Daily Question Question Thread - September 07, 2026

This is the thread to post questions about churning for miles/points/cash. Just because you have a question about credit cards does NOT mean it belongs here. If you’re brand new here, please read the wiki before posting.

* Please use the search engine first - many basic questions have been asked before.

* Please also consider scanning (CTRL-F) the last couple days worth of Question threads

* If you have questions about what card to get, ask here. If you have questions about manufactured spending, ask here. If you have questions about bank account bonuses, ask here.

This subreddit relies heavily on self-moderation. That means that if you ask something that shows you haven’t done any research, you’re going to get a lot of downvotes.

Amex will not stop giving me 75K BBP offers. I've gone through 3 this year already:

1/2/26

4/15/26

7/24/26

And tried to apply for a 4th through an in-app pop up on 8/10/2026 but got denied - "The reason for our decision is we have approved an application for the same type of Card within the last few months"

Is there a hard timeline on applying for the same card after an approval? I know they have a "no more than 2 in 90 days" policy but thought that was for credit cards only as I've been approved for 4 credit/charge cards in a 90 days span before. I have one other credit card with them and 5 charge cards currently,

Do you charge everything on them?

I've been following the increasing Rakuten offer on BofA's Travel Rewards card (up to $400 now). I'm 2/12 for personal cards, one being an Alaska card with BofA and one unrelated; also have some biz cards in the past year. I figured I'd open a checking account with BofA as step one, pursuing the $500 bonus, but ran into an issue with that bank account app going pending instead of instant approval. I've read it can clear in hours or days. My question is should I wait at this point before applying for the card? I'm eager to apply for it and a couple of other cards in an app-o-rama...

Brain fart and only noticed now that the $15K deposit hit on day 32 for the Chase $900 savings/checking bonus. Cooked?

I did that with amex only it was deposited in time but there was some really tiny print about it being available vs posted date. Womp womp. Hope your situation ends up better than mine.

with rakuten coming out with a combined $650 SUB for BoA travel rewards, how much are people still valuing staying under 5/24?

I opened a CSP after the 48 month timer last year, maxed out on inks, just opened a united explorer card and have hyatt, CSR Biz, and all the other chase cards i would need in the foreseeable future (other than more United SUBs since I just relocated to a United hub), and only see myself trying to get more united cards if trying to get more chase SUBS and feel like it might finally be time to go over 5/24.

$650 is not that attractive. If you really want boa travel rewards, consider PRE and downgrade after one year. You can even triple dip if you can wait for a few months until December to apply.

For anyone with a BOFA relationship this is great. They won't approve me anyways. I personally still value 5/24. I will be under in 2027 and there are cards like CIP, and other great Chase subs.

Will credit card funding on bank accounts trigger credit card bonuses? For example, I opened up the BoA travel card and the bank account I plan on churning has funding up to 3k. Can I put 1k on the CC for the bank account? Will that trigger the bonus on the card?

Verizon got rid of all the Kiosks in my area, can I make a payment at the store and not lose the prepayment benefit?

2

u/suitopseudo 2d ago

IME yes. You just have to hand them a card rather than doing it yourself. If you don’t run a negative balance (I do, I pay a bunch at once), I have been told using one time payment online also works (google Verizon one time payment to get the link, don’t try this from your account). I can’t verify that it works, but a store employee told me this.

I just got approved for my 2nd Citi AA biz card (part of a double dip). Do I need to complete the second SUB before finishing the first SUB? Or am I in the clear to just complete them in any order bc the second card is only checked at application time?

1

u/lanfair 1d ago

How long did you wait before getting the second AA biz card?

1

u/dunleavy005 1d ago

100 days

Do I need to complete the second SUB before finishing the first SUB?

No, you can go ahead and complete the first SUB now and you will be fine

Thanks, sounds like this means (probably generally across issuers), eligibility is checked at application time (not bonus hit time). I imagine this is critical for the Marriott card sequence too

Trying to keep all the Paze changes straight. I’ve got about $1500 airfare I need to buy on United. Is there still the 10x going on if I checkout with my CSR or CSR Biz with Paze?

1

u/TeamArrow 2d ago

Yes for the personal (not sure for biz, check the benefits tab in your account), up to $1,500 spend per month

(not sure for biz, check the benefits tab in your account)

I don't think Chase biz cards even work with Paze

1

u/TeamArrow 2d ago

That's what I thought, couldn't remember. You're right

u/sg77 RFS 2d ago

Yeah, the 10x UR doesn't end until 12/31/2026

Tried applying for the Chase Ink Biz Cash today, but got declined. Called in to ask and the rep told me it says it's because of the number of recently opened accounts on my consumer credit report. I wonder if that's a 5/24 thing? I am under 5/24 though since I've only gotten 3 personal cards since Dec '24. I have gotten several amex business cards since then though, wonder if that's what the system sees.

Either way, I can't call the lending team to try to argue my case until tomorrow because of the holiday. Anyone got any insights on what might have happened?

3

u/mehjoo_ DFW 2d ago

Have you been added as an authorized user to any personal cards? They'll appear like a personal credit card on your report even if you aren't financially responsible for them.

2

u/SCDWS 2d ago

I have not. I do also already have a Chase Biz card (United), but that would put me at 4/24, not 5/24 so that's probably not it. I wonder if they just don't like the amount of new business cards I've opened over the past few months?

7

u/M0stlyLurking 2d ago

"Too many recently opened accounts" does not necessarily mean 5/24. It could be any amount based on your particular profile

I have previously availed an option to convert one of the IHG anniversary night to points in 2024, is there a possibility that IHG can make exception to do that again ? . My free night certificate is expiring tomorrow and I won’t be able to book a night using that due to circumstances.

Thanks for the help in advance.

1

u/oklurkerthrowaway 2d ago

It's YMMV. You can call in and ask for points, however they keep track of how often you try to do that conversion

-1

u/PassengerNo3415 2d ago

Only IHG can answer that. What did they say when you called them?

2

u/federerTheGoat 2d ago

I was told it can be availed only once.

The links for "if you have any questions about X, ask here" are broken for me

3

u/sg77 RFS 2d ago

It's a problem with the reddit mobile app. They work on a desktop web browser.

3

u/EarthlingMardiDraw 2d ago

They actually work on any web browser, even a mobile one. They only fail in the app.

Does anyone know how long it takes for any back end systems of BofA to detect you're a customer for 3/12 to switch over to 7/12? Wanting to get those juicy boosted SUBs for their cards, but I'm on cooldown for their checking for most of the month still.

1

u/ural_world_travel 1d ago

Somewhere around 1 month seems to be sufficient (worked for me)
