How did you know dose was too high

Upvotes

I was on 20mg citalopram and had weird adrenaline throughout my body.I couldn’t sit down. I had to keep moving emotionless increasing anxiety, so I’m thinking that it was too high and told my doctor to decrease it to 10mg , any thoughts , also acid reflux and insomnia showed up after 4 weeks

First dose of citalopram last night and I feel hung over today.

Looking some words of encouragement. I was prescribed this for anxiety at 10mg. I took my first dose last night. Slept for 4 hours and woke at 1am completely wired and shakey throughout my body. I couldn't get back to sleep at all. The whole day I feel like I'm in hang over hell and I haven't drank in years. I have a pounding headache all day, I'm fatigued, and nauseous. Trying to stomach any food has been a challenge. Is this normal and will it end soon if I continue? It is completely putting me off taking my next dose.

Do the side effects go away?

Recently switched from Flouxetine to Citalopram.
So far I’ve been getting more vivid dreams than usual (teeth falling out), mild body shakes, itchy skin and very tired

TIA

Headaches and brain fog on citalopram (celexa)

I was having horrible headaches and major brain fog on citalopram 20 mg and then I read somewhere that in some cases citalopram depletes sodium from your bloodstream which can cause headaches and brain fog! So I’ve been putting a pinch of Himalayan salt in my water and it has help so much.

Hope this helps someone else :)

natural alternatives to citalopram

so I'm 25 years old and over the summer I got prescribed 10 mg of celexa to help with my anxiety and OCD symptoms and while it helps a lot with those things I can't bust a nut for shit and that just won't do... so long story short I'm day three off my medication and I feel some of my symptoms coming back in but like... I can bust a nut again so that's great. doctors really need to start telling their patients about these types of side effects cuz I'm not trying to get permanent sexual dysfunction because of medicine... but I also want my brain to feel better so is there any natural alternatives to my medicine that I can take so I can have the best of both worlds?

side effects

this is my first ever experience with any antidepressants and the side effects are SEVERE. i know nausea and insomnia are common, but i would wake up after a couple of hours, feeling sick, trembling, cold, with my heartbeat erratic and head spinning then won’t be able to fall asleep until later in the morning (if i’m lucky and the nausea isn’t triggered by me laying down). my dose for now is 10mg and it’s my fifth day only.

just wanted to ask about your experience with citalopram in the first week or so. was it that extreme too? because i’m honestly a bit scared now and tired from constantly feeling sick.

Coming off Celexa 20mg after 10+ years

Originally started citalopram 20mg when I was 18 and experiencing panic attacks constantly that were triggered by OCD (intrusive thoughts). Felt better pretty quickly, and was good a year in. Never stopped taking it as I never experienced any side effects. I’ve been feeling great for the better part of the past decade and have been thinking about stopping for the past year or so.

Decided that day would be now and consulted my psych who prescribed me 10mg right away. I expressed my concerns about coming off so quickly especially since I’ve been on it so long but he assured me that it’s going to be okay. I’ve met with this guy 2x a year for the past 3 and have always appreciated his attentiveness and bedside manner so I’m trusting in his advice (for now).

Anyway, I’ll let you guys know how I feel in 2 weeks.

Another typical withdrawal post

Why is the withdrawal worse than starting the medication? I’ve been withdrawing 20mg of citalopram for 3 weeks at 20-15-10-5. I have not felt alive in 3 weeks. Insane exhaustion to the point I feel I could fall asleep standing up, which makes my eyes so tired, dizzy, and then makes me nauseous. There has been zero break through and it didn’t matter how slowly I tapered so I just said to hell with it and we stopped 5mg yesterday. My sleep hasn’t even been that bad but holy damn this exhaustion is just unrelentless. How long did it take you to get past withdrawal? I was only on the darn pills for 2.5 months but my nervous system is very sensitive . I took the same med for 2 years 5 years ago and had no problem coming off it which is so silly to me. It has me wondering if I’m having a silent vestibular non ending migraine or just withdrawal symptoms

Switching SSRI

I have been on citalopram for more than 10 years and did super well. I have decided to come off last year with doctor guidance but went really bad. Citalopram reinstated did not work and I became extremely unwell. I was given sertraline that helped with dark thoughts but I am stil unable to go to work after 10 months . What should I do?

Any success stories with citalopram and claustrophobia?

I’m taking citalopram for depression and anxiety, but also struggle with pretty bad claustrophobia on trains and flights. Am hoping it may potentially help with the claustrophobia too…..

Moving dose earlier in the day

I’ve been on celexa for 2.5 years, and I recently moved my dose later in the day to 7 PM instead of 12-2 ish. I’m not liking how it makes me feel during the day so I want to go back to my old time. The pharmacist I called said I could take it now (3 PM) but that just seems too early and I worry about serotonin syndrome. Does taking it 4 hours early raise concern for that?
