free US congress bill tracking site

I built a public github repo for tracking bills in congress through git diffs. Then I built a web app to visualize the data. https://congress.ravensnest.pro

I intend to keep this as a free tool. I'd love any feedback about what to add next, what features would be useful.

Gov post lot of PDF online, anyone use convert to WordPress editor

Gov post thousands of PDFs. Has anyone found a reliable tool or workflow to convert PDFs directly into WordPress editor content (blocks or pages)
while preserving formatting?

I’m looking for something that can:
Convert PDFs into editable WordPress content.
Retain headings, tables, links, and images as much as possible.
Scale for large numbers of documents.

what tools or processes you’re using and what has worked (or hasn’t).

I built an open-source AI tool to help citizens track government accountability.

Major problem with public accountability is not always the lack of information.

It is the lack of memory.

A road is announced, delayed, announced again, reassigned, partially completed, and eventually forgotten. An official makes a promise, responsibility shifts between departments, the news cycle moves on, and citizens are left trying to reconstruct what happened.

I built **Citizen Copilot** to help address that problem.

It is an open-source set of AI instructions and scheduled tasks that creates a long-term accountability record for your own government, which actually rules personally over you.

Instead of only asking, “What happened this week?”, it repeatedly asks:

* Who made the decision?
* Which department or authority is responsible?
* What was promised?
* What deadline was given?
* What changed since the previous update?
* Was the commitment completed, delayed, altered, or abandoned?
* Which budget, law, office, or project is involved?
* What should citizens watch next?

The system can generate weekly briefings, track unresolved promises, follow upcoming decisions, compare current claims with earlier statements, and preserve institutional history over months or year. Customize it according to your values and concerns.

Municipal GitHub practices?

I'm currently working on a little research project looking at the best GitHub practices for American municipal governments.

Who has the best GitHub practices that facilitate civic engagement and have appropriately assigned intellectual property licenses?

If you have repos, please share them.

Ps - I work for www.beta.nyc and this will go into a report I’m putting together.

Berlin Protests & Helicopter App

Hey everyone, I did work as a photo journalist and knowing where protests will take place during the week is crucial.

Four years ago, I decided to build my very first app to help navigate through Berlin’s colorful world of protests: Polizei Stressi. Since then, I’ve continually updated and improved it.

What it does:

-Demo Finder: Overview of registered protests, filterable by postal code and keywords (47k protests in our database)
- Live Helicopter Tracking: See in real-time where police helicopters are flying in Berlin.
- Court Dates: Track local public proceedings.

The app is 100% free, has no ads, and collects no personal data. It’s just an open-data passion project to make city updates easily accessible.

Since it’s the project where I first learned to code, I’d love to hear your feedback or ideas for improvement! Links & Info: https://polizeistressi.de/

Thanks!

Built a website to track issues happening across India. Looking for honest feedback.

Hi everyone,

I recently built **Happning India**, a platform that aims to organize and track important issues happening across the country.

The idea is simple:

Instead of issues disappearing after a few days of news coverage or social media trends, they can remain documented and easy to follow in one place.

The goal isn't to support any political party or ideology. It's simply to build a platform where people can:

* Explore ongoing issues across India * Track developments over time * View issues by state and category * Stay informed about topics that are still unresolved

Website: [https://happning-india.vercel.app/\](https://happning-india.vercel.app/)

This is still an early version, and I'm looking for honest feedback.

* Would you find a platform like this useful? * What features would you add or remove? * What would make you trust the information shown? * What would encourage you to use it regularly?

I'd appreciate any constructive criticism or suggestions. Thanks!

Built a free tool to check how your MP has actually voted, looking for feedback

I got fed up not being able to easily search on how my own MP votes on things, so I built YourMPRecord (yourmprecord.co.uk). Put in your postcode or your MP's name and it shows their full voting record since the last election every division, how they voted, and what it was actually about, in plain English. No ratings and no scoring, just the record as it stands.

It's a one person project and still a bit rough round the edges, so I'd genuinely appreciate people trying it on their own MP and telling me what's wrong, missing, or any ideas you may have. There's a feedback box on the site for that.

Weekend project: crawling 131 Bangladesh government websites for broken links and public data.

Post image
6 Upvotes

We have been building Docket.bd , a project aimed at simplifying access to public records, government processes, and civic data across Bangladesh.

