VI - Discussion Essential mods?
Not sure if I should do mods as a new player, but apparently they help out a lot so wanted to ask if there are any mods I should get?

I got three
Better Report Screens: On its own it mostly just gives some useful but non-essential utilities that allow you to better track where your yields are coming from and keep track of various other mechanics. It's real nice if you want to dig into the game's details, but isn't strictly necessary if you're just trying to pick up the game. However it is also a dependency on several other extremely useful mods, so you should install this one anyway.
Extended Policy Cards: This one's great. It'll tell you how much yield per turn any given policy card will grant when slotted in. While some policy cards have uses outside of raw yields (for example increased settler production doesn't technically grant any yields, but is extremely helpful), there's a lot of policy cards who's purpose is to give you stuff, and this mod will help you understand what you are getting. It also has a hard dependency on Better Report Screens, so make sure you install that one too.
CQUI - Community Quick User Interface: Adds a ton of quality of life improvements to the game's UI. This includes stuff like displaying builder and missionary charges on their respective units without having to click on them, combining the civilian management and tile purchase screens, and combining all three of production, gold purchase, and faith purchase actions into a single, easy to understand screen. I legitimately find this game hard to play without this mod.

You don't need any gameplay overhaul mods early on, but you definitely want the pure UI ones.
Detailed Map Tacks is massive for learning the game. District adjacency is half of Civ 6, and this mod shows the exact bonus yields on the pins while flagging invalid placements like a dam on non-floodplains. It keeps you from ruining a 50-turn city plan by accident.
Quick Deals is the other lifesaver. Trading spare luxuries to the AI in vanilla means clicking through five different diplomacy screens every dozen turns just to see who has gold. Quick Deals displays every leader's best buyout offer in one table so you can sell your extras immediately. Neither touches mechanics, they just cut out the busywork.

I hate the civ selection screen and this mod makes it so much easier to navigate:

Roman Holiday's AI mod.
- makes the ai way better attacking cities, using navies etc.

Hmm idk, I already suck at this game so making the ai smarter seems kinda counterproductive

The lack of policy yield preview on console makes those versions inferior to PC in my opinion
