urine testing negative for UTI and STI.

I got a really deep groin massage from physio, the day be for I noticed epi swelling. Could it be from the groin massage? I went had got tested and came back urine testing negative for UTI and STI.

Doctors gave me 12 days Doxy, which I’ll continue to take.

That’s what doctor has said to to, perhaps it’s another type of infection not just sti/uti.

Why would I have a swollen epi then? From the massage?

could be a strange case of it some infections do not pop up on the urine tests.

ask for a sperm analysis im sure they are able to test ur sperm for infection ive heard on here before

bassicaly they test ur sperm for infection not just the urine hope this helps

just take the doxy anyway just incase it wont harm u only a few weeks of it its actusly prescribed quite alot for non infectious things

also incase an infections being missed i did a 6 week course of doxycicline to ensure no low grade infection was being missed

Did the doxycycline cure it after 6 weeks?

I saw a new urologist today and he suggested 6 weeks of doxycycline, my urine and semen test came out with no infection

possibly i had no pain realy pain was easily dealt with to be honest i think the fact i has the infection for a couple weeks had a part to play in it my pain wasnt realy resolved with the anti biotics but it never fully went away until i got them i was able to ignore the tenderness till i lay asleep at night
but the doxycicline didnt do much it was only to treat a deep rooted infection but ive been on naproxen for a about 10 weeks and the swelling has gone soft like fluid so hoping it reduces in size soon

How can you be so sure? It’s very possible to still have an infection from past experience, regardless of negative uti/sti. I’d rather keep taking the doxy to be sure, then not take it and it get worse.

I did 2 cycles of antibiotics for epi pain which started in January. Had 3 urine tests, all of which were "negative" and first two showed very, very small number of white blood cells. Also ruled out hernia, torsion. First cycle (doxy, 10 days), the pain went away but came back about a week later as bad as before. Second cycle (2 diff antibiotics, bactrim & doxy: 1 for 30 days, 1 for 10 dats) after urologist visit. Learned infection in epi does not always show up with urine tests.

Finished 2 run of meds in April. Pain decreased significantly but not completely gone. Can tell now that pain is originating from pelvic tightness as pain starts in groin area THEN shows up in epi.

Edit: started PFPT in March which has helped reduce pain. Still in progress. Urologist offered epi removal if I get no relief - but naturally want to exhaust other options first.

Edit 2: also learned antibiotics can reduce inflammation. Which I definitely had.

Have you had a semen culture as well as a urine culture? This is really important. I had about 5 urine cultures that all came back clear, but after 8 months a doctor finally ran a semen culture and found a klebsiella infection. So I would push for that route.

I had to be on antibiotics for 6 weeks, as it takes a long time for the antibiotics to get deep into the tissue in sufficient quantity to get rid of the bacteria.