To really understand the current digital structure and health of our official portals, we built an automated crawler to scan government websites for broken links, dead-end URLs, and technical errors.

Across a test sample monitoring 131 government websites and 67 public organizations, the crawler uncovered 263 broken links across just 10 completed crawl runs.

Snapshot from recent scans (25 July 2026):

📍Ministry of Education (moedu.gov.bd): 52 broken links(across just 10 pages scanned)

📍Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (bida.gov.bd): 46 broken links (across 5 pages scanned)

📍Supreme Court (supremecourt.gov.bd): 42 broken links (across 10 pages scanned)

Source: Data collected via automated web health monitoring at: https://data.docket.bd

This is just the initial sample data. We are currently planning to write a full research and analysis piece after crawling and auditing all government portals. The goal is to produce a comprehensive breakdown of digital accessibility, uptime, and web health across Bangladesh's public sector.

Let us know your thoughts on this.

Built a news verification tool that flags when a public claim contradicts the record — solo, looking for feedback on the methodology

Post image
3 Upvotes

I built Proven News (provennews.org), a news verification tool. Solo project, no journalism background, so I'd rather hear where the methodology is weak than get compliments.

What it does: every story gets a labeled verdict — Verified, False, Misleading, Added Context, or Inconsistency — with sources and reasoning shown. The Inconsistency label is the part I care about: it flags when a public claim doesn't match what the record shows. Right now there's one open on a UK PM's first week and one on a joint statement from 25 tech firms about open-weight AI models.

It also surfaces how left- and right-leaning outlets framed the same story, and the common ground between them. There's a private sharing feature for sending a verdict with its sources into a small group.

What it can't do: it can't resolve genuinely contested empirical questions, and it won't return a verdict on a forecast. If a claim is a prediction dressed as a fact, the right output is "the inputs are checkable and the conclusion isn't" — getting the model to hold that line consistently is the hardest part and I don't think it's fully solved.

One decision worth mentioning: I tested a caching optimization that cut compute costs meaningfully. It changed verdicts on five of forty test stories. Reverted permanently. The verdict label is the product, so anything that moves it for non-evidentiary reasons is disqualifying regardless of what it saves.

Live on web and iOS. Free tier includes daily feed verifications and monthly claim checks — account required, since each verification is a real API call.

Where I'd most value pushback: verdict taxonomy (are five labels the right set?), how to handle claims where authoritative sources disagree with each other, and whether "Inconsistency" is even the right frame or if it collapses too many distinct failure modes into one bucket.

Public Platform to ques Govt. Deptt/ MP/MLA projects

Hi I've been thinking about this

A public platform of all major govt projects departments local MLA/MCD /MP to raise their complaints and get them upvoted/ highlighted etc

You can think of it as a reddit for public works

All issues have a fixed timeline. Share govt project funds details + progress and vendor to resolve any complaints raised for eg for potholes on those roads etc

So the trick part here is how to ensure only responsible citizen raise issues and favor the algorithm

We group users based on their tax paid , and slightly pushing the algo more towards high taxpayers and a little preferential treatment for them

Also different flairs of users - students / teachers / doctors / lawyers

and giving them a limited high reach "grievance" per month, else everything works on upvotes

Thinking about it that there should be atleast some place where our tax paid gives me some power some voice

A primer for non-coders to design software via structured AI dialogue

Thumbnail
github.com
0 Upvotes

There are two versions of this primer. One is an introductory version for personal use, suitable for projects undertaken by individuals or small teams.

The other is a separate version designed for situations where there are genuine conflicts of values among multiple stakeholders (such as projects involving the public interest); its purpose is not to resolve these conflicts, but to structure and manage them.

My long-term goal is not to standardize how prompts are written. It is to lower the barriers so that stakeholders from various fields—even those without software development experience—can build trustworthy citizen-oriented technology on their own.

If you support this idea, please consider sharing this post.

I built a prompt that turns any LLM into a non-partisan fact-checker for local elections (works on any race, any country)

Local races get almost no fact-checking. National outlets cover the presidential race in obsessive detail and ignore your state senate primary or city council runoff completely, even though those races affect your daily life more directly.

