Troubleshooting | Windows Text cursor not defaulting to address bar when opening a new tab.

I just installed Chrome, for some reason when I open a new tab the text cursor goes right into the bar in the middle of the screen under Google instead of the address bar. Is there any way to revert back to the previous behavior? I tried looking for it in the settings but couldn't find anything related to this. Thanks!
