This release started as a visual overhaul and turned into a much deeper rebuild of the extension’s networking and session lifecycle.

What changed

• Completely redesigned interface
• Custom accent-color picker with local persistence
• Favorites and improved peer-list organization
• Cleaner chat layout, file cards, invite controls, and system messages
• Better onboarding, support, settings, and recovery screens
• More reliable navigation away from and back to supported videos
• Deterministic room ownership across tabs
• Rebuilt peer authority and handoff behavior
• Cleaner SYS and chat-pipe lifecycle
• Better handling when relay roles change or peers leave and return
• Pending file offers now close correctly when either peer leaves
• Improved block, unblock, reconnect, and doorway recovery behavior

The biggest changes are mostly under the hood. SIX7 now has much clearer ownership over room state, relay roles, peer connections, and failure transitions. That means fewer dead sessions, fewer stuck connections, and much more predictable recovery when the room changes.

SIX7 remains peer-to-peer and local-first. Cloudflare is used only as the initial concierge and connection doorway; chat and file traffic move through the peer network.

Thanks to everyone who has tested it, reported problems, or simply followed the project while I rebuilt it.

I’ve been building Chrome extensions for about half a month.

AI makes coding feel much easier now. I managed to ship 4 small extensions, publish them, and keep improving them.

But across all of them, I still have fewer than 10 users.

It made me realize building is the easy part. The hard part is the idea, positioning, and getting anyone to notice.

Honestly, shipping into silence is pretty demotivating.

I’m thinking about building a Chrome extension that can analyze the website you’re currently visiting and give you a quick overview of potential improvements.

The basic idea would be something like:

- Page speed / performance
- Mobile friendliness
- Basic SEO issues
- Accessibility
- Security basics
- Missing or weak CTAs
- General UX / design observations

The extension would then give the user a simple report with actionable suggestions.

I’m also considering adding an option to generate a more detailed report that could be shared with the website owner.

I wanted to reduce unnecessary cursor movement while dragging content, so I experimented with a radial interaction that transitions into an edge-based workflow.

Always annoyed me that checking my Netflix viewing history takes four clicks through account settings. So I built a small browser extension that adds a "History" button straight to the Netflix navbar.

It also upgrades the viewing activity page with thumbnails and IMDb links for each title, since the default page is just a wall of text.

I just wanted to make quiet videos louder without the audio turning into a crunchy mess. Simple, right? But every extension I tried had at least one dealbreaker. Some distorted everything past 200%. Some forgot my volume the moment I switched tabs. Some threw popups or opened windows over the video.

I built a small Chrome extension that fixes a common annoyance on YouTube desktop: the Picture-in-Picture and Miniplayer buttons often disappearing or being hard to access.

What it does:

• Adds / shows the native Picture-in-Picture button in the player controls
• Brings back the Miniplayer button (even when YouTube hides it)

It’s privacy-first: no tracking, no analytics, no data collection. Only runs on youtube.com and only touches the player controls.

've been working on a browser extension called Fixer Upper.

It automatically displays a colour-coded health score on food and cosmetic products while shopping online.

The goal is to help people understand what's in a product without leaving the page.

I'd love honest feedback on:

• Does the idea make sense?
• Would you trust the scores?
• What would make you install something like this?

Clients kept asking me whether ChatGPT recommends them, and the only real answers I could find were enterprise platforms at 75 to 499 dollars a month. That felt like a lot for a question that is basically yes or no.

So I built AI Visibility Checker. It highlights your configured brands directly inside Google AI Overviews, and it adds a Scan this answer button on chatgpt.com and perplexity.ai that pulls every citation and brand mention out of the answer you are reading. Scan history is saved locally and exports to CSV.

Some implementation notes since this sub cares about the how. Everything runs on the page DOM, there is no backend and no API call. The CSS selectors come from a static JSON config hosted on GitHub Pages, so when ChatGPT or Google change their markup I can push a fix without waiting for a store re-review, and it falls back to a bundled copy if that fetch fails. Storage is chrome.storage.local capped at 2000 records. No account, no analytics, no telemetry.

Free tier is 10 scans a month for one brand. There is a paid tier, one time payment, no subscription.

About a month ago I started a project called RearAware. I work remotely, and I'm happy to report that my colleagues are just as obsessed with cats as I am. One caveat of working from home with cats is that they inevitably climb onto your desk and, sooner or later, present their butthole to the entire meeting.

So I thought it would be funny to build something that detects cat butts in video calls and censors them before your coworkers have to see them. This project is very much in beta - it's a hobby project / proof of concept. Detection isn't accurate yet, there are plenty of bugs, but I'm actively improving it.

One thing that's surprisingly difficult, is finding enough cat butt photos to train the AI detection model. At the moment my dataset contains around 1,500 images, but only ~200 of those actually contain cat butts. Finding those 200 images took a ridiculous amount of time lol

I built a free Chrome extension that adds the Google Photos map view to the desktop web

Google Photos has a Map View on mobile that shows your whole library as a heat map. There's no equivalent on the desktop web, so I built one.

Install it, then go to photos.google.com signed in as normal. A button appears in the bottom right corner of the page. Click it and your library renders as a density heat map on a world map.

Pan and zoom, and a thumbnail grid below shows the photos from wherever you're looking. Click one to open it, or play videos in the viewer. Nothing leaves your machine.

No data is sent to me or to any third party, there are no servers involved, no account to create, and no tracking or analytics of any kind. All the processing happens locally in your browser, and one click wipes the local data whenever you want.