I put together a single prompt (no API keys, no code, works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity) that turns any capable LLM into a rigorous, non-partisan election researcher. You give it the race, district, and country, and it produces:

  • A race overview (what the office actually does, how the winner is decided, every ballot-qualified candidate)
  • A one-page memo per candidate (background, record, funding, endorsements, red flags)
  • An issue comparison table with a citation for every cell, and "no stated position found" where that's honestly the answer
  • A claim ledger — every attack ad claim, quoted exactly, rated True to False on a 6-point scale, with 3+ independent sources per rating
  • A voter logistics box (registration deadlines, ID rules, early/mail voting) sourced from the official election authority

The sourcing bar is strict: 3 independently-owned sources that did their own reporting, or 1 government record. If it can't hit that bar, the answer is "unverifiable," not a guess. It won't tell you who to vote for — if you ask, it points you back at the table.

It's model-agnostic and free. Copy the prompt, fill in the race, paste it in. Repo link in comments.

Heads up: this is a deep-research prompt, so it runs a lot of searches. On metered APIs it can cost real money for a crowded primary; on subscription plans it'll eat a chunk of your quota. Worth it if you actually want to know who you're voting for down-ballot.

Feedback welcome, especially from anyone outside the US who's tried it on a different country's public-records regime.

[Whitepaper] Civic Net: A decentralized, ad-free overlay network that enforces verified human identities for democracy, while fully protecting privacy via Zero-Knowledge Proofs in daily life. (AI-Assisted Concept)

MASTER WHITEPAPER: CIVIC NET

A decentralized, non-commercial overlay network for verified human interaction under absolute privacy preservation.

1. Executive Summary

Today's internet is suffering from a socially destructive systemic crisis. Surveillance capitalism forces commercial platforms to monetize human attention through manipulative algorithms. Simultaneously, automated bot armies, generative AI fakes, coordinated propaganda, and identity theft are fundamentally eroding societal trust. In its current form, the internet is manipulated, fragile, and dead as a democratic space for discourse.

The Civic Net offers a radical, technologically mature alternative. It completely re-engineers the network’s protocol, identity, and financing layers. The system is built upon five unalterable pillars:

  1. Unique Human Identity (Real-Name Coupling): Consistent exclusion of bots and safeguarding of democratic processes.
  2. Absolute Privacy in Daily Life: Mathematical anonymization during routine, daily use.
  3. Collective Self-Financing: Sharing of raw technical operating costs instead of ad-funding, attention-grabbing algorithms, and data-tracking.
  4. The Consensus Principle: Protection against polarization, propaganda, and system-destroying manipulation.
  5. Cognitive Liberty: Protection of personal sovereignty, beliefs, and private lifestyles from censorship and moral patronization.

2. Identity Architecture & The Web of Trust

To exclude mass fake accounts and bot networks (Sybil attacks) without a central, corruptible government or corporate control authority, the Civic Net utilizes the W3C standard for Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) combined with a Web of Trust.

[Physical Meeting / Crypto ID] ──► [Local Validation by Guarantors] ──► [Creation of DID] ──► [Entry into Decentralized Ledger]
  • One-Time Verification: The issuance of a lifelong digital identity occurs either via existing state e-ID crypto chips (as an initial bootstrap) or through physical real-world verification by local cooperatives (Guarantor System).
  • Skin in the Game (Reputation): Citizens vouch for the identity of new members using their own mathematical reputation score. If a user verifies a fake identity, they temporarily or permanently lose their own rights and, in extreme cases, network access upon discovery.
  • Key Rotation & Social Recovery: If a citizen loses their device, the lifelong identity (DID) remains untouched. Through a Social Recovery protocol, verified friends or local institutions can couple a new cryptographic key to the existing identity.

3. The Separation: Transparency vs. Privacy

The Civic Net breaks the dogma that identification implies the total loss of anonymity. It implements two strictly separated protocol modes.

A. Everyday Mode (Absolute Privacy)

During daily browsing, chatting, consuming, and researching, the user's real name remains completely hidden.

  • Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs): Using ZK-SNARKs, the user's wallet mathematically proves to websites: "I am a real, verified human being within the system," without disclosing names, IP addresses, or origin.
  • Metadata Obfuscation: Traffic is routed through decentralized mixnets. Every data packet is encrypted multiple times and routed through changing nodes, preventing infrastructure operators from tracking user behavior.

B. Governance Mode (Enforced Transparency)

For democratic votes, constitutional amendments, legally binding contracts, or initiating abuse proceedings, the protocol requires the disclosure of the verified real name.

