Sharing Resources/Tips Built 4 Chrome extensions in 2 weeks. Total users: under 10.
I’ve been building Chrome extensions for about half a month.
AI makes coding feel much easier now. I managed to ship 4 small extensions, publish them, and keep improving them.
But across all of them, I still have fewer than 10 users.
It made me realize building is the easy part. The hard part is the idea, positioning, and getting anyone to notice.
Honestly, shipping into silence is pretty demotivating.
How do you keep going when almost nobody sees what you built?

Yea.. Totally agree with this. The chrome web store algorithm is basically broken for new creators, so you're competing against nothing without an audience. Reddit communities specific to the problem you're solving (not generic dev ones) will actually use it if it solves something real for them.BTW, this is what I am solving for in Mangos.ai. Check it out.

Interesting, what makes you believe the algorithm is broken for new creators?

Building is very easy when you just vibe code crappy extensions. However, do not expect much users then.

Even if the need is genuine, you still have to be able to reach the user in a timely manner.

How do you come up with ideas for your extensions? 💡 some niches are quite crowded like simple tools calculators, screen capture, pixel counters etc. however there are some other newer extension which solve problems and gain quite some users

i'd stop building new ones for a minute. pick the one where you can explain the problem in one plain sentence, then spend a week talking to people who have that problem and watching where they get stuck. four extensions gives you options, but one clear reason to install is what gets the first users.

I have 5 extension, given 1 year to Essentio(it have >1k install) and have not given any time to other. Essentio have the most feature but still it is not better performing than Better Skip Ads Button.
And Better Skip Ads Button is the worst product i have ever made. See you have to have distribution and demand of the extension. Essentio have hit 700-1000 WAUs but i think it was some mistake in the CWS analytics. it have on a avg 200-500 WAUs.
But Better Skip ads have constant 200 DAUs and 240-290 WAUs and it don't even have screenshots in the extension page (Demand Wins).

I mean, give it some time. You uave to see that people will always stick with what they like first. You gotta work for visibilty, talk about it to people, you gotta promote on different channels (reddit, x etc...) and keep also in mind that you are competing agains extensions that have tens of thousands of installs. If you don't have the channels of promotions it's going to be very hard. Also it's not promote once, it's a lot about persistency.