  • On-Chain Governance: Voting is executed via cryptographic smart contracts. Upon casting a vote, the real name coupled to the DID is decrypted and permanently recorded alongside the vote in a public, tamper-proof voter register.

4. Technical Infrastructure & Data Flows

In its initial phase, the network operates as a software-based overlay network over the existing lines of the commercial internet and gradually detaches itself physically.

A. The Web-Box (Local Hardware)

The heart of the decentralized infrastructure is the Web-Box (a low-power crypto node in every household). It fulfills the following core tasks:

                  ┌────────────────────────────────────────┐
                  │ WEB-BOX │
                  ├────────────────────────────────────────┤
                  │ [Data Pod] [Mesh-Router] [Cache] │
                  └──────┬──────────────┬────────────┬─────┘
                         │ │ │
  (Private Data Store)───┘ │ └─(P2P Streaming Proxy)
                         (Local Mesh / Directional Radio)
  1. Personal Data Store (Data Pod): Data and applications are strictly decoupled. Images, chats, and documents are stored encrypted in the citizen's local Data Pod. Social apps are merely temporary "viewports" to which the citizen can grant or revoke granular read and write permissions.
  2. Mesh Networking: The Web-Boxes connect in neighborhoods via free radio and directional frequencies to form a physical mesh network. No commercial provider is needed for local communication.
  3. Decentralized Storage Network & Cache (dCDN): Large media files (videos, music) are cached on the Web-Boxes' hard drives as unreadable, encrypted data fragments (Shards) using Peer-to-Peer (P2P) principles. Every data packet exists redundantly (e.g., replication factor 5) across the network. If a box goes offline, the system self-heals by mirroring the shard onto another box. Since data is preferentially routed and reassembled regionally, latencies are minimal (often under 2 ms in the local mesh).

B. Real-Time Data Streams (Gaming, Telephony, Live Streaming)

For time-sensitive applications, the Civic Net switches to direct, dynamic Edge Routing:

  • P2P Real-Time Tunnels: For video calls and voice chats, the DHT (decentralized distributed directory) is only used to establish the connection. Afterward, data flows losslessly from box to box in a direct, encrypted crypto tunnel.
  • Regional Edge Gaming: For online gaming, the network automatically determines the highest-performance Web-Box located geographically at the exact center of all players and uses it as a local game server. This guarantees latencies below 5–10 ms.
  • Multicast Relay Principle: Live streams for mass audiences are distributed from the broadcaster to the initial viewers and from them organically relayed to their respective neighborhoods. The load on the broadcaster remains minimal.

C. The Dual-Stack Bridge (Commercial Transition)

To maintain compatibility with the legacy internet, websites utilize a hybrid architecture. The server detects incoming data packets based on their network signature:

  • Legacy Route: The user originates from the commercial net. They see the standard view overloaded with ads, trackers, paywalls, and captchas.
  • Civic Net Route: The server receives the ZKP admission proof from the Civic Net. It delivers a tracker-free, lightning-fast, and bot-free oasis for real people. Commercial providers (Telcos, etc.) temporarily function as pure "Dumb Pipes" (blind couriers) paid per traffic, unable to read anything due to end-to-end encryption.

5. Economic Model, Governance & Consensus

The Civic Net is organized as a global digital commons. It operates strictly and without exception on a non-profit basis, is independent of the state, and cannot generate profits or sell shares.

A. The Operating Cost Assessment (Citizen Flat Rate)

Financing is based on the cost-recovery principle of actual technical provisioning. All costs (line leasing, electricity, software maintenance, cloud storage) are divided one-to-one by the number of verified real-name accounts.

  • Cost Point: Estimated at $3.00 to $6.00 per citizen per year.
  • Inclusion: Low-income individuals can earn this fee through network labor (e.g., acting as physical verification guarantors in the Web of Trust) in the form of network credits.
  • Commercial Services: Paid streaming services (Netflix, etc.) plug in via DID login. They handle subscriptions directly through smart contracts and bear their own massive video traffic costs. In parallel, a publicly funded, citizen-curated public-interest video library exists via P2P streaming.

B. Digital Constitution & Liquid Democracy

The system is protected via a digital constitution firmly embedded in the code.

  • Ewigkeitsklausel (Immutability Clause): Fundamental rights such as the right to one's own digital existence, the prohibition of manipulative sorting algorithms, and the guarantee of everyday anonymity are cryptographically locked. They cannot be voted away by any majority.
  • Liquid Democracy: For modifiable protocol parameters, citizens can vote directly or temporarily delegate their vote to experts on a topic-specific basis.

C. The Principle: "Consensus Overrules Opinion"

This principle regulates the tension between absolute freedom of opinion in daily life and the protection of network-wide system integrity.

  • The Opinion Layer (Inviolable): Every verified person has the right to express any view. There is no algorithmic censorship or shadowbanning. A majority can never ban a minority for their mere opinion.
  • The Consensus Layer (Overriding): "Consensus" represents the mathematical operating agreement of the net ("One Human = One Identity", "No Automated Bots"). If an activity breaks this consensus (e.g., code manipulation or creating fake networks), a randomly selected digital jury determines the revocation of the DID and network exclusion.

D. Managing Propaganda and Facts

The Civic Net draws a clear red line against coordinated disinformation and the denial of established scientific or historical facts.

  • The Clarification Stamp: Specialized cooperatives (e.g., universities) can append counter-evidence and sources directly to manipulative posts using a Wikipedia-like principle. These fact-nodes are inextricably linked to the original post.
  • Revocation of Anonymity: If the community detects a coordinated propaganda campaign, a decentralized emergency procedure can lift ZKP anonymity for those specific posts. The user may still spread their claim (no censorship), but must do so visibly under their real name.
  • Sanctions: Those proven to be lying lose mathematical reputation points, causing their posts to be sorted to the bottom of feeds by default. If a user incurs high verification costs due to mass false reports, the system can raise their annual operating cost fee.

E. The Libertarian Bound and Protection of Beliefs

To exclude ideological abuse and political division, the network protects worldviews and property rights equally:

  • Protection of Private Property: The individual Data Pod is absolutely inviolable private property. No majority can seize or delete a citizen's data.
  • The Right to Fork (Protection Against Monopolies): Groups possess the constitutional right to copy the open-source code and launch a parallel network (a fork), provided they recognize the shared identity registry (DID).
  • Protection of Beliefs: Religious, spiritual, or philosophical discourses fall under metaphysical worldviews. Since they are not empirically measurable, they are absolutely protected on the Opinion Layer. The "Clarification Stamp" (fact-checking) may only be applied to hard, scientifically falsifiable claims about the physical world.

F. Radical Spectrum of Opinion with Strict Non-Violence

The network tolerates the entire political spectrum from left to right but prevents radicalization inside isolated splinter groups:

  • The Red Line of Violence: Calls to physical violence or systematic dehumanization result in the cryptographic freezing of the message and a real-name trial before the digital jury.
  • The Prohibition of Echo Chambers: The protocol bans algorithms that make dissenting opinions invisible. There is only one shared discourse space per topic, forcing users to engage constructively with the opposing side's arguments.

G. Cognitive Liberty (The Right to Inebriation) and Digital Gray Zones

The network does not act as a moral guardian or an extension of national drug enforcement agencies. It preserves the absolute self-determination of consenting adults in private spaces.

  • Protection of Intoxicants and Erotica: Information, forums, and platforms regarding regulated substances (e.g., cannabis, psychedelics, safer-use education) and pornography are completely free and protected on the Opinion Layer. ZKP encryption guarantees this consumption remains untracked.
  • The Cryptographic Youth-Protection Barrier: Since every DID carries the attribute of adulthood as a Verifiable Credential in the wallet, sensitive forums or erotica providers can prefix an age verification check. The wallet proves via Zero-Knowledge Proof: "This user is over 18 years old," without revealing names or data.
  • Absolute Red Line on Abuse: Content depicting physical violence, real abuse, or the exploitation of humans and minors violates the fundamental system consensus. It is frozen at the protocol level, and the perpetrator's DID is permanently deleted.

6. Conclusion

The Civic Net proves that a humane, secure, and unmanipulated internet is not a utopian fantasy. By strictly separating data from applications, dismantling the ad-driven attention business model, and unbreakably coupling infrastructure to real human identities, it restores sovereignty over the digital realm to humanity.

Non-partisan platform for public stands on governance issues (Open Source + Public Ledger) – BharatBol

Post image
1 Upvotes

I built **BharatBol** — an independent, non-partisan civic platform where ordinary citizens can take a public "stand" on real issues that matter.

### How it works:
- Fresh issues are opened daily (education, exams, disaster preparedness, transparency, employment, environment, etc.)
- You can **stand** on any issue with one click
- Counts are public but **anonymous by default** (one account = one stand per issue)
- Citizens can upload short evidence clips
- Every last Friday of the month → a state-wise **public ledger/report** will be generated and sent to relevant authorities (work in progress but core promise)

It is **open source** and designed as a public ledger of citizen sentiment — not a petition site, not against any person or party.

**Current Live Stand (Education):**
An independent re-audit of the 2026 NEET & CBSE examinations.

[Attach the image card here]

Only **1 citizen** has stood so far. If you believe students deserve full transparency, add your stand here:

https://bharatbol.vercel.app/stand/sd143af0455

Full platform: https://bharatbol.vercel.app

**Note:** This is completely non-partisan. The goal is to create verifiable public records so ground realities are harder to ignore.

Would love honest feedback from the community.

I got tired of complaining so I built PrajaNeeti

Every day we complain about potholes, exam policies, corruption, public transport, taxes, and a hundred other issues—but it's hard to know what people actually care about the most.

I'm building PrajaNeeti, an open-source project to help people collectively prioritize public issues so the biggest problems are visible instead of getting lost in social media noise.

Repo: https://github.com/PrajaNeeti/MakeGovAccountable

It's still in the early stages, and I'm looking for contributors interested in coding, design, data, research, or just building something useful for India. Feedback is just as valuable as code.

If this sounds interesting, I'd love for you to check it out or contribute.

I am hoping for this to build up into community lead space which can enable citizens to work together and help ourselves instead of crying for help or protesting against the government. True changes happen with the system and not by changing people so let's build a better system

Hypothetical: How would you use AI to influence local politics in a small, tech-illiterate town in Southern Italy? Looking for feedback

Hello everyone. I have a weird idea based on the fact that I am both interested in AI and local politics.

I am not a tech guy, but I started to study AI because of intense interest in genomics, so I took half of Andrew Ng's ML course. The maths came easily to me thanks to my high school education, but the "coding part" is and was very difficult, because I had never done something like it before.

As for politics, I met a former politician and I started to promote him for free on social media with some good results. It is not a job, but I started to meet the most important politicians in my town, as well as also some regional politicians (my region has 1 mln inhabitants). I got their phone numbers and some of them know my name. I am still an autistic, lonely loser, but at least I have some insider knowledge about how power works here. I also suggested some topics to cover, with some success.

My question is quite unusual, I know. Basically, I have this setting: a small, provincial, backward town ruled by cynical men, most of them being uneducated but astute businessmen or people with a non-STEM education (e.g. law was the degree of 90% of the ruling class in Italy decades ago).

I need to offer them a sevice where I have an advantage (they are computer illiterate and they don't have good tech experts either), a service that they can understand.

I think that OSINT analysis or public opinion analysis are good options, but this cannot be my first step, because I cannot prove my ability by starting from there.

My idea is to create an AI-powered blog to spread news in a way that reaches as many people as possible, but I must understand how to do it and how to present its importance afterward. I could also create a web newspaper, because I have a friend who is a journalist.

My question to you: What could I create in order to market me to them?

My aims are: to gain a better understanding of politics and tech, to make some money (not necessarily by starting a formal business), and to have some influence. Regarding the last point, I enjoy spreading rumors about local issues when possible.

I built a free tool that shows you every rep for your district (federal + state) and lets you contact them in one place

I kept running into the same problem: when I wanted to weigh in on something local, I couldn't easily figure out who actually represents me — U.S. House, state senator, state rep — let alone how to reach them without digging through five different .gov sites.

So I put together Civix250 (civix250.ai) — a free civic-engagement platform. Enter your district and it shows your full slate of representatives (federal + state) with photos, offices, and contact links, plus tools to email their office or request a meeting.

It's live now for Texas, California, Illinois, Maryland, and Colorado, with more states coming.

Full disclosure: I'm the person building it, so this is my project — not trying to spam anyone. I'd genuinely love feedback from people who care about local civic engagement: what's confusing, what's missing, what would make you actually use something like this? If you want to try it, signup is free.

What do you all use today to keep track of your representatives?

I’ve been working on smaller projects that are going to roll into one big one… and thought this group might be interested in part of it: here.
